I think if you succeed the first mission without dying you get the choice with the mission in the home. Connor is unique, the more he survives he aggregates experience, if he dies each time then hes reset and doesnt build experience and simply goes by settings and commands.

It's interesting to see that Natalie's started out with a pretty low sense of empathy for the androids so far. Several times throughout her playthrough she's had justified people's bigotted views towards Androids: she justified the mobs violence towards Marcus by mentioning that they've lost their jobs. As if the androids, and not the corporate entities that created the androids, are to blame for that. It's the exact same failure of logic that leads blue collar people to scapegoat poorer immigrants for "taking their jobs" negating the humanity of immigrants instead of blaming the powerful oligarchs who actually amass the wealth at the top. It's interesting to see how she comes along as the game inevitably establishes the Android's humanity more and more. The obvious point of the game is what is deserving of humanity? And humans have been asking and failing that questions since antiquity (case in point the three-fifths compromise): the correct answer is "cogito, ergo sum": "I think and therefore I am".
I'm still going to watch, but I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty frustrating playthrough for anyone who has played/watched this game before. Nat never really explores in games like this and that is a crucial element of DBH. Going to be a whole lot of confusion on her part and missed story opportunities, but that's just as valid a way to play the game as any. I'll just have to brace myself for the likelihood that she's going to get a lot of the sad endings.
What are these comments?? watching someone play this with fresh eyes is an experience in itself, besides the best ending gameplay is 10 hours and in my opinion just a little too predictable. the fact she doesn’t already know any prior knowledge makes her decisions more unexpected it’s entertaining
Exactly. If you wanna see a "pro gamer" who wont mess anything up go search that. Being annoyed at a casual gamer with unfamiliar controls (that the audience requested btw) for not knowing exactly what to do and being unfamiliar with the controls is stupid. I've seen some of her movie reactions before this and its pretty refreshing seeing her take on this game. For example, I've never seen that specific outcome for Connor in the intro scene. I've only seen him fall off the building or walking away after saving Emma.
@58:15 You can't blame people for "stealing your job" You blame the people who hire them to take your job over, even today robots that do work are rented out to the business So the company's not getting free labor
Unemployment in the D:BH universe is over 37%, compared to 4% in reality. (During The Great Depression, that figure was about 25%). That means over 100 million Americans are unemployed. In a situation like that, there isn't going to be a nuanced political discussion over whose fault it is; there will be riots in the streets.
For those like me who read comments before watching: don’t let the complaints about her not exploring enough dissuade you from watching. She has some problems with this at first, but so did so many of us at first! Just by the end of this first video she’s already exploring and doing more. Enjoying so far!
As you play through areas and unlock things, it gives you options later. For instance, you noticed in the first segment cleaning in Alice's place that there was a gun and a window to escape. Then sh went down, you could have gotten the gun to confront the dad since you unlocked it. You've seen the Markus android actor from The Cabin in the Woods years ago, you might remember the hot guy in the 1-way mirror scene. Hank is Clancy Brown, you know him as Mr. Krabs, the one dude from Starship Troopers, and the guard from Shawshank as a few of his roles. Loved playing through this game and the music really sold it for me. I messaged one of the composers (Nima Fakhrara) on the former bird app about how much the score really sucked me into the experience and how it wouldn't have had the same impact without it. It continuously gave me goosebumps while playing. He got back with me and thanked me. Enjoy the ride!
I hate to sound like a backseat gamer, but considering many others are laying it out I guess I will too but in a constructive way: You need to look around for more clues 💀. This game is incredibly detailed and stunning to experience but only if you treat it like everything’s a mystery that has clues to find, and making judgement calls based on sound reasoning. I’m aware everybody plays the game their own way, and they’re entitled to do so, but for the simple reason of making your experience of this game and others like this more enjoyable for you, I strongly recommend taking things a little slower. There are clues *everywhere* in basically every sequence or scene, so take your time in finding them and planning your course.
Nat, in case nobody has told you yet, the awkward, limited control of the camera is part of the game design. It's a feature. The studio is called Quantic Dream. It;s their trademark style of game. It's well worth playing through multiples times, and making different decisions to see all the narrative paths. There's a lot of social commentary in this game.
Having played this pre-covid, I quickly realized how insanely detail-oriented this game is. If you're not exceedingly observant and do not completely investigate and analyze every area you're in, you WILL miss a lot, which will impact the story - such as the broken aquarium tank and the fish on the floor you could have saved.
