Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses how to prevent and treat shin splints.
There are a couple of different types of shin splints. Today, I discuss the type of shin splints that involve the muscle known as the tibialis anterior.
During this time of year (spring) people start to get outside more to exercise. After a winter of inactivity, they decide to begin walking, running, hiking, etc. This can quickly result in over use of the tibialis anterior and thus the onset of inflammation (shin splints).
In today's video, I discuss and demonstrate two things. First, how to prevent shin splints by stretching and exercising the tibialis anterior prior to the start of your spring running/walking/hiking program.
Second, how to fix your shin splints if you are currently suffering with them.
Give the stretches, exercises and fascial release techniques a try for a few weeks. Leave me a comment in the comment section down below and let me know how the techniques worked for you.
