    thanks for the video and your thoughts on it and comparisons to other devices. That is weird where they put the oculink port and other TB port on the bottom. you would have to have it on a dock with access on the bottom or one that has those connectors built in, or a tablet holder. its not like you can lay it down missionary and plug into to those ports. The keyboard is also a shame. i mean it's smaller which is expected but closing it's just lackluster, hanging on limply. Did not know its the same display as the Go,is it. But it does look like it, just with more I/O. I'll stick with the Go for now on the AMD front. As far as the charging block, my Intel X1 came with that exact same one that you got for your mini, 100W GaN. I see many comparisons between this and the Legion go and Intel X1 in the future. Will be interesting to see what power schemes they use with this chipset vs X1, hmmm, lets call it OG X1 or X1 prime, but also other AMD devices like the Go which has very conservative power schemes

    • @ominousview
      @ominousview 6 месяцев назад

      Actually with the controllers on you could lay it down to access the bottom ports. The X1 has 15/16th of an inch clearance without back cover, which is plenty of space to get air in.. the go has 9/16 inch ground clearance, assuming the X1 mini sits somewhere between the Go and X1 since it's thicker than X1

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, laying it down would block the fan intake. I’ll use the cooling tablet stand that I got for the full size X1 to connect the oculink. The keyboard is not great lol. But, it’s better than no keyboard at all… 🙂

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  6 месяцев назад

      I suppose but then you would have to use an external controller or mouse and keyboard. I’m cautious about laying it down with the controller on because I worry about loosing controllers to the device overtime. The X1 mini is pretty tight but the big X1 has a tiny bit of wobble. I’ve had my right controller disconnect twice - still attached but lost connection and had to wiggle it a little to reconnect.

    • @ominousview
      @ominousview 6 месяцев назад

      @@GamingRepairssee. Haven't had any issues yet with disconnects yet. The only issue I have is the adapter discharging when not in use. Also I find the polling rate is faster with the adapter vs pogo pins but I have the ALPs version of the controllers not Hall. Not sure if there's any difference with polling rate or circularity test which are close to 0% error

    I got my OneXPlayer X1 AMD a few weeks ago. The joystick feels cheap and the thumb sticks are bad. I bought a G8+ controller, need s small mod and fits well, but I need software to use it with Bluetooth. I also use DS4 software to hide the DS4 but it shows as an Xbox controller.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  6 месяцев назад

      I had to calibrate mine as soon as I set it up. The default was way off centre but it’s good now. You can swap out the sticks with the legion go replacements if you want too. I hope they release a more premium controller down the line here. It would likely add more weight but I wouldn’t mind for a quality upgrade. I do like that the sticks has the metal shaft. On my rog ally, I had to use elastics on the shafts because it was chewing the plastic on the stick.

    • @7invi
      @7invi 6 месяцев назад

      @@GamingRepairs I just tore down the joystick and found that they use a thumbstick very similar to the one in the ROG Ally and the ribbon is same, but it's black (hall effect). I'm looking for the original ROG part now, which is grey (non-hall effect?). Are you sure it fits the Legion Go joystick? I checked the pins and rails online, and they seem different. However, if it really fits, that would be great.

  • @ominousview

    Hey one more question. For the OG X1, have you checked to see, during gameplay if you have 2 or more CPU core (threads) parked. I did and have 2 parked, whereas with the Go and TJD 101 for the same game, they don't. I know there's a registry file that can be changed to unpark them, but just an FYI. I believe this isn't the case with AMD CPUs by default whereas Intel lets Windows manage their cores usage, and park what it thinks won't be used.
    Also, for the X1 mini, does Adrenaline already have memory optimized for gaming or did you have to manually change it, unlike with the Go or Ally where they did (well the Tuning setting isn't offered with their AMD software version so I'm assuming it is and not set to productivity). Also, do you have the texture filter set to Performance vs Standard.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      With the Intel I’ve noticed if you change the display graphics settings (in windows) for the application/game to “High Performance” instead of the default “let windows decide” it makes a big difference for gains.
      I haven’t had a chance to play any games yet... It’s been a busy weekend but everything is installed and updated. Hopefully get a chance to play with it tomorrow. 👌

      sorry I read your comment wrong, I have my games set to high perf as well, what i'm talking about for unparking Cores, is seen here in this video from xlr8 ruclips.net/video/4xumF_cKddI/видео.htmlsi=64UPVJM5TS8IAaTb, 5:40 is the good part. ANd i've only seen it with Intel. With AMD I see people doing the opposite, trying to park cores. Maybe it helps maybe it doesn't. I think it depends on the CPU and game. Some games will utilize more threads if available, some won't based on what I 've researched so far

      @@GamingRepairs did some more TB vs Ocu testing with CP 2044 benchmark, with my OneXgpu and SGWzone (that has the 4060). TB cable from each I got same results, OneX Oculink cable was a little better, anyways using their OC cable for both eGPUs I saw 52.1, 48.6, and 33.2% diff , with internal monitor ( i remember you were getting like 30% improvement with yours) and 45.3, 42.3 and 30 % diff for ext monitor for 1080p, 1200p, 1440p for the OneXGpu. Interestingly , the OneX Ocu/TB improvement was better than the 4060 eGPU which gave 41,39, 27.5 % for int monitor and 34.6, 30.9, 20.6 % for ext monitor. The 4060 was a little better for TB but 7600m XT was better with Oculink. with Oculink Resize BAR and SAM can be enabled and I did have them enabled. So its possible, since I have found now, that Nivdia handles RAM and VRAM differently and not as well as AMD. And 8gb VRAM isn't a lot. So I guess i'll have to test again with resize BAR off. This was done with the X1 at 30Ws

      Hey! I stationary bike with my X1 mini not resting on anything just holding it for a hour (almost every day) and I don’t feel fatigued from it. For a longer session, yeah I probably would start to feel it. Overtime the muscles start to get stronger and you can hold it for longer lol. I think it’s comfortable for a heavier handheld but it would depend on your grip style for the controllers and endurance in those muscles (which again you would continuously build up with each session). • @GamingRepairs

      The performance will be very similar. Your only real gain would be from having 32GB of ram vs 16GB. The 8840u and Z1 Extreme are going to be a difference maker. Later this year we might see a new release of the X1 with a better AMD chip so if you’re not in a rush…

It peeled up from the thermal pad then I peeled the thermal pad back to the right, unscrewed the drive, copied it to a 2TB using an offline nvme duplicator device (from Amazon), removed the partitions preventing me from expanding the D drive (using cmd and command prompts to override deleting the recovery partitition) and expanded the D drive to the rest of the 2TB. Now I have the OS on 500GB and the D Drive is on 1.5TB. The 1TB model has it split 50/50. Picked up exaclty where I left off on the other drive.

      I’m still installing everything right now. But, it should be better for fps on AAA games with the ram being 32GB in this over the 16GB in the Legion Go. I’ll have to get back to you after trying out a few. 😊

    • @ominousview
      @ominousview 6 месяцев назад

      I imagine it would be a little better for some games cuz of the RAM speed (if different) but mostly from amount of shared RAM available, and how they set up VRAM. I think their default is Auto. It uses the same 780m iGPU so unless AMD made some tweaks i don't expect much more out of it. Most games I've played, even games like High on Life, Halo Infinite, Dead Space, the CPU isn't a problem. And I haven't seen a reviewer show this either, It is worth noting though that I do see, myself and seen reviewers, eke out a few more FPS using a vanilla 7840u vs the z1 extreme. so there could be a small perf boost coming from the 8840u, like 2--5 fps. But it would also depend on how they set up the power schemes to work with drivers and all that jazz

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  6 месяцев назад
