I wish the voice command was like how it used to be do you know where you can change your wake up phrase And you can be more specific in the voice command
I miss that too. I still have an old GPS in my wife's car and just love how the voice commands work over the new one. But I do feel the software is much better on the new GPS.
Nice videos on this unit. I do have a question about it if you don’t mind. My main annoyance while driving is forced turn lanes. If you are on a 3 lane roadway, you need to go 5 more miles straight. If the far right lane turns into a RIGHT TURN ONLY lane at some point, will this garmin tell you to stay in the left two lanes? Can’t stand it when I need to go straight and the lane I’m in with heavy traffic ends up becoming a turn only lane and I HAVE to take it because I can’t get over. Google maps will not tell you this.
Honestly I have had a mix of both with the Garmin. I tested out on a trip from NY to FL and I would say it was about 60/40. 60 being that it told me to avoid the turn lanes.
Garmin should be congratulated for producing a combined system for GPS and dash cam. However, It is not clear whether there is a rear facing camera. Many cars need these two services as the in car systems are frankly shoddy or require an update that is so costly which is ridiculous. In addition, many OEMs are burdening cars with big screens that mean than for restoration, it will be easier to retromod than to repair.
Garmin website specifically says the display is [6.0" W x 3.5" H (15.2 x 8.9 cm); 6.95" (17.7 cm) diag] Sure would be nice if reviewers would look a few things up before they start reviewing things.@Wanderer001_Reviews
Does it let you edit a route? Meaning if you don’t want to go on highways or prefer one street you know will get you there easier, will it let you choose from multiple routes. I hope that made sense.
You can setup before do avoid highways, areas, or streets. Generally it will show you one route unless you tell it to show you alternatives. These two can be changed in the settings for faster time or shortest distance.
Thanks for the video, I have one on order. I will be mounting it onto my dash and not windshield. I have about 3" mounted disk glued to the top of my dash. I can't find a spec on how wide the suction cup is on the mounting bracket of this device. The vacuum cup looks very wide/large.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Thank you. I just received my drivecam today and testing it. However, the included mount does NOT allow mounting to the dash..........
@@Wanderer001_Reviews not sure what country you live in, but in most of the states in the United States, mounting the GPS on the windshield is illegal.
Yes that is the case where I live in NY. Well it is allowed but it is very well defined as to how it can be up there. And most the the new big GPS and very angled windshields will not let you do this. But it is one of those things every one does, at least around me.
Also, does it give you directions ahead of time. Will it say turn left at side Street then in 200 feet turn right because I have a problem with if there’s multiple left turn lane let’s say, it’ll just tell me to turn left so if I pick theinnermost left lane and it tells me after I turn to turn right I’m in the wrong turn lane. That’s a big thing with me. Thank you.
It is still a new unit for me so have not needed to look into replacing the battery, generally GPS with dash cam need to be plugged into power just to have them work. The battery would be gone in less then 20mins. As for license plates it depends on lighting conditions.
I have 2 of the previous models Garmin Drive assist 51 , they are unreliable junk always freezing , have Garmin fixed that with this new model . I had Garmin replace one under warranty , it was no different used to freeze , a mate has one it’s the same junk , so it was a problem with that model
@@Wanderer001_Reviews my drivesmart66 I had before never froze, but I’ve had a few issues with it just not starting or freezing. I would still recommend it though, it’s a great piece of kit
Hi, in application it is important for me to relate what is seen on the video to a location on a map. Can I achieve that with this device? For example, at 1:34:45 you saw this and your location x.
There is an option for the dash cam to record the exact location a video was taken as well as see it on the map. I just blanked those out on my videos fro privacey reasons.
Sad that it can't be mounted on a friction pad and placed on your dashboard. I've owned three Garmins, all have been placed on the dashboard. I live in the South and place a sun screen in the windshield every time I get out of the car. The design team screwed up with windshield only mounting. No wonder Garmin is in financial trouble!
I sent it back because it does not mount on the dash and takes up too much space on the windscreen, making it illegal to use! Also the software does not provide routes to choose from, like google maps , but is exactly the same , as the aging ( +10 years) that I have on my smaller version of the same that sits perfectly on the dashboard, so I sent the 600 euro version back and just bought an extra of my old one used - saved 560 Euro and it is legal, practical but the software sucks.
Legal sizes for GPS on your windshield is dependent on what part of the world you are in. I do agree it is a large unit and does not work in a dash mount. To get to route options is a little more work then something like Google maps. You would have to select options to avoid like toll roads ect. The smaller unit you are referencing does it also have a dashcam built in?
I had the car for MOT here in DK and was told to remove the Garmin DriveAssist™ 50LMT-D from the windshield - then I bought a great dashboard holder, and could reverse the cradle on the Garmin so you could mount it on the the dash and still use the camera - THIS IS WHAT THEY CHANGED ON THE 76 - you would have to design and 3D-print a new version of the cradle yourself to be able to reverse mount it and use the camera. THIS IS JUST BAD AND THOUGHTLES DESIGN. Just changing functioning design to make it useless and illegal - but not a single improvement to this 10 yar old software and interface. The drive assist 50 was way ahead of its time with assistive functioning through the integrated dashcam - now they are lagging behind with the 76,

Garmin does make a rear camera that is supported by this GPS.

8 for the full front. 7 for actual screen.

How did you get the x-wing? I had that a long time ago on a garmin, but the file to have it didnt work on newer models.
I did this to transfer the x-wing to my new GPS: ruclips.net/video/79-tm0InSpE/видео.html
My Garmin nüvi 1450LMT still gets updates but I'm looking to upgrade it.
That is what I did with this one too. Love that you can get updates for as long as Garmin does.
Hello is there a way to flip the screen 180 degrees. trying to install the unit on my RV behind the steering wheel.
It can ont be flipped. The Layout it hard coded.
Has Garmin changed anything since the video 10 months ago? With dash am included it used to be $499, now it’s $399
How do you get the real road view side by side with the “cartoon” looking map? I saw it on their site but haven’t found a video that shows it
That happens as you get close to intersections, this is part of the map data.
What is the difference between this model & the 76EX model please ?
Do you have a link to the ex version? I did not find it ehne I went to look.

I will be honest this is hit or miss. Some times it gives too many prompts about turning while others it will just say turn left at main street.
Basically it still sucks just like Waze or Google maps. Surprised that no lawsuits have been filed against them.
Unfortunately, no word on replacing the battery and no word on whether license plates are readable.

Does it read the speed limits from road signs or from preloaded maps?
It is based on map data.

If you purchase the maps for the location you are going then yes.
So it has a build in wifi router? Or it can connect to wifi?
It connects to wifi.

can it come with a rear view camera?
I have not seen it sold with the rear view camera but do know that it is compatable with it.
The rear view camera seems to be a useless reverse camera only
Does it have voice control

I wish they at least made a dash mount for it.
Does this work for HGV drivers?
Garmin has purpose built combo units for these types of drives call dezlCam. An example of one can be seen here: amzn.to/3vLRbm8
How much is it ?
Depends on where you but it from, anywhere from $400 - $425
