    🔴🔴 EDIT: further experimentation suggests to increase oven temperature to 120C and it will soften the butyl more without harming the casing and make it even easier to get the cover off without damaging the casing 🔴

    Always love watching your informative Saab videos as a Saab driver myself. A tip would be maybe use a heat gun to warm the glue to separate?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  3 года назад +1

      Some do advocate the use of a heat gun, but the lack of control would be an issue. You're likely to end up with uneven heating which may not soften the butyl enough in some areas (too cool0 and may damage the casing in others (too hot). I'm not saying you can't or couldn't, but I don't think it's as easy as some make out

    Great video
    But unfortunately many European manufacturers use permaseal glue instead of butyl, which takes triple the effort to take the headlights apart

    What sealant did you use for putting your headlights back together?

    • @CycloneCyd

      Easy Tiger❗ Rather than making one looooooong video 🍁 I'm making a mini series of 5 or 6 with each film 📽 showing a different stage of the build. I just haven't got as far as the "putting it back together" video yet. 🎓
      In the meantime though, if you're eager to get on this is the sealant I'll be using
      bit.ly/H_lamp_butyl 👍🖖

    Good morning. Saab headlight?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  4 года назад +2

      Yes 👍 The headlight I'm splitting in the video is a Saab 9-3 03-07 xenon unit. The method is pretty much the same for any headlight from any car though.

      @CycloneCyd  4 года назад +1

      @M yeah, some people use a large cardboard box and a heat gun!! A rather "uncontrolled" way of doing it IMO.

      @R S ha,ha. Wait patiently for the end result, I think you'll like it. And the DRLs won't be angel eyes ❕❕

      What temperature did you 'bake' them at? I started at 105C but at 120C the butyl softens real nice and they come apart so much easier.

      After watching the first video and seeing why my Vectra C's headlights are so poop, I couldn't wait to watch this. I've now decided to just use the spotlights to be able to see in the dark 😀
