    SGU was my favourite SG show. This is such an underrated jewel. I am still hoping it might return one day.

      I hope too but at one condition: the main characters like Rush, Col' Young, Eli, Tamara, Greer and others have to be in the party too, otherwise there no point to make a final season, i dont want a comeback of SGU like Heroes did: it was a massive fail.
      Thanks for the comment dude ^^

      I just recently re watched SGU. I realized how ungrateful I was with the series when it was on air. But when I re-watched it I felt sad at the end. I really wished they would pick it back up again and make a proper ending for the series. Instead They did this shitty thing for the ending like, oh it's up for you to decide what happens to Eli after everyone goes into stasis. It makes me sad. I've heard there have been plenty of petitions to pick this series back up again. I just wish one of them would bring this Stargate universe back and give it the good ending it deserves.

      And the very start of it was the best start of a sci-fi show EVER. It's when Eli was unlocking a code in a game and then he won an abduction to the real spaceship))

    My mom is the most important person in my life. She's retired and semi-disabled and I have her living with me, so I can help her when she needs it. If I were in Eli's position, they would have to agree to bring her with me, or it's a no-go. She would totally be down with it, lol. She loves all things space-related.

    A 1-off tv movie to finish the story off would be good. It should be written in to all tv show contracts that if they get cancelled, they have to at least do one extended episode to complete the story, if need be. My name is Earl is crying out for an ending ffs.

    never disliked so many characters in a single show as SGU, hated Chloe, Eli, Young, and really hated Greer ! i'm a huge SG1 and SGA fan and have all their seasons on dvd along with the original Stargate, Stargate Continuum, and Stargate Ark of Truth.

    • @GogaPartizan
      @GogaPartizan 5 лет назад +3

      Because SGU was not intended to give you all the standart type of characters. Even Rush and Young are not standart. You weren't neutral to those characters, because they are natural. They have their own personalities. That's why the show watchers liked and disliked different characters. Someone liked them all, someone disliked them all, but didn't remain neutral. It's ok that in real life you dislike some people, right?) But that's not a reason to abandon our show)

    • @tungstenkid2271

      SGU was unlike most other shows because the two main "heroes" (Rush and Young) hated each others guts, and it was interesting to see their relationship......SPOILER ALERT-in one episode Rush tried to frame Young for murder, and in another episode Young beat the krap out of Rush and stranded him on a hostile planet.....They don't make heroes like that any more..;)

    “Pivotal to the Success of the Mission” and they make him an Other Ranks, rather than an Officer.
    I had a far less import job to do in Real Life and they Offered Me a Captaincy in the Military.

    “Most Important Man on the Mission” and they Enlisted him and made him a Senior Airman. By way of comparison, when the Australian Army Wanted My Services, they offered Me a Commission at the Rank of Captain and I was far from being an Important Man. Senior Airman, I’d have walked away. Oh wait, I walked away from Commissioned Captain offering too.

    I could have liked this show, but the acting or writing (sometimes both) was just not good. The Doctor Rush character was a massive ass, as was the Col. Young character. Many of the other characters were quite good. Then they got into the drone weapons chasing them across the galaxy. I hate the unstoppable antagonist storyline. Ditch that, and have the human colony survive with most of the crew staying there and Rush flying off on Destiny would have been a better ending.

    • @tungstenkid2271
      @tungstenkid2271 5 лет назад

      Series 1 was okay, but series 2 became a little deja-vuish and- dare I say it- a little bit boring, so no wonder viewing figures tailed off....Perhaps if more episodes had featured gating down to explore exciting new planets, viewers interest might have been held.

    SGU was an attempt to enlarge the SG audience numbers so the network would stop bugging them about cancelling the shows .. They thought what if we crossed Stargate with Battlestar Galactica we can get both fan bases to watch SGU .. Sorry to report the SG fans saw thru that and didn't care for the blend .. Too much soap opera .. They tried to get some action with the drone episodes but it didn't work .. Nor did the blue creatures

    • @jaffarebellion292

      I'd say the problem wasn't the lack of action. Plenty of Stargate's best episodes had little to no action. The problem in my eyes is threefold: first, they overpacked the series with cliche interpersonal relationship drama that distracted from the core mystery of the ship and the ongoing struggle to survive (I swear the whole first season was a race to the words "I'm pregnant"). No effort was made, with the exception of Eli, to make you like the characters and root for them before involving the audience in their personal lives. SG1 and Atlantis waited before injecting relationship drama into the fold, and it worked to the benefit of both shows. SGU had no such restraint.
      Second, the early use of the communication stones comes off as needlessly creepy, and is what put me off from the show the first time. It should be a minor thing, but the rapeyness of the crew's use of the stones, Especially Young, Wray, and later Rush (though Eli at least called him out for it), was extraordinarily uncomfortable.
      Third, the series was poorly paced, showcasing a lack of experience on the writers' part in writing a fully serialized show. They'd come from writing episodic TV and it showed. Despite being really good at episodic shows, it took them way too long to find their footing with the new format. There's so much filler in the first season that you could probably condense the whole show down to one season if you took out the filler and cut the cast in half.
      Out of all three Stargate shows, SGU had the most potential, but it also failed the hardest to live up to that potential.

  • @xadam2dudex
    @xadam2dudex 6 лет назад +11

    The reason SGU failed is due to how much they tried to turn SG1 into Battlestar Galactica which was a soap opera style show whereas SG1 / SGA were mission based adventures with people you cared about
