- Is Celebrity Beyond the best ship at sea? I just got off of this new ship and am ready to review the ship and my cruise experience to tell you what you need to know. Is Beyond better than Apex & Edge?
I am sailing on Celebrity Cruises’ brand new ship the Celebrity Beyond. The Celebrity Beyond is like the Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge, but with many new additions to this new ship. The new cruise ship Celebrity Beyond is the brand new ship of Celebrity Cruises. The Beyond had her inaugural sailing in April 2022, followed by an inaugural season in the Mediterranean. The Celebrity Beyond is captained by Captain Kate McCue and will be repositioned via a transatlantic in October 2022. The Celebrity Beyond will then be home-ported in Fort Lauderdale, where the new Celebrity Beyond will sail cruises to the Caribbean.
In this Celebrity Beyond full review video, I tell you all about Celebrity Beyond, including the new Sunset Bar. The Sunset Bar on Celebrity Beyond is on the aft of the ship and was designed by Nate Berkus. The World Class Bar is a new addition to the Edge Class ship, located directly beside the new atrium featuring the Martini Bar. Le Voyage is a new restaurant on Celebrity Beyond. I tell you many ways in which Celebrity Beyond is different from the Celebrity Apex and the Celebrity Edge. Is Celebrity Beyond better than Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge?
This 9-day voyage on Celebrity Beyond will visit Naples, Sicily, La Spezia, Santa Margherita, Nice, and Marseille. Celebrity Beyond will then disembark in Barcelona, Spain. My future videos will be a food review of Celebrity Beyond food, as well as a full ship tour of Celebrity Beyond. My husband and I have been on the Edge twice.....once on the Apex.... loved them... We are booked for Beyond in November and we can't wait........

Zach, we were also on the same cruise (although we never ran into each other) and I can echo your evaluation. Crew was awesome, food was excellent, ship was beautiful and the excursions not so great. We too had an issue with our stateroom bathroom where the toilet backed up into the bathroom and made a mess. They sent our stateroom attendant down to clean it up as well as plumbers to check it out. After they left, we noticed a smell of sewer gas in the hallway and again let them know. They sent several people out to fix the issue. The next morning one of the officers called us and upgraded our room to a Sky Suite and told us we would be more comfortable there....and we were. It's understandable that a new ship with have some issues with the various systems on it and they never let that ruin our experience. Kudos to Captain Kate who my wife absolutely adores. It just so happens that Capt Kate was on a tender going into Santa Margarita to do some shopping. She took time to take pictures with us and we told her that we were there because of her and Bug Naked. She said her parents won't even go on a cruise with her and was much appreciative. Loved everything about our experience. Thanks for your review!

I am also a huge fan of the Edge Class. Just booked the Beyond for Jan 2023 followed by a back to back on Apex. Did you get a chance to meet Captain Kate or at least hear her speak? She is truly an inspiration to everyone, especially young women. Love your content, Keep it coming!

Happy to read your review as I will be on the beyond in September! I usually organize my excursions by myself or with the support of local tour operators and usually I pay less and live my experience in a more authentic way. Very close to Marseille there is Aix en Provence and Arles not to missed!!

Zach, in October 2019 I went on the EDGE and loved it! It was from Roman and did the Greek Islands, etc. This past January I was on the APEX on a western Caribbean cruise, again in a Sky Suite and loved it! I have considered a TransAtmlantic crossing, but am not prepared to do Cunard yet, so I have elected to do Beyond’s repositioning cruise from Barcelona to Cape Liberty starting on October 12th. Thank you for your positive review of this longer version of the EDGE class ships! I am hoping that this will make the Beyond a great compromise for a TransAtlantic sailing!

@@ZachtheTravelingMan I forgot to add that while the past two cruises on the EDGE and APEX we were in Sky Suites so we had a wide range of restaurants, on the Beyond/TransAtlantic crossing I am only opting for Concierge Class. This will be different: my first Infinity Veranda and a primary restaurant, though I am sure I will revisit LeGrand Bistro!
I enjoyed the Concierge Class when I had it on Apex. Still so many great options for food! And more money to enjoy specialty dining.
Have booked this ship for an 11 night cruise next year for our honeymoon .Greek Isles,Italy and Turkey.. so excited 😊

We did our first Celebrity cruise on Edge in September of 2021....fell in LOVE with the simple elegance of the ship, the fabulous shows, crew and of course Captain Kate. We stayed in a aft sky suite. We normally sail on Royal's Oasis class ships and stay in grand or owners suites. We are now hooked with Celebrity. I think the Retreat area is hands down much nicer than Royal's suite amenities! Booked on Beyond for this November 2022 and next November 2023! Sky suites as well. So excited!!😁 thanks for your input.

Thanks Zach! We loved Apex and are back on Apex in the fall. There are aspects of Celebrity's Solstice class that we like as much if not more, but it looks like some of these were "fixed" on Beyond.

We were on the Edge in December last year. The lobster in the Luminea was the best I ever had! Not to be missed!

The best part of your room change experience is that they followed up with you a few days later. You stated, if I understood, that you took your return Covid test on the ship. Was that with the eMed kit, if so did you have any issues staying connected during the process? We love following you on your adventures and agree Celebrity’s is an excellent line.
Thank you for the nice comment, Michael! They did a great job of taking care of me, I just felt bad for being that person complaining about noise, but it was quite bad. I did do the eMed and I took that with me so I could test before getting off the ship. Celebrity was selling them, but not distributing them until you were completely outside the terminal building at debarkation. I had no issues with connectivity and I was on the Premium WiFi package. I had a few great burgers on the Apex, but nothing as incredible as the Luminae burger. Our first suite experience on the Apex has spoiled me. I was warned.
I definitely want to try that out sometime. The Le Grand Bistro is the best burger I’ve ever had.

Hi Zach, great review of ur trip. Was considering Le Voyage but might consider fine cut instead. Were the wings from Rooftop grill? How were they? I can’t pass up wings anywhere. Burger will be a must in Bistro. We’re booked on Beyond in November. First Edge class cruise. We’ve been on 14 Celebrity cruises, really liked Summit & Solstice class too. Look forward to ur review of one of these. 👍🏼
Hey Larry, thanks for the nice comment. I’d recommend skipping Le Voyage but for Eden! Don’t miss Eden. I wasn’t a big fan of Fine Cut when I sailed the Apex, so I don’t go there anymore. The wings were so delicious and were from Rooftop Grill. Definitely eat there! And of course the lunch at Le Grand. I hope you have an amazing trip on Beyond. I’ll be on a Solstice class ship very soon. 😉
Well the next ship, the Ascent should be even better! Your noisy neighbors are common. Glad there was low occupancy to accommodate you. Get some ear plugs, they will change your sleep.

another great informative vid Zach....the points you made about the gift shop that's my fear with Excursions as they use as an opportunity to upsell folks ...and the concern with being late tends to steer people from doing you're own thing....would be good to know if celebrity allows you to plan your own excursions, i've heard cruises or maybe it's only at some ports don't allow? ....Glad to hear Guest svcs was flexible like that but wat if there were no available rooms...u would think with Aqa class the type of people would be more understanding...but i guess this is one of the risks of cruising... cheers
On this cruise we could go ashore on our own anywhere we’d like to. However, I know that is still restricted in some ports, depending on the country. Thank you for watching and for your comment.
When it comes to Retreat All Inclusive, what is actually included? It looks like drinks are included. Unlimited?
What about food? You get exclusive access to the restaurants and spas, but do you have to pay extra for them? Or are they included?
Also the onboard credit they give you, if it’s $800 onboard credits, you can use it anytime during the trip? Or is there a limit of how much a day?
Great review, I hope you do ok with that lava rock, never take a lava rock from the land anywhere, the fire god Pele will mess with your world.
My wife and we’re not all that impressed with Beyond during our recent western Mediterranean cruise. It was lacking nightlife compared to RCL. Also lacking adventure type onboard amenities as compared to RCL.

Thank you for watching. Yes I did! I made so many calls and received so many calls while on the premium internet and it worked so great. Never dropped my call or lagged or anything. This has been my experience on all the Edge ships. There’s a router in each room!
I'm the exact opposite on the comedians - I don't usually enjoy them, nor the variety acts. I'm more of a fan of singing & dancing. If they did more comedians, I'd never go to a show. Haha I will be working remotely from Beyond in October, we have 5 sea days heading from NJ around the Caribbean then finally finishing in FL. I don't upload videos, but I do connect remotely to my desk in the office so I'm hoping it works.

Oh man, it was SO good. Definitely get that for lunch at Le Grand Bistro.
Shows in the Club and Eden had limited seating, based on my experience of the inaugural sailing on Beyond. Pretty soon words got out and people went there an hour early just to make sure there are seats. This is a great wasted time of the precious time in the evening.

Is it easy to get to Pompeii from Naples was this excursion offered?
Yes! They do have an excursion that just does Pompeii. I went on one that was Sorrento and Pompeii and that was super long. I would recommend the afternoon Pompeii visit if that’s all you want to see.

Hey can u do the Covid test at the Rome port
Not that I saw. I believe testing is on your own and the cruise line isn’t offering testing at the port for those who have been vaccinated.

It’s pretty big! Not the largest at sea but still a big ship.
