  • HAKU, situated within the charming Strait Quay Penang, has quickly gained popularity as a brand-new establishment under the renowned Kiyosaki Group. As an avid food enthusiast, I recently had the opportunity to experience the culinary wonders of this impressive Japanese restaurant, and I must say, I was not disappointed.
From the moment I stepped into HAKU, I was captivated by its cozy ambiance, adorned with minimalistic yet spacious and exclusive decor. The warm and inviting atmosphere immediately set the tone for an enjoyable dining experience.
One of the highlights of HAKU is undoubtedly its extensive menu, which beautifully blends traditional and modern Japanese dishes. Each dish is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to freshness, as all the ingredients are carefully air-flown from their original sources, ensuring an authentic and delightful taste.
The culinary genius behind these delectable offerings is none other than the in-house Head Chef, Kent Chew. With more than two decades dedicated to perfecting his craft, Chef Kent Chew's passion and skill shine through in every dish he serves. From classic favorites to innovative creations, each plate is a masterpiece that leaves diners craving for more.
Beyond its culinary prowess, HAKU prides itself on being a pork-free establishment catering to diverse patrons. This thoughtful gesture adds to the restaurant's appeal, making it an inclusive and welcoming destination for all food enthusiasts.
The dishes that I have tasted in the video are as below:
Otsukuri Platter (assorted premium raw fish combination)
Maguro No Anchovy (bluefin tuna, anchovy and caviar)
Urokoyaki (Pan-seared grouper with ginger and spring onion)
Engawa Temaki (Hand roll with flatfish's tailfin muscle, caviar, rice and salmon roe)
Haku Chawan Mushi (Japanese egg custard topped with foie grass, sea urchin, caviar and Chef's signature sauce)
A5 Wagyu (Grilled top graded Japanese Wagyu beef, served with potato & asparagus)
Anchovy Sofrito Pasta (Pasta with Chili flakes, anchovy, garlic, olive and brocoli)
Mizu Mochi (Raindrop cake served with brown sugar syrup & soy bean powder)
In conclusion, HAKU is a must-visit for anyone seeking a fusion of tradition and modernity in their Japanese culinary adventure. With its remarkable dishes, expert chef, and inviting atmosphere, HAKU has secured its place as a top dining destination in Penang. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or someone new to Japanese cuisine, HAKU is sure to leave a lasting impression on your taste buds and heart.
