This was filmed throughout February before all the craziness started. Stay safe out there!
What is the delay between recording and uploading your videos?
U should stay safe too
You too man. Looking forward to your quarantine videos. Tons of studio stuff, maybe?
@@joshchristopher679 on my reverb page, link in the description!
Aliexpress has a buuuunch of inexpensive drum parts. I bought a large amount of stuff for less than 300 bucks with shipping. I'm talking 90 lugs, 40 tension rods, 40 bass drum claws, and a bunch of other stuff.
The lens flare isn’t from the sun.
It’s from his glorious beard
Hell Yeah
Omg I tried liking that 10 times
David, i think you have an addiction for buying drums at this point.
He's making money from it too
Is it addiction when you make money off of it?
Actually yeah probably
I have a dozen Pearl air vents... I'll drop one in an envelope for ya, I'll never use all of them.
I’m a little concerned about Dave guys, his addiction is getting out of control.
With the granstars his last name should be Grohl
Practicing would do him more good by far...
I understand. I do this with microphones and drums to a lesser degree.
This is this man's passion. As long as He is not using a credit card he will be OK ! Cash talks, BS walks...
I imagine David being some kinda salesman. Somewhere in the middle east down some back ally in a bazaar and you see this huge carpet with him sitting in the middle surrounded by all sorts of drums. He tells you tales about each drum and gives you the history all while looking at your bag of gold hungrily. He doesn't need it, he wants it. He wants you to buy his drums. He is the wealthiest yet most hidden man in the bazaar, only the lucky and the curious stumble upon him.
😂 this is amazing
government: stay inside
david: time to travel the whole world and buy every kit in sight
This was filmed throughout February before all this craziness started. Stay safe!
@@rdavidr you too
Man fuck the government
Snoopy Six but fuck the specific stay at home orders though, not actually the whole gov
Im a simple guy when I see rdavidr I click.
Facts
That 24" has the original gold silk inlays-nice!!!
yay more drums that we wont see anytime in the future
I suffer from the same buy/sell addiction. Mine only recently extended from guitars/amps into drums. The fact I enjoy watching other people’s wheeling/dealing might say something
Man,America is insane market for drums. There's no way you could hook-up any of the stuff here in oz
Thanks so much for your videos! I'm a long time drummer for 35 years. I've seen it all or at least I thought I have ! I enjoy everything about your vids from your performances, to the drum hacks , to repair and restoration. You do great work . But, what I enjoy even more is your no- nonsense ,bullshit free down to earth attitude and work ethic. Something that's in short supply these days. Thanks again man!
FUN FACT!! That snare drum was used by Jeff Buckley’s drummer. If you want to hear it check out his live in Chicago videos on RUclips. It is an absolute CANNON!!!
Yea you should do a uphaul on any drum kit and stain it during the lockdown as that will be a fun video to watch as I’m looking to stain a ddrum diatribe kit and I would love some help ! So making this video reaquest would make my day (or lockdown) 🙌 thanks
That's way too many drums you have now, let us take a few of them off your hands. You know, so you have more room.
He even said he doesn't know what to do with the acrylics. Might as well give them away (to me please)
@@FullOnRhinosaur uh I told him to give them away how about we just go 50/50
0:00 so majestic.
Great video david! More videos! This is so rad.
Bro, have you ever gotten the chance to combine all or most of the drums into one huge kit? I wanna see the large drum set you could have
You keep this up David, and I’m gonna report you to the TV show, “Hoarders!”
Just kidding... 😎
a new video! wonderful morning!
Jonah Woodside you are first
I've found that Remo snare sides seem to have a deeper collar on them so the hoop will sit flush with the bearing edge without me cranking it. I switched to Aquarian and no issues.
nice wood that pearl at t
he end
A good interface is a sound investment
Starving kids in Africa can use those drums david
Kids starving for funky rhythms.
It’s true, we need them
I’m sure they make way better drums than we’ve ever seen before
Bro that's dope you have some old school marching tri toms! Try to put them back together and sell them? (Left to right) 24 , 20 , 22 . I would love to see that man .
When all drums disappear from this world, we all know where they are...
You’re going to keep your WOODEN Tama Superstars, but not ACRYLIC Ludwig Vistalites?!
You now have two options of a beautiful drum kits... in very similar sizes. Get it?
That dude from meshuggah might want em, his studio has a kit made entirely of Ludwig bass drums
hell yes new video
Nobody gonna talk about the fact he just sold hundreds of dollars worth of mics for $50!!!???
I'd kill for a deal like that!
Hey bud can you please upload a video on proper pre cleaning used drums and post maintenance.. or if you have one already can you send me the link....Thanks...
That Pearl 12" x 7" Soprano snare drum is fantastic for Latin work with snares off as a timbale. I loved mine, and gave it to a friend who plays in a great Latin pop band. It has a thicker Maple shell [8ply 10mm] which gives it surprising body and crack. Suggested upgrades would be Puresound snares and experiment w/ different batter heads, especially Aquarian Vintage and Evans UV2 translucent. Nice restoration, as always!
Please please please set up as many of your drums as you can at the same time and build an Neil Peart/Alex Van Halen style massive kit
I can never hold my tongue when listening to people tell me lies whilst trying to sell me something.
Hey David, Got any tips on keeping shipping costs down? I live in a more rural area and there isn’t much interest in music gear. Shipping is pretty much the only way I can get rid of stuff. So yeah, any help is better than none.
If you can ship from someone's business, do it. They usually pay less for a commerical rate
Will you be selling that red wine/maroon Grandstar kit you just bought? I love the deep toms. They record like cannons with the right head combination. Keep on rocking in the sort of free world 🤘🥁
They sold the day before I uploaded this video lol
@@rdavidr that's a bummer. You didn't give your subs a chance at an offer. A little bummed out. I'm looking to make a change from my Ludwig super classics. My kit, 1995 Deep purple lacquer 20×14 kick 8×8 10×10 12×12 toms 14×14 floor tom 5.5×14 Black Galaxy finish Acrolite. I've toured for 5yrs and recorded 4 albums with her. I feel bad about selling her or trading up. Weird, right? Life rocks on 🥁🤯🤘
@@BobbyJetty1502 I totally understand the feeling. But if you want to keep up with everything Im selling check Reverb page often since stuff typically gets posted for sale there before the videos come out.
@@rdavidr will keep checking. 🥁🤘
I'm a total novice drummer but I would totally buy that Ludwig amber kit, that thing is rad! But my wife said I have to learn to play the kit I have now before I buy anything else, dang.
Smart wife ;)
You should check out heartbeat and Istanbul cymbals, trust me they’re crazy good
Im looking for a 12' tom to add to my pearl roadshow kit
Hi Dave. Love your channel and ingenuity! I have a 70's Ludwig chrome over wood kit in my home studio. Three toms and a 22" bass. It's in decent condition for it's age. I want to scale down to a smaller jazz kit. I have a good 14" snare. (65 ludwig marine pearl) What's the best band for my buck? I should ask what what you buy? I am not a drummer! Thanks!
you can do a more studio review and studio videos ?
Seeing this makes me want to buy everything being sold on reverb asap
I wanna see how a snare would sound like if there was a port hole like a bass drum
Yo what up, it's my birthday.

Anyone looking for a 80’s 24/13/16 Tama Superstar with T Badges! $350 (players condition/ no hardware or cymbals) Located in Los Angeles!
I have a ludwig super star 100th anniversary
This Granstar actually looks nice! Is the sound any good?
And there Ludwig concert toms are just ridiculous, have you thought about converting one 22" into bass drum and another one into pancake drum?
You should make a giant drumset with the concert toms using them as regular toms
Email pearl about the air vent when I did they sent me one for free without even responding to the email
I have that exact Pearl soprano drum. I used it as my main snare for almost 8 years, its great sounding drum and perfect for when you have to stuff a kit onto a small stage.
I have those CAD pencil mics. They're meh but they work.
Isn't that white footboard stand the first stand you bought? I couldn't ever sell something like that
Looks cool
I’ll trade you my 16” blue vistalite concert tom on legs for one of those Ludwig chrome Toms. I’ll send a Facebook message.
me: sees rdavidr thumbnail
me: clicks
Have a nine piece Smokey Vistallite four curved spur 16x24, power tom depths, 6,8,10,12,13,14,16,single head. No cracks.
I wanna ear those giants concert toms 😁😂
I have a Ludwig Vistalite drum kit..clear blue original series circa 1976. 5-piece with Supersensitive 5 x 14" COB snare. Drums in really great shape no cracks just a few scuff marks. It's a player kit I don't 'buy and flip' drums per se. Paid considerably more for my Vistalite kit but I'm OK with that love playing them. That Vistalite kit you picked up looks to be that classic 'Zep' configuration.
Hey man. I just bought a 76 vistalite kit that didn't inlcude L arm brackets. Would know the size of those L arm brackets? I'm thinking of going woth Gibralter replacement arms as they are cheaper. I believe the sizes are 9.5mm, 10.5 mm, and 12.7mm. Any advice would be appreciated.
Does anyone know how to tell a real drum kit from a counterfeit? Mostly for a Pearl kit?
I haven't even watched the video yet and have only looked at its thumbnail... I'm having a bit of a crush on a woman named Amber at the moment, and quite funny: Her name keeps popping up around me, too! Like, there was a mention of a ring with an amber stone in the book I'm currently reading, then I was watching a video about a vintage Gibson guitar and its colour was called 'Trans Amber'...and yesterday I came across a photo on my hard drive of a collection of John Bonham kits in a German drum museum, so I drooled over those drums for a moment before moving on... Then today the same photo popped up again on facebook, and they were saying that the orange kit in it was an 'Amber Vistalite' - and that's exactly what the kit in the thumbnail looks like, too! X-)) *EDIT* Thank you for adding to my 'Amber' synchronicity with your cool video, David! May you and all your loved ones be well in these unusual times, and this goes to everybody else here, too! :-)
I'm interested in Roto Toms and Cocktail kits.. Cajons and the likes nesting drums compact portable.. WWDD = What Would David Do? I'm a street busker/ acoustic small room recording guy and I made a mistake and sold my Mixto Gon Bops cajon
What a coincidence.. I just bought a used 12x7 Black Panther snare last month! Gave it a nice clean and removed some rust on the rims and put it back together. It sounds great.
Hope you’re doing fine man.
Dude's gone Straight down the rabbit DRUMHoLE...It gets deep!
your flipping and thrifting skills are impressive, but for Pete's sake don't vlog and drive!
can we hv a simple way to set a three piece drum set and a micing it....tour!!
How are you finding so many acrylic ludwig kits in VA?!
The kick was in maryland actually. but there was another blue vistalite in richmond for sale not long ago
@@rdavidr that's pretty sick. I have a pearl SensiTone if you're interested. I'm in VB
You should Mount your Hardware and Craft Storage Cabinet Drawers on your walls give you more room. just a thought. stay safe bro.
Came upon your video by chance. I see you are a "drumiologist person" , or just a drum "picker".😎
Is it rude to ask how much you actually payed for the vistalites?
Greetings from germany
those ludwig steel concert toms would make the worlds biggest timbales. how much would you want for just 1 pair of them ?
I have a double bass set of the transparent Ludwig's.. pick them out of a barn
LEEEEEENNNNNZZZZ FLLLLAAAAARRRREEE
How much for that crash behind the silver drum set? It looks like a A custom Rezo.
I also need an air vent for my pearl snare. Where can I get one and did you get new hoops for the snare. The hole sizes isn't normal as in the number of lugs.
Shoulda took the 22” concert toms joined them together made a super long kick drum and use the 20” and make a snare
Have a dw chrome 5 1/2 collector series, asking 650, come on lets deal.
Can you do a DIY Zildjian Spiral Stacker Cymbal?
Can you or did you make a video on how to make the lug gaskets with equipment list etc?
My friend was hit by a drum kit the other day...
The doctor says he has a _percussion_
Hhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa
@@ericmsandoval thank you thank you very much eric I am here all night
You'd think these type of videos would br weird but I love them
I'm seriously speaking and asking can you donate a kit to a drummer in need please
Can you do a video on the snare please. I have the same snare just want to see a recondition on it.
Do you still have the amber vistalites ludwig ? Love to buy them
Do I buy chance have the Pearl 12x7 snare for sale?
all those vistalites. jealous. good money will be made on those.
if you are interested in buying drums please let me know!
lowkey look like manfred from ice age 💀
I’ve noticed that thrift have drum kits lately
Sure try to mount a snare with the air vent
“So, yeah....”
My name is Wyatt, but I do not have an interface 😔

You’re the guy, thanks buddy!
My fathers kit is a Granstar, 14 inch snare, and toms go, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16. Used to be wrapped yellow and he stained them a dark blue since the wrap was ruined. Love the sound of them, and just recently got a Superstar Classic kit
So I'm restoring my buddies beat up Pearl Forum and I've restored other kits as Well to the point Im pretty comfortable being "that drummer." But I was wondering of you have any tips for someone who would like to do what you're doing. Buying, restoring, flipping? HUGE fan ive watched all your vids. Thank you for being an influence for me. Stay safe
Imagine finding the kit you’ve been wanting for a while and ending up buying it from the man, the myth, the legend himself
I think you should do the Bonham Shuffle
Seems fine to me. Thank god I'm not alone.
