The side-by-side shots are so cool! It was interesting to see the differences in their technique and in their gear placements. Kinda wild that one of them led this without a helmet.
WRT the nut, it looks like its been twisted before failure. You can see its not twisted on that fall but perhaps previous placements? Maybe it was just old with some of the wires weakened or stressed? Either that or the QA department need a kick up the arse. If there are any other wired pieces with damage or that have been untwisted...etc, get rid. The climbing is fantastic! 👍👍

It's a single wire nut which has a 4kn rating. That's a force which can be easily generated in a lead fall.
Are your crack gloves still stashed in that cave?! ;-)
