Do standard drivers need the VANTRUE N5 4 channel dash cam?

- In this video I take the family for a drive with the VANTRUE N5 4 channel dash cam. With great picture quality and a useful app, the dashcam is suitable for larger cars (such as our Citroen C4 Grand Picasso), but 4 channels - that means 4 cameras - it might be considered overkill for families.
Instead, it's ideal for ubers, cabs, minibuses, and other larger people carriers.

I've just got it because the rear camera now allows you to record when someone rams a car door into the vehicle. The front camera then records the license plate number. After two claims with the insurance company without the person who caused it coming forward, I'm now going to do this. So search is also interesting for private people.
What state are you in?
Can't be overkill, the more data and clear recordings you have in an accident the better and Amazon has a deal going on this model right now so I ordered for same day delivery. Hopefully it's as awesome as the reviews.
How is it?
@@ODK321 - Excellent, worth the money.
@@KlipschHead281it looks like it’s worth the money honestly
So how your battery life so far because where is this charger coming from in the cam are your car batteries when you in parked mode
Yea, 4 channel is a bit overkill for the average driver but great for Uber/Lyft drivers that need to record any and every encounter with passengers for insurance liabilities.
The average person just needs a front and back camera, maybe cabin too in case of police encounter and claims (no seat belt/distracted).
Maybe for the corrupted cops
This does seem like a little overkill for my use. I am not a Uber driver etc. Just someone driving to and from work which is a 20 mile commute each way. It’s my daily use car. I was just in an accident about 4 months ago and my car was totaled. It was his word against mine which really sucked. I was side swiped on the driver side back door mainly. Which dash cam do you recommend for me? Just front? I am looking at the brands Ventrue/Viofo/and or Fitcamx. Please let me know the brand and model you suggest for my needs.
Thank you.
See, this is a good example of why I would go with this dash cam it may be Overkill, but it will show the accident most people forget about the side impact that you will get.
And before you ask no, I'm also in the market for a dashcam as well. I'm looking at this exact dash cam the N5 and the blackvue DR970X Plus
@@bradhaughton6698 Which dashcam did you end up choosing?
I was looking to buy the Vantrue N4 Pro, and now I can't decide which one to buy. I'm not concerned about my window getting smashed, I don't live in a ghetto country. I also have a daily commute of 30 miles, so yeah, might pick Nexus 5.
Let me know which one you've bought!
Cheers!
You missed one use case: great for countries with corrupt / false police shakedowns.
Exactly. It's just that the reviewer don't live in a place where he has these kind of issues
the police would not expect that fourth camera if they try to write you some made up ticket or if somebody tries to make a false insurance claim?
I noticed the interior recording was in black & white at night. Is that the IR sensors kicking in, or am I missing something? I could change it from black & white to color on my N4, but I don't know if there is a way to switch on the N5.
I'm just curious does it make a significant difference with insurance between a 2 channel vs a 4 channel? I don't work for Uber and Lyft but I'm that one friend in the friend group who owns a big car to transport everyone to places.
Just curious when it comes to insurance coverage.
Fair question, and tbh I've only had reports of insurance improvements with dashcams from other people (and US based, at that). No insurer or broker I've used has made any significant discount.
But insurance aside, having that level of video coverage to observe everything is useful for law enforcement, too.
Hi mate great review. Can the camera be hard wired to the fuse box so you not have to use the cig lighter?
As I understand it, yes, but you need the hardwire kit for this. I can't hardwire anything on my car as the fusebox access is too small for my hands...

No nighttime driving tests gets this video a 👎🏻
I want a camera that records the front, back, and sides, inside and out. What should I get?
hi! You can't do tjhat with a single camera, it is theoretically possible with a multi-cam interior kit. I'm not aware of any product that can provide 360 (or at least 180, flat-plane) coverage of the exterior, however.
You need a Tesla
Vantrue has the new E360 that does that
@@TheGadgetMonkeyOGactually it is possible check out the IIWEY N5 4 channel dash cam 360 view.
Get the IIWEY N5 4 dash cam my friend don’t listen to this mf it is possible.
I have a Silverado standard cab. No back seats. Is this too much camera for me? What cam would you recommend for me?
Thank you !
Hi @crinerda. I usually use the Vantrue E2 (amzn.to/4aGLXHW) which I reviewed for MakeUseOf: ruclips.net/video/J4kHxpH8B2I/видео.html This has front facing, driver/passenger facing, and rear road facing cameras, so that should be all you need.
Take care out there!
I am a beginner. Can I get Driving Assistance ? Side View ?
Side view is only available via a combination of the cameras. No affordable 360-degree dashcam has been released to date.
ADAS is available with this dashcam, however I don't review this as I don't feel it is as accurate as built-in ADAS.
How is the readability of the license plates on the recorded video?
In your youtube video, the readability is not so great.
It's better than in the video, I've set the compression a little too high.
@@TheGadgetMonkeyOG Can you easily read the license plates in the original video?
@@petervandenberghe540 I've just checked the 2K footage, and yes you can.
Would be great if you can post few raw samples from all cams and attach the link in description. Especially when rolling at average speed sudden intrusion from opposite and the clarity of its number plate when both are in speed motions 😅
Is there a good camera that’s 4 channels 4k or better with lte cloud capable I was looking at the Vantrue n5 but not 4 k or lte I looked at the Vantrue n4 pro but no lte I looked at the Vantrue s1 pro but not 4 channel or 4 k but it has lte my wife and I are Uber and Lyft drivers it’s disappointing that there is not a manufacturer that can make this happen I also looked at the next base IQ there’s a lot of bad reviews and Blackvue there’s no 4 k with 3-4 channel without buying 2 DR970X-2CH Plus IR camera and viofo dash cam dose not have lte cloud I just wish these manufacturers would make one camera that can do it all
I don't believe such a camera is available at this time.
Sorry for interrupting. May I knoe why you need that?
