You’re a great instructor. What I enjoy the most is that you really take your time to help the viewer understand the logic. One thing that I struggle with with using chopped breaks, isn’t the chopping, it’s the execution. That’s why I stay with one shots. I’ve even watched MPC heads video on how to create drum break patterns with one shots by programming simultaneous play... however. I feel like my use of breaks even with all that control of offsetting hits still comes out super (thinking of the word) ...forced/unauthentic/ rushed sounding... having a tutorial on how you take it from here and use the break and fuse it with the sample and how your mind wraps around the actual sequence of the drums from the drumming perspective as it pertains to the vibe of a melody would be a dope tutorial ✌️
Thanks for your support homie! My next Chameleon Theory is going to have a lot of that particular process you are talking about! I hope to cover those concerns in a easy to understand explanation. Thanks again for watching Bruv!
Excellent tutorial. Been feeling down about programming drums. I don’t have an MPC but am considering picking up an XL. Still I think this could apply to other samplers too. Thanks a ton!!
Garrett DeBell thank you so much for watching! I created this video directed for the 2000xl, but the idea of chopping is pretty universal for any platform for sure.
Thank you for the sub! I'm currently in the process of making another one of my Chameleon Theory videos. This new one will be very in depth from sampling to creating to mixing to mastering on tape. Peace and blessings!
Thanks for the sub! Madly appreciate it! If you have a small mixer you can connect your record player into it and connect the mixer into the audio ins of the MPC. Peace!
I take black acoustic foam squares, cut them to size and fold them in half to raise the top end up. Not fancy or glamorous like wooden panels but cheaper. I used them after my cat got locked in the studio one day and tore them off my door to get out loooooool. Found this use for them. I also take thick weather strips that are supposed to be for doors to keep air out and stick them on the bottom of any piece of gear I have that sets on a table to to keep them from scratching surfaces up.
Iam Lobo you technically don’t need a computer for the XL to create. You could record your beats on something else like a tape machine, but I’m weird like that. Recording on DAW(computer) is the easiest and most obvious way today to get your music out digitally and fast. Make sure you research save mediums for your XL. Pick one that will best suit you. A lot of XLs in the used market today have upgraded save mediums such as SD card or flash card setups. Most importantly, sounds like you got a beast combo, I wish you many moons of fire! Thanks for watching!!
XL or New Live 2/1 MPC for producing? Need a Sampler for my rig and I’m really intimidated by the DAW/Programing side of making music. (Gear: Korg Kaoss KP3, DJM 650 Pioneer Mixer, CDJ 850 Pioneer)
Adrian Nunez thanks for watching. I think starting off with the newer technology is best for anyone new to MPCs. I prefer older ones, but the features and ease of connectivity with your gear may be best.
They aren’t for me I personally don’t want to use stems someone else has made. Mainly because my creations are inspired by the journey of the hunt to begin with. I’ve used drum sample packs before but I much prefer to use the samples I discover or make my self with instruments. I sometimes may use some sound FX that were given to me by a sample company but I will completely mangle the original it sounds nothing like it. Again, no offense to anyone who uses them because there’s some fire out there made from all sample packs, I just don’t like to paste someone else’s creation and call it mine unless I made it into something I know inside I can rightfully call it mine.
Chameleon Sessions yea u said it absolutely best honestly I think in my opinion they could be used to experiment and practice and work but also changing and refliping something Into something totally different Sonically putting the effort and perfecting your sound and craft that’s why when it comes to a particular sample or sound that’s being reworked it’s always good to experiment listening to the college dropout and madlib sessions along with madvilliany even resonable doubt showed it’s more about your ability to showcasing versatility and perfecting the right sample to perfection. Even tribe called quest beats rhyme life album when I hear those samples and instrumentals it’s great your work honestly from what I’ve heard sounds just like them super dope 1 thing that’s super confusing when it comes to it is mixing & mastering.
@@iamlobo7701 Those are some humbling words man. Thank you FRFR! Mixing and mastering can get tricky for sure. On my next Chameleon Theory, I will do an entire process on one track. From sampling to creation to mixing and mastering on tape. It may be a two part series. Peace!
Thank you for the video. Quick question: Is the process of chopping a sample the same whether you are using the 2000XL or the MPC One? Or is it easier or harder to do in one of the machines versus the other? The reason I ask is because I have been going back and forth trying to decide if I should purchase the 2000XL or the MPC One. Whatever thoughts, feedback or advice you can give would be helpful. Thank you again. Blessings!
My apologies for the delay, have you decided on a machine? I have no chopping experience with any other MPC aside from my 2KXL and 4K. I’m sure the new models are much easier to chop than the older ones. Sometimes however ease of use keeps you from finding happy accidents. At the same time, with new tech comes new happy accidents anyway.
This all works the same with the 2000 classic as well right? Is there a difference in chopping breaks? I'm getting back a classic 2000 as it was the first MPC I ever owned. I'm just wondering if the workflow is different?
Luke Kage I don’t think there is a difference in the sample and editing features between the two. I know on the OG 2K there’s no time stretch or tack mutes, I’ve never personally used any other than the 2KXL, and the one I just got. Thank you Luke for your viewing support Bruv, it’s much appreciated!
That my place and old brother Christian and my papa that was an long time ago I remembered tha black Muslim rob us but they got fool I seen it before it happened we got later on rob when the black Muslim guy individual try again
Big Ups 👍👍👍 for such an amazing tutorial on this boy🔥

ludwigos11 Thank you so much for watching
I'm subscribing to your excellent videos. I've got my mpc in front of me and also my technics but I don't know how to connect them:/
Thanks for the sub! Madly appreciate it! If you have a small mixer you can connect your record player into it and connect the mixer into the audio ins of the MPC. Peace!
🖤
You can always choose a new program. You just have to select your drum with the corresponding program.
Dope concept brother thanks for sharing
Nice vid man !! How do you make sp404 stand like that?
