    Like you, I do extensive research before I buy just about anything. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. You answered all of my questions, including ones I didn’t even know to ask!
    The memory card was a huge concern of mine, and as I’m sure you’re aware of, not all memory cards are designed for dash cams, so they won’t all work.
    You pointed me in the right direction to a dash cam optimized memory card. Thanks a bunch! I plan to get one for sure!

      @@PompanoBrownie I just accidentally bought 2 of these from Best Buy. I opened one and it had severe screen responsiveness issues. It took 10 or more presses on the screen buttons. Or it would misread presses and do the wrong thing. Cleaning didn't help. I opened the other one, same thing. Did you experience this?

    • @PompanoBrownie

      Day, I never had any of those problems. Return both and buy from a different vendor. Make sure you are not using a skin cream that could cause this.

      Kim, the Garmin DriveSmart models allow doing map updates over wifi. A little less work than having to use your computer and a USB cable and Garmin express software. Here’s a decent model with that feature. The DriveSmart 65 for around 200 bucks.
      amzn.to/41wju2p
      The DriveSmart 66 is a bit newer with a higher resolution screen and Alexa features built in. It’s around 250.00 amzn.to/43svgwu

    Very nice video. Surly you worked hard to make this long clip which covers everything. Windshield mounting mostly keep on falling if outside temperature high. Did you find this problem often? What would be other alternative? For SUVs you select car or van? Thank you.

      You could try using a silicone lubricant gel on the suction cup.

      You don’t want to use petroleum based on rubber. I would set the taller setting for an SUV.

    Nice job. Your video is very helpful. I'm thinking more on the Drivesmart 86 though because of the higher resolution and option of portrait mode. 8" screen might be bigger than I need or want though, so yours isn't a bad choice. I'm guessing the 86 wasn't out yet when you did this video or something, since you called the 76 the flagship.

      The Camera Resolution is 1080p so signs are definitely readable, and license plates would have to be within approximately 6 Meters (18 Feet).

    A minor point, but if you have an Android phone with Google maps you can download the complete map for any area - even the entire US if you have enough storage. I have my state and most of the surrounding areas downloaded, so if I lose cell phone coverage, I can just rely upon the GPS signal - just like the Garmin.

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  3 месяца назад

      There no doubt that today’s Smartphone’s have a lot of ability. I prefer not having to remember to download maps in advance. Especially if I’m confronted with a emergency and have to rush someone to a hospital.

    • @imaprinta
      @imaprinta 3 месяца назад

      @@PompanoBrownie I do understand your trepidation, however, with Google you just have to download the maps once - and it will automatically download updates when you are on Wi-Fi (or if you're on an unlimited cell data system) as roads are added or diverted. You don't have to remember to do anything again - not unlike Garmin. Don't get me wrong, I do like Garmin. I added one to my older daily driver to replace my outdated GPS. However, for ease of use, phone and music integration, I prefer Google.

      Yes you can .. just like any voice dictation software you have to enunciate perfectly and better if your stopped while doing it. Personally I like using the Garmin Drive App on my smartphone and it will load the address the next time GPS fires up and App is running.

      I love my DriveCam. I think having the dash cam is a real plus in the event of an accident and having proof of what occurred. The voice commands and the app on your phone make it a breeze to input a destination. The real-time traffic has alerted me to alternative routes in traffic jams too. Go for it, you won’t regret it.

    So this garmin can record both camera and maps

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  Год назад +1

      The DriveCam automatically saves video of incidents. GPS data shows when and where events occurred. It doesn't actually record the Map, it records the lattitude and longitude coordinates and the speed of the vehicle in miles per hour.

    • @PompanoBrownie
