This is similar to human behaviour. The elephant knows a good spot to position itself for potential handouts. This is endangering the elephant and people in the short term whilst in the long term it will lose it's natural ability to find food in the forest making it susceptible to disease and predators.
That's what we have done. Not only elephant but every animal. Animals ain't getting enough food and resources because we have already replaced those resources from man-made things such as building, bridge, industries and everything that satisfies human infinite hunger.
I really like the way he challenges the moterists. But when it realises they are of no threat to it he allows them to pass! I think he is lonely and like company of humans. Very cute.

People go to Kataragama to offer fruit puja to Skandha Kumara Devalaya along this road and some of them have fragnent fruits in the vehicles ( carrying for the pooja). This elephant awaits until they give it some. There was only one bribe taking elephant over a long time but i've heard that there was this another one joined the party in last few years. 🤣

I think it is totally unwise of providing foodstuffs to wild animals while moving in vehicles because these practices of some people may prompt wild animals like elephants to reach roadsides everyday as a habit in order to collect foodstuffs.
Exactly as Kim Sing has said the people who are in the vehicle recording the elephant is trying to provoke the animal and trying to capture an incident. This should be investigated by wild life protection ministry. If the vehicle just left the place the elephant would have gone in to the jungle after sometime. Over to you minister in charge of wild animals (not these types of human wild animals).
