      @@anhthiensaigon For a quarter century, I've lived in Canada's most populated area, the Greater Golden Horseshoe, which includes Toronto (NA's 4th largest city behind LA, NYC, and Mexico City) alongside neighbouring communities. The change has been immense: cities engulfing other cities; recent farmland becoming sites of skyscrapers. Given how many East Asian cities are already much larger than anything in North America, I'd surely find that overwhelming. Definitely a worthwhile travel experience though!

    I am Japanese living in Tokyo.
    The huge population and well-developed urban structure always amaze me.
    Despite the overcrowding, there are no slums or air pollution and it's clean everywhere.
    I think the Japanese culture of discipline and respect for each other makes it possible to maintain such a large city.

      The same could be said for Tokyo. In this video, they are using population based on metropolitan areas, not city proper(the area within the city limits). Metropolitan areas include the city itself and its surrounding populated areas, which are usually suburbs or smaller cities.

    • @myerswin856
      @myerswin856 6 лет назад +67

      Tokyo is technically not even a city, IE no "City of Tokyo" exists, but instead 23 municipalities. In fact the biggest City in Japan is actually overlooked due to it being essentially a 'suburb of Tokyo' in Yokohama. Though that does bring up a serious question about this list; 'Tokyo' gets it's "suburbs" counted but other areas like Jakarta are not even on this list.

    • @VinniePaul91
      @VinniePaul91 6 лет назад +14

      In Indonesia more people already live in cities compared to for example Nigeria, Pakistan and India, so less people migrate to cities. Especially on Java already such a large portion of the population lives in the city, that there's relatively not much people who can move to the city.
      In most african countries and India less than 30% of people live in cities, while in Europe, US and Japan, that figure is around 80%, in asia pacific it's around 50-60%. Most city growth comes from migration from rural areas, not from birth rate (as birth rate in cities is FAR lower then in rural areas). So countries with lowest share of people living in cities will have faster growing cities, even though average birth rate might not suggest that.
      In almost every large city in the world population growth is solely due to migration, birth rate being lower than 2 per family.

    On that trip i did encounter:
    1x Biker,
    2x people walking,
    1x Horserider and
    1x Child with a sleed.
    Thats all.
    Sometimes i do this walk and see not a single Soul.
