"They spend millions, or maybe even billions in some circumstances, on marketing to make you convinced that somehow that sugar in that water will make you cool, or trendy, or you'll have more friends, or you'll be better looking"
God I love this guy and his sense of sarcasm!
He literally gave facts!!
I have litterally shut closed all of my study books for Statistics and Economics and only learning from your videos. They are THAT brilliantly done! Thank you endlessly for the great in-depth explenations and clear visualisations!

Shout out to my boy Sal for keepin' me out of probation. #RealMVP
The best duopoly example can be the graphics cheap manufacturer company; Nvidia and AMD. And the monopolistic competition can be seen in the tech brand like asus, msi, gigabyte, sapphire etc that uses that cheap to make graphics accelerators as there are various change in their same type of products.
we don't know where the oil is, it's in the ground, but we don't know where it is
Dude!! You are a beast! Appreciate you making things so simple!
Great voice. You sir have a voice of a radio talk show

oligopoly comes from the words λίγο which-ligo- which means few and the word πωλώ-polo- which means sell
Khan Academy is just awesome!!! many thanks !!
if people just watched your videos when they were bored instead of tv/ads, the world would be a better place.
Thanks for that, you make a complicated topic sound very straightforward! And you helped me get through a Fri morning leaving certificate economics class. Mr Tucker Form 6 Economics at The King's Hospital, Dublin

if you haven't realized up to this point that our professor is using Khan Academy to teach the class, I recommend e-mailing him and asking him why we pay him to teach us something that we can get for free online.

why does the oligopoly has higher barrier entry sir?
Thank you
correction...The most famous Cartel is the Guadalajara Cartel.....lol...j/k...you helped me a lot with this video
Didnt know i knew about oligopolies and cartels watching Narcos: Mexico
For anybody revisiting this in 2023, apply this knowledge to the grip Blackrock and it’s counterparts have on the private sector having majority shares in 88% of the companies on the S&P. They use this voting power en masse working with their counterparts to force their agenda onto large companies, this agenda is widely known but it’s origins are unclear. What we do know is that the government (FED) is beholden to/facilitating this agenda which makes our Oligopoly far more sinister, it’s outright Fascism. Instead of voting in favor of the interests of the companies they own, Blackrock and its counterparts vote in favor of what advances their own business agenda which consists of both foreign and domestic pension funds. This mix of private and public money causes an undeniable conflict of interest that 1.) is highly illegal and 2.) hurst both ends of the spectrum, enriching only the Bureaucrats and hyper-billionaires that manage these firms.
Please God do not take my word for it, do the research yourself and ask yourself how different we are then Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany.
I thought poly meant power

The Centrsl Bankers are the most famous Cartel.
The price of money is colluded upon.
Pronounce like "Oleego" in Greek
Is the insulin market an oligopoly?
quick question and excuse my ignorance but how does the total surplus head to the consumers?
cheaper products means they have more buying power. Eventually taxes that help the entirety of thr populus with better infrastructure etc.
Online Food Delivery is Monopolistic or Oligopoly in India if we say
coke and Pepsi is not really an duopoly as it competes with drinking water and any other sources of liquid we drink. it's kind of a bad example.
real duopoly that can harm or restrict society is fedex and ups duopoly. no one really can just jump in and compete very easily. it may only create an oligopoly but still similar thing.
You forgot about the banking cartels
lol Sugar water
