Thanks! I was just about to throw out my CX455. As a last resort, I decided to check into getting a new one, which you can't, but I saw a bunch of reconditioned units. Decided to see what goes wrong with these units and came across your video. Sure enough it was the belts. I spent 10.50 on Amazon for 3 belts, downloaded the service manual pdf. I managed to figure out how to remove the carousel to replace the bottom belt. The other two belts had melted, so I had to take the back off and use some cleaner to get the sticky rubber out of the pulleys. What a mess. Changed out belts and works fine...
Thanks for a nice video. Was about to throw-out my CX-400 (that I bought new when it came out in 1990s). Opened up the unit and, sure enough, one band was off the spools and the two bands were brittle. Ordered replacements! Thank you for your help!
I have a cdp-cx355. Replaced all three belts which were all bad. When turned on you can here it cycling 3-4x & still no carousel rotation. Please help...any suggestions. The AMS & disc selector knobs still work to display the CD title & track numbers. the door can still open and close, but only when its cycling
I have a CDP M555ES 400 disc changer that operates perfectly for 20 to 40 minutes but then it gets stuck when it attempts to change to the next disc. On the display it keeps scrolling through the disc numbers, but the carousel is not turning. This continues until I turn the unit off. I can turn it back on and it will operate perfectly for 15 to 30 minutes when it again gets stuck. Do you have a solution for this?
Open it and take s look at the mechanism. I found bits and pieces that slipped out of their supposed position. Re-affixed and it worked. Check plugs and cables and that belts work properly.
I'm going to change the belt today and if that works I will come back and reply on the comment if it doesn't the comment will be here looking for help thanks
Our CD’s will skip when CD player starts up, after about an hour, it stops skipping, but there are a few CD’s that will skip. I have used a CD cleaner to clean the music CD’s. I have also purchased and will periodically run a CD lens cleanerThe CD player is turned off and on using the remote. The music CD’s work great on my car CD player, so it is not the music CD’s Any ideas why CD’s skip. And how can I clean the lens?
It might not be the lens, I had a similar issue and I cleaned the CD sleigh gears with Molycote grease. The old white grease had dried up, simply clean the old grease off with some alcohol and a cotton bud then apply the molycote and work it in the gears, molykote grease can be bought off Ebay for a few pounds. If cleaning the lens doesn't work this method is worth a try and worked for me.

Nice! Thanks for watching
I did the same thing with my 333 it worked great now
When shipping these do you find the carousel needs to be held in place during shipment? Or do you just bubblewrap the unit, in a strong box etc?
I have not had too. I make sure it is tight inside the box.
Hi on the Sony 300 cd player how does it work with the keyboard ⌨️ Thank you
Confused? Not sure what you mean.

Had the same … first I discovered that a splint slipped out of its usual position, then I forgot to replug one cable and it worked perfectly fine.

big word for you basically well you put the cd in and it started on song 2 not one 1 so it may need a better belt or lens cleaning still
That one sold long ago. Don’t remember it having any issues. Thanks for watching.
Hey, picked up the 300 cd model and the door doesn’t open or close, is that a belt issue as well?
Yes that would be a belt issue also. Check for it.
I have a cx455 and the carousel door keeps opening and closing on its own so it won't play any ideas you think this is electronic?
I'm going to change the belt today and if that works I will come back and reply on the comment if it doesn't the comment will be here looking for help thanks
@@superjeffstanton so it did not work

Its really simple … I never opened any electric device and thanks to the clip I repaired multiple of those units!
Why do people need to hold 300 cds? I would get so confused lol
They make a 400 unit one too. LOL
