    I like the rankings, that’s why I love the Sith Inquisitor and Warrior storylines so much in SWTOR. Someone like Darth Thanaton and Darth Jadus would be interesting focuses for extended novels outside the main storyline. I always went lightside to see the different dialogue options and explanations of Sith doctrine by NPC Sith. I even chose purple/black crystals for my lightsaber before learning of their true nature within the Sith community.

    Around the time that the Rule of Two came into existance, it seemed more common for each individual to choose their new name when they began their studies. Dessel chose the name Bane when he was told that many acolyte chose a new name to signify their new life. Zannah inverted this a littlewhen Bane found her by choosing her birth name since she had gone by the nickname "Rain" for years. The Huntress chose the name Cognus while waiting for the power struggle between Zannah and Bane to conclude.
    The fact that Zannah didn't have Set Harth choose a new name could be considered foreshadowing/hindsight that he wasn't going to be a Sith.

    Honestly, I thought the ranks were:
    Sith Emperor
    Darth
    Sith Lord
    Sith Overseer
    Sith Apprentice
    Sith Acolyte
    I was under the impression that a Marauder was a class of Sith warrior.

    • @shadowwolf6460
      @shadowwolf6460 2 года назад +20

      you are correct marauder is a subclass off warrior and mirrors the jedi guardian though acolyte would be a sith hopeful of sorts only becoming an apprentice once you have been deemed worthy to train under a master that holds the rank of sith lord or higher

    • @SINDRIKARL1
      @SINDRIKARL1 2 года назад +31

      Dunno what source he's using, but according to SWTOR (one of the most notable sources from the era he's talking about) The sith ranks are from lowest to highest; Acolyte (Before a sith gains a master, they are trained in groups by overseers), Apprentice (Once an acolyte is selected by a higher ranking sith for 1 on 1 training), Sith Lord, Darth and then Dark Lord of the Sith (Who also held the title of Darth). While there were many Sith Lords and Darths there were only ever a maximum of 13 Dark Lords of the Sith; The 12 members of the Dark Council and the Emperor. Marauder and Juggernaut are disciplines, how a sith fights, not ranks. Overseer is a position, always held by a Sith Lord, often a rather low ranking one cause they are often outranked by other Sith Lords.

    in SWTOR you are first of all an 1. acolyte. These answer to the general instructors or overseers within the Sith Academy at Korriban. It probably worked this way for Sith academy on Ziost (later destroyed when Ziost was destroyed by the Emperor) and elsewhere - however Korriban was the "elite" or "ivy league" school of the Sith.
    Then you become an 2. apprentice when you have a Lord (or Darth) take you on.(Lord Zash/ Darth Baras).
    When you are promoted, you become a 3. Lord
    4. When you overthrow your master you become a 4. Darth
    In the game you become more than this, as either the Emperor's Wrath or part of the -
    5. Dark Council - the 12 who rule the Empire and each has a part of the Imperial Government - Spheres of Influence.
    6. Above this level is the EMPEROR.
    Warriors/Marauders/Inquisitors are subclasses of the above.

      cannon wise aka George Lucas's interpretation that is a major reason why the sith went extinct everyone wanted to be the big bad evil guy and just drove themselves to extinction over their selfish actions in legends thou the massive expansion made then make sense somewhat picture tradition of constantly thinking your apprentice won't defeat you and then be surprised he actually defeats you so basically an assistant that from time to time tries to kill you.

    Actually according to Legends you're actually forgetting a few ranks. After sith Lord it goes Darth and then it goes master and a lord does not have to be a Darth after sith Master it goes the dark lord of the sith then it goes emperor. Sometimes those two titles are intertwined and they're the same one. Also right above a sith apprentice was a sith acolyte an acolyte was one rank above The apprentice because they actually knew a little bit more knowledge of the force and the dark side itself then The apprentice these ranks are demonstrated in the Kotor 1 and Kotor 2. As you usually saw lords taking orders from Masters.

Using the black saber for quick confusing light attacks then switch to the dense heavy lava crystal to break there defense

I did at first , I'm pretty sure " Dark Lord of the Sith" is either very close to or just another name for a "Darth". If they aren't interchangeable then I think they're very close in power level both metaphorically speaking and literally.

      No. "Lord" and "Darth" are both honorifics that can be used interchangeably. In the Rise of the Empire era, the only Sith Lords who existed had Darth titles. In older eras, there was a distinction. A lot of people think any Darth is stronger than any Lord, but that's a poor read. Many Sith Lords were extremely powerful, capable of killing any other Sith they would so choose. Lord Scourge was an example. Lord Fulminiss was another. Both served the Sith Emperor from the SWTOR videogame

    There were two classes of Sith each having two advanced classes, Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor. The Warriors are divided into Juggernauts (heavy armor, single lightsaber, straightforward force powers) and Marauders (medium armor, twin lightsabers, more esoteric force powers) The inquistors were divided into Assassins (saberstaff, light armor, stealth powers) and Sorcerers (single lightsaber, light to med armor, spells, illusions, alchemy, and aaalll kinds of lightning powers)

    A generalist, one-size fits all description of "Sith ranks" in the entirety of the Old Republic period is impossible. Sith were a dime a dozen, and the many different incarnations existed. For example, the Sith Brotherhood of Exar Kun never doled out Darth titles. Even the Dark Lord himself wasn't one. On the other hand, Vitiate's empire in the shadows had a strict and structured political hierarchy. I think it would be worthwhile to look at hierarchies of individual Sith incarnations rather than this one here

    You're wrong on a lot of this...
    Ventress was never technically a sith or an apprentice. She was a nightsister assassin trained in lightsaber combat. Duku never took her as an apprentice and never intended to. Maul, while he was technically Sidious's apprentice Sidious never intended for him to succeed him as the dark lord so he was only really trained in combat not sith philosophy and teachings so i would put him in the same category as Ventress. Sith wasn't a rank it was essentially a title indicating you where a member of the sith order, in much the same way a jedi youngling is a jedi.
    (Name of religious order) then (rank within order) i.e.
    Jedi youngling
    Sith acolyte
    Jedi/Sith apprentice
    Jedi knight
    Sith lord
    Ect.

    The thing about sith ranks... Sith ranks basically became all but meaningless. Bane's sith really only came in two ranks, master and apprentice. Sith ranks only held any meaning prior to the rule of two.

    Most of what u sayed it tru, but for 1 point. Sidious--->Drath Plages was the last sith, that onered "the rule of 2" and the old way of doing things, and i think this is a big reason way Sidious's empire was as bad and weak, Sidious didten care about others, he gave away titels like it was candy, but he never chanced a titel after it was given. Ventres, Duku, Moal, Vader even himself( i dont recal Sidious calling him self emperror) some wher given big titels like darth, rigth from the start like Vader and Moal, but people like Ventres wher only given the lowest rank and was never even considered to becom a "sith", a lord or a darth, and this is my problem with Sidious, what he dos make no sens, hes plans, hes rule, non of the new star wars makes sens cus the writers make up new plots and sceams, but how many times can u chance the filler of a story before u loos the storyline completly?( just look at what was done to hyperspace, lightsabers, force traning time, and the ranking of Sith and jedi, except for Anaikin do eny jedi get promoted ever?)

    • @thiestemberg
      @thiestemberg 2 года назад

      He just had a noble background thats why he was called a ‘Count’ not really related to him being a Sith. He also had a different (sith) title: Darth Tyranus

    • @shaydowsith348
      @shaydowsith348 2 года назад

      Count was his title because he is royalty. Its like the Queen of England is titular head of the Church of England. One is a royal title (Queen), the other (head of the Church, defender of the faith, etc.) is a religious title. You can have one without the other - i.e. the Pope is a religious title, he is not Emperor of Rome or King of Italy.

    • @toxicelamain2494
      @toxicelamain2494 2 года назад

      Because darth is a title that is more of a name. Once a lord gets strong enough to be promotef to dark lord of the sith (darth) they get it along with a new unique last name. Lord is a more like a nobility title that both darths and non darths can be refered to, and you ise it like you say doctor to a doctor.
      But SW lore is broken so there is no concrete answer. It’s just the most logical explanation I found.

    Uh.....Sidious was Emperor because he was literally Emperor of the galaxy. Are you sure that's a Sith title?? Also I thought there was a rank below Sith apprentice. Because they had the Inquisitors, which weren't taught anything on the Sith and given very basic fighting, though they had force powers and obeyed the power of the dark side. Would this not be the lowest rank and only make it to Sith apprentice when decided worthy of it?

      Inquisitors were the most powerful sith within the old repuplic. They were pretty much the puppet masters and governing figures of all the sith order. But imperial inguisitors 1000yrs later weren’t even part of the order, so you can’t call them sith even if they were trained by Vader.

    • @alexmarenco2399
      @alexmarenco2399 2 года назад +1

      He essentially dictated that himself. Grand Master is not so much of a rank but rather a title given to a Jedi Master that would be the head of the Jedi Order (there also had other titles such as Battlemaster who was Cin Drallig and Master of the Order who was Mace Windu, but they were al Jedi Knight doing specific roles). He was told by Yoda that he had to confront Vader to become a Jedi (that is becoming a Knight as Padawans were not referred to as 'Jedi'), he does defeat Vader and essentially recognizes himselfs a Jedi Knight even though Yoda already passed. As years passed, he grew strong with the force to the point that he could very well be considered a Master. And since he founded and ran the new Jedi Order then he would have been the Grand Master of the institution as he would be the one in charge.
