So I’ve been tying my own flies for a few years now, still look into different patterns a lot and will for a lifetime. However, I have read on forums that it is better to just buy flies instead? Anyone believe this? I feel tying your own gives variety, and allows you to have a more durable fly with alterations that match your local hatches or bugs. What do y’all think!?
Not that a reply is any better, but for the sake of this video (and others), I think you'd be better off addressing a question like this in one of the forums you mentioned you've read or participate in. It's my belief that the "comment" section below a video such as this, should be reserved for specific Q&A in reference to said video. Not random discussion
If your only goal is to save money.... Not worthit . Maybe in the long run, but not short term. I've spent so much on tools and materials. It's more of a hobby for most. Most of the flies I tie get used pretty infrequently... There's maybe 12 patterns I use all the time. It's about creating something. I'm a terrible artist and can't draw so tying flies satisfies the creative side. So yeah, it's worth it to me. Wintertime hobby, I have every fly I could possibly need and it's more satisfying catching fish on your flies.
Dear god, man. Get a mouse pad or a book to bang the stacker on. That is outrageous.
😅
Nice video what size foam cutter for size #10 hooks. Thanks

Why would you come on a FLY TYING video and ask if it isn't just better to BUY flies?
