PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LARGE MESS OF WIRES YOU SEE IS MY MESS. I HAD TO MOVE MY ENTIRE SIMRAD NETWORK OVER TO THIS BOAT IN VERY LIMITED TIME TEMPORARILY. IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY YOU WILL SEE ALL OF THE SIMRAD PROCESSORS AND BACKBONE ATTACHED TO A SINGLE WHITE BOARD TO MOVE FROM BOAT TO BOAT. THERE ARE NO SEA PRO ELECTRONICS ON THAT MESS OF A BOARD. THANKS !
Impressive sea trial there.. Sea Pro Boat looks awesome !! if it holds up to the "Old School Boys" it holds up to anyone !! Love those two bait wells too...
I was out there that day , saw you coming out of gk harbor. Video doesn't do the sea state justice . Really nasty, we got into some really tight solid 3 footers and some fours mixed in. Looks like that boat ate it up
Mike love the content man. I’ve never done much striper fishing but your content is awesome and watch all your videos. I’m in search for a new boat to fish inshore and take out on the lake but can still take chop if I wanna take it off shore. I’m on the fence right now, but I’ve been looking into these sea pros. What kind of speed did you get with this rig? I know you don’t have it any more. But I know you carried some weight and put it to the REAL test. Have a great day man. Keep on keepin on with those rock fish.
Thanks brother!!! I appreciate the comment!! All of the Sea Pro Bays are bad ass. They can handle way more than I can in the ocean. We used to run out of Oregon inlet in December and run 25 miles out up and back again. Thru and over MOUNTAINS BROTHER!! I would puke and crank. The 228 with 200 would hit 50mph with a 3 blade prop and 46 with the 4 blade. I think the pitch was 21 on the 3 and 19 on the 4. Great boat!
Man I appreciate the info. And I just want to point out how you not only commented back but how you did it so freakin fast. I like the cleaning and how to videos you’ve been putting out. Keep them coming brother! We’ll be here watching and dropping likes.
Mike, when you had the 228 ever miss not having real lockable rod lockers ? 6' lockers are pointless. The aft rod holders you installed I'm assuming answers my question. And secondly, do you notice a huge difference in the 248's ability to handle even rougher seas? I don't need the extra size and cost from the 228 to the 248 unless it's a huge difference in the rough stuff
Randy H I never really use the rod lockers in the 228 or the 248 to be honest. This was the very first 228 out the door. They now take a 7’ rod and the 248 takes an 8’. They are both lockable. The 228 does very well in snotty conditions, I had a 2100 since 2003 and would fish out of Oregon inlet every December. Sometimes running as far as 25 miles up or down the coast. They can handle WAY more than I can I can tell you that. With that being said, the 248 is a totally different animal. It is a full-on Beast. If you plan on fishing the ocean more than the bay, I would definitely consider the 248. The extra width and freeboard make it more of a Bay/Deep V hybrid in my opinion. Fishes very heavy beefy. You will be pleased whichever way you go! Thanks for the comment brother. Great Questions!
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Thanks for answering! Bay boats and CC are starting to make a small showing up north here on the great lakes. I do a lot of salmon, trout, walleye and bass fishing. Lake Michigan is an entirely different water than the ocean. It's dangerously nasty at times. I've been contemplating trading into a CC for the storage, ride and fishability. Ever since watching your videos about the entry angle and stern design, Sea Pro has my attention. Taking a sea trial in Wisconsin is really not an option so educated feedback is priceless.
Hey Mike. About to purchase a used 2018 228. Question I have is about the Suzuki motor. It has 128 hours on it. Any issues you see with them? Always been a Yamaha guy so just curious. Looks to be a great boat with plenty of room for 4 people to fish
I had a Yamaha for many years as well and never had issues. It’s the same with the Suzuki. I had a few with Sea Pro and they all have been incredible. Buy it!! You will be happy 😊
Oh yeah!! I love all of the Sea Pros brother. I had a 2004 21’ Sea Pro bay boat that we ran out of Oregon inlet every winter in. We would run 25 miles up out and back down the beach in January. And that was in the BAY hull. Sea Pro makes hard core fishing machines brother. Choose your days wisely. Follow the weather closely. Great boats!!
Do it!! You’ll love this boat👍👍. The stability in a Sea Pro bay is unlike any bay boat you’ll ever be in. All of us big bellies run to one side and the boat just sits. With the super sharp entry point and flair you don’t really sacrifice much comfort at all in trade. They are very unique hulls. I’ve been in one since 2003.👍
I don’t know if I remember exactly. I only had that boat for a year before they moved me up to the 248. I wanna say 60 with a 3 blade. I had a 21’ 8 Sea Pro with a 150 for years that did over 50. The economy was roughly 3 mpg. A little over and under depending on load.
@Brasii2805 ✔️ I had an 04 Sea Pro bay 21’ with a 150 that did 45 and it was a bit wider than the 2016 22’ with the 200. It did around 52ish with a 4 blade and around 60 with a bigger 3 blade with just me in the boat.
connor burke they are great. A friend of mine makes them. His Number is (336) 687-0519. NC Marine Fabrication. Tell him I sent you. He'll know what you need. They are very affordable too.
Absolutely, we used to take my old Sea Pro 21’ bay boat thru Oregon inlet every winter and run many miles up and down the coast Striper fishing. They are way better now. Really great boats.
flawoodsy actually that mess is mine. I have to transfer all of my Simrad gear from this boat to the bigger boat so it's all attached to a board on the right side inside the console temporarily . Most of the wires are only strapped up and out of the way, but not permanently. Believe me, it would never leave the plant like that!😉.
batteries in the bow below the waterline??? When you pushed her into those waves those batteries were for sure soaked in saltwater, poor design imo and a pathfinder wannabe
Keys Customs Both battery Lazzerets are completely sealed off from the bilge and have water tight deck lids. No way water is getting in, and hasn’t gotten in in 4 years.

That’s a good video for those of us who are in the market for a boat and want to see what it will do in those situations. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks brother. Glad you dig it 👍😁
Love the new boat, good luck with it, looking forward to some nice videos
Thanks! I appreciate that. Fishing videos are on the way!
Impressive sea trial there.. Sea Pro Boat looks awesome !! if it holds up to the "Old School Boys" it holds up to anyone !! Love those two bait wells too...
KIDCOCHIESE!!!!!
I just ordered my 2017 228 bay! Can't wait to get on the water! Great video!
+Chris Spivey that's great brother!! You're gonna love it!
Dealer called and mine is in... Just gotta outfit it! I'm itching to get it now!!
Chris Spivey awesome!!!
Hey man.. I picked up the new 228 bay... It's a Cadillac!! Love it!
Chris Spivey NICE!!!!!
Thanks for the post. I'm between 2 brands and after this video I'm sold and signing
William Walker thanks for taking the time to post this! I really appreciate hearing that. You will be VERY pleased with this boat!

Thanks Scott, and you are correct, the video never does show how nasty it really was. I agree on all counts.

Randy H Very interesting. I think you would be thrilled to death with the 248 up there on that big nasty.

very , very impressive!
Do u recommend the 219 Sea Pro Deep V for some offshore fishing
Oh yeah!! I love all of the Sea Pros brother. I had a 2004 21’ Sea Pro bay boat that we ran out of Oregon inlet every winter in. We would run 25 miles up out and back down the beach in January. what's the price range on your new setup? my buddy is buying your old boat and did the new come with tabs on it
It came with tabs but it's an option. As this boat sits without the fish finders and trolling motor it runs around $40k boat motor trailer.
Sick ride seems pretty dry. I’m about to sell my key west and pick up a 228

What’s the top end speed and fuel numbers with the 200 on it

mike- Where did you get those tree rod holders with the gimbal mount? Been looking for those for a long time now. Thanks in advance.

where did you get the thee pole rocket launchers?
Email Austin at NCMarinefab@gmail.com tell him you want the PoP-out rod rail that team Old School uses. He will hook you up!
Are all Sea Pro good for ocean fishing ? Thanks.
Absolutely, we used to take my old Sea Pro 21’ bay boat thru Oregon inlet every winter and run many miles up and down the coast Striper fishing. They are way better now. Really great boats.
I like the new Sea Pros, lots of good ideas but that wiring under the console is a mess

Mike Smedley thanks for the reply I look forward to seeing one in person
I’ll stick with my 99 Bay Champ
John Ewen 👍
You should have bought an Everglades boat. You yankees gotta learn the best built boats in the world come from Florida😀
They are nice boats. I’m only half yankee though. I’ve lived in NC longer than in NJ. 😁
