    Nice. You need a bow mount brace for your trolling motor. It 100% stops the banging of your bow mount. They're awesome.

    What's the real world draft on the 248? Just wondering if it is as deep as Sea Pro says, or if they are just being conservative.

      On plane it’s probably 5-6 inches. Drifting ,it’s around a foot. It says 15”, but when I’m swimming it looks a lot less than 15”.

    Hey Mike, where did you get those multi rod holders on the port and starboard side-mid ship ? Most on the market tend to look so dull. Those look fantastic.

      +Heisenberg914 _ THANKS! They are the best rodholders you can get. They are Stainless and not dull aluminum that gets pitted and corroded. CeSmith makes them. They have two grades, these are the more expensive ones, but even the cheaper ones are made with same steel. The rails they are on are made by Austin Sartin. I love them because I can move them around the boat, they drop into the rail flush mounts. I also take them out while throwing a cast net. Austin's number is (336) 687-0519. Mention me and he will hook you up! Thanks for the comment!

    How was the ride in the chop? I'm in the market for a bay boat. I saw the 248 at a boat show and liked it. I really wish I would have taken it for a demo that day. Is a dry ride?

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS

      3o5richierich it's insanely dry. That super sharp entry point and flare make it the driest bay boat you can find. One dealer told me they do trial in rough conditions with customers where the dealer sits on the front deck and let's the customer drive and try to get him wet. He's said guys are amazed that they can't get him wet. Now, in high winds, we all know the spray might get you a bit once in a while, but that deck stays perfectly dry on days we probably shouldn't be out in. 😉. I ran a 21' Sea Pro for 12 years. Out of Oregon Inlet in December. That boat could handle way more than I could. 😊. You might like this short video I did. ruclips.net/video/C1Dn-vV2PXM/видео.html

    What is the speed with the 250? I am considering the 248 but concerned it will be underpowered when loaded down unless I get a 300. Specially is I have both baitwells loaded.

      It actually does very well with the 250. I don’t think anyone could overload a boat more than me 😁. We had 8 grown men, two full Wells, two full coolers, full fuel tank and a small dog on one trip on Long Island. We still screamed all over at well over 40 mph. Fuel eco wasn’t the best with a 17 p prop, but in 2 years I NEVER felt under-powered. The new boat will have the 350, and I always recommend going as close to the hp max as you can, but you will never feel slow with a Suzuki 250. I was very pleased and honestly never gave it a second thought. Top speed with 2 people lightly loaded was 50 mph in saltwater. 47 in fresh, but I was NEVER unable to break 40mph even when overloaded in fresh or salt. The low deadrise of the bay boat makes it glide across the top of the waves very easily, unlike a deep V. I know some guys that went with a 200 on the 248.

      Looking at a 2020 248 with a 200. He tells me too speed is 35 unloaded. I think it’s a little under powered for me. Do you have experience with the 200

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  11 месяцев назад

      @schwartz4676 it’s not my first choice for power, but it’s fine for sport fishing. I had a 200 on the 228 and a 250 on a 248 and they both had power to spare. I still never run WOT anywhere. I ran a 22ft Sea Pro with a 150 for 12 HARDCORE years.

    What are those rod holders called up front

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  6 лет назад

      I had the rails made for me. I attached C.E. Smith adjustables. They are the highest quality rod holders you will find. You can use any type of rod holder that will fit.
      C.E. Smith makes a fantastic new aluminum rod holder that will work nicely, just can’t be adjusted to tilt left or right.
      These are what I use.
      store.cesmith.com/mobile/adjustable-clamp-on-rod-holder---316l-stainless-fits-1-pipe-p121.aspx
      I have a buddy making the rails for anyone that wants them. I don’t make a penny off of them, I just love the design and I want them to be available for anyone wanting them.
      I get MANY questions on where to get them as you can imagine 😉.
      Order the POP OUT RAILS directly from Joe Scruggs. He does epic work.
