So I tried out this recipe today, after looking through too many and settled on trying this. I tell you what, the donuts are really, really light, airy, crispy on the outside! Could not believed it! I use a smaller cutter so I got 8 pieces. There are many comments on the type of flour, TBH, I could not figure it out too. Many other recipes call for bread flour, but I see the author's reply on one thread that she said "soft wheat flour", so I used cake flour for this. the dough is extremely wet, took some effort to handle but still workable. And as per the video instruction, I only did one proof, that is after shaping, overall, this recipe works and I will use it again for my future donut recipe! Love the lightness.:) Thank you so much for sharing!

I tried this recipe and it's almost perfect. I just have a small problem. My donuts seems to be very oily from the inside. Is it because of the shortening or my frying? Do you have any advice?
Hi, when adding the shortening, be sure to incorporate properly. This could be due to temperature when frying. What you want to do is, fry a small piece, once cooked, then begin frying the donuts, as doing so will get the oil to the right temperature. Make sure your donuts are not too thick when cutting them. They cook very fast, so, don't have the oil too low, doing so, will make them oily
@@CulturedCuisine Thank you. I'll try your advice. But honestly, this recipe is almost the real thing. You know what I mean. Krispy Kreme. :) God bless to you and your channel.
I can’t seem to find wheat flour. I can find whole wheat flour. Have you ever tried cake flour? It’s less glutinous than all purpose flour. Let me know.
Baby baby girl all purpose, bread, cake, pastries flour, semolina and of course whole wheat flour, everything I listed and more are all kind of wheat flour, they are all made from the wheat kernel, the way it's processed is what determine which category they fall under. for Donuts you going to need a lighter flour with some gluten in it. if you can find pastry flour that will be your best shot, if not I would use regular all-purpose bleached and enriched which can easily be found in all stores, just read the label and to achieve the lightness substitute small portion with cornstarch for example if you are following her recipe to the T, it says 210 grams flour which is about 1 and 3/4 cup after you measure that, take 2 tbsp out, and substitute it with the same amount of cornstarch. OK good luck
The problem is: how much time it keeps fresh and soft? Krispy still fresh and soft for 3-4 days….when I do at home, in the next day they already old and dry….
Well, you are right, when u get it right, on the 3rd day, they are still the same. You have to get the icing part right as well, it will help alot. It's not easy to get it right, I'm not gonna lie, and I haven't made them in a while, but, it's really worth the effort, considering the price have gone even more up for krispy Kreme Donuts
I make them with a tangzhong dough. It is wonderfully soft and keeps for longer. (If you've never heard of tangzhong, there are tons of recipes on the internet. It's like a roux you add in to your dough.)
I've read all of the comments because I am a smart dog with nothing better to chew on. The biggest issue is that it is not clear what flour is to be used.
You can use vital wheat gluten in AP flour to approximate bread flour. Search online for quantities, because I don't remember. It keeps you from having to keep two kinds of flour in the house.
Wheat flour; what kind as what I’ve seen is pretty heavy and doesn’t look like what you were using. I’d love to try these; how do you think they would fare in an air fryer? If I might make one suggestion, take off all your finger/wrist jewelry before your videos. Just something about having hands in a dough with rings and bracelets in contact with the dough was a bit distracting.
The recipe is somewhat incorrect ... when they say use wheat flower, they are actually meaning use bread flour, not all purpose flour, not cake flour, and not whole wheat flour. Use bread flour to give you the correct texture for donut. Use bread flour and you will be happy with your donuts.

Wondering if I can keep the dough to fry next day?
No, you can't
You can but it will have changed some.
for the vegetable shorntning could it be any company or it has to be that exact one?
Any, as long as its shortening
@@cristianotumamac8490 Thank you. It takes couple of times, but it's worth it. I honestly don't buy Krispy kreme anymore, I just make these.
Hi! Did you improve your donuts to being less oily? If so, can you tell me how? I will appreciate it, thanks!
@@zetariendo3662 make sure the fry temp is good and drain them...
Thank you so much sweetheart cuz I love me some Krispy Kreme
What type of milk did you use: full-fat or semi-skimmed?
Full fat
Looks pretty good
The problem is: how much time it keeps fresh and soft?
Hello is this the same flour used for pizza dough??? Italian 00 flour???
Yes. You could use pizza wheat flour also.
@@firstnationsindian8062 thanks
Did you only poof your dough once? And it is when you finished cutting them? Thank u
Approximately, how many eggs did you use? Thanks

The idiot put 80 grams. LOL
@@allierod1366 I just took out two eggs, put them in a bowl, and weighed them. LOL. Maybe if you were using egg substitute you could use grams? :)
1 Large egg, white and yolk, is 50g. So this was about 2 small eggs.
unique recipe 😋😋😋😋
I've read all of the comments because I am a smart dog with nothing better to chew on.
The biggest issue is that it is not clear what flour is to be used.

Italian pizza flour better known as 00
The correct flour to use is bread flour, it will give you the correct texture.
what do u suggest i'd use instead of wheat flour?
In description section😊
Hello
How long i can store the baked n unbaked doughnut?
Did you just add just the egg yolk? Or did you also include the egg white???
She added both
even though it said NOT to use all purpose flour is it ok to use it? its the only flour we got here and we got a ton of it
I don’t really understand. All purpose flour is wheat flour.
Not sure if she means cake flour
All purpose flour is much heavier to get the perfect light texture. Try looking on Amazon for the caputo brand flour, it's the best to use
You can use vital wheat gluten in AP flour to approximate bread flour. Search online for quantities, because I don't remember. It keeps you from having to keep two kinds of flour in the house.
Custard 🍮 doughnut 🍩 😋 are so so sweet 😋
Wheat flour; what kind as what I’ve seen is pretty heavy and doesn’t look like what you were using. I’d love to try these; how do you think they would fare in an air fryer? If I might make one suggestion, take off all your finger/wrist jewelry before your videos. Just something about having hands in a dough with rings and bracelets in contact with the dough was a bit distracting.
When the measurements for the yeast is what I have active dry yeast and it’s only 7g what’s another measurement for 10g please
Hello! How many donuts can I get with this recipe?
Hi @Cultured Cuisine may I ask how long did you sit the dough before frying?
No need to knead it and rest the kneaded dough?
Definitely knead them. And be sure to use bread flour to get the correct texture.
How many doughnuts does this batter make
Hi what kind of milk did u use? Please reply asap i just need it for my project in our class thanks!
You can use any milk of your choice but whole milk of cow recommended
Hi, can I use instant yeast instead of active dry yeast? If so, when do I add instant yeast?
Thank you
yes
Did anybody actually try this? I am skeptical of using wheat instead, honest feedback someone?
they didn't say whole wheat, just wheat which is just regular old white flour for baking cakes cookies & in this case donuts 🍩 😋
The recipe is somewhat incorrect ... when they say use wheat flower, they are actually meaning use bread flour, not all purpose flour, not cake flour, and not whole wheat flour. Use bread flour to give you the correct texture for donut. Use bread flour and you will be happy with your donuts.
