- The Dollar Tree Rib Eye steak, often found in discount stores, is a budget-friendly option for consumers seeking an affordable protein source. However, it's essential to manage expectations due to the significantly lower price point. While it bears the name "Rib Eye," a renowned and flavorful cut, the quality may not match up to traditional butcher offerings.
The Dollar Tree Rib Eye steak tends to be thinner, with potential variations in marbling and tenderness. It's crucial to approach these steaks with a realistic perspective, understanding that they might not deliver the same level of taste and tenderness as higher-priced cuts. They can still serve as a quick and economical option for simple meals, especially when paired with marinades or seasonings to enhance flavor and mitigate potential toughness.
In essence, the Dollar Tree Rib Eye steak can be a convenient choice for those on a tight budget, but for an authentic and premium Rib Eye experience, investing in higher-grade cuts from reputable butchers or grocery stores is recommended.
Directions:
Upon taking the steak out of the packaging, pat it dry as much as possible. Put the steak on a cooling rack if possible and place in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to dry out some more. Pull out of the refrigerator and pat dry again. DO NOT add additional salt to the steak, however, add any other type of non-salt seasoning. ( the steak has been in a salty marinade ) Place the steak on a griddle or pan that is heated to Medium High. Sear on each side for no longer than 30 seconds before flipping. Total cook time will be about 1 1/2 minutes to 2 minutes total cooking time. Consider basting with butter during the searing. Take off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. your steak is now ready to serve.
This steak is rather thin for a main course, but would be perfect on a hoagy bun as a steak sandwich.

people keep comparing these to a cut you get at the bigger markets or a butcher your not…..it’s a ribeye none the less…its the tail end of what’s left after they get the cuts of ribeye that go to the bigger stores where you find your 90z,120z.ect….this is only a 3-4oz steak maybe…it’s like comparing an breakfast cut pork chop to an Iowa chop…I’m not fond of the brine they have in the package…as I believe it effects the coloring but for stuff like cheesesteaks, steakrolls,or anything where you need a thin cut instead of pounding it out they are already done
You've got great insight into what these steaks are. Your right, they don't really compare to the supermarket steaks, but for what they are, they're not bad. I would definitely use them for a steak sandwich or a breakfast steak. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
They're on sale right now at my Dollar Tree. 25¢ each! They're in the $3 section but have a 25¢ sticker on them.
I'm going to stock up now...
They should work great for steak sandwiches or breakfast steaks.
Worst decision of your life... See you in the ICU!
I would buy almost every one of them if Nothing else they can be fed to the dog. I will leave a couple for another customer I think! but at that price I would get 100 of them with no problem if they're over five ounces how could you go wrong? I have been a carnivore for 5 months. it's the only way to go, no vegetables no fruits no nuts no problems. OH ! And no seed oils. Use Tallow clarified butter ghee. eagle
I could maybe believe$1.25 but not no quarter you won't get there in time to buy them for that price Perfect dog food if nothing else at $0.25 eagle
Looks like they made them thicker compared to the ones back in the day for $1
The $1 steaks in the beginning werent good but the $3 5.5 oz steaks are much better quality. I just made 4 of them & they're actually not bad at all. Just season them up & throw them in the oven. Taste pretty good. Definitely get them again.
Your right. If cooked right, they're not bad. I would especially consider using them for a steak sandwich.
I had no idea that Dollar Tree sold those. I'll have to try it on my grill 😊
@@BrazilLover148 yeah they're in the $3 section in the freezer. They're better quality than those $1 steaks they had. I tried cooking them in both the over & skillet. Oven is good but skillet is much better.
@@BrazilLover148 They are worth a try, especially for something like a steak sandwich. But be careful on the grill, they cook up fast.
For just me, the 5oz is the right size. And taste is good. I see your comment was 7 months ago from my comment. In that time, they went up to 4$ each. It's still not a bad price being on a fixed income. And cook up nicely in the air fryer. Just add the seasonings. 4/22/24 😊
Sir! you need a cooking show on the food network!! you have the it factor
Wow...thanks for the compliment.
Unfortunately " cooking " shows are hard to find on food network. Competition cooking challenges have taken over
@@donaldjz I think you are awesome and I'm locked in on you channel
your home is lovely!!
Thank You. And thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Great video Ralph! Amazing what you can do with a little knowledge and ingenuity. My wife can make a garbage piece of steak melt in your mouth too. I still like a tomahawk, or prime rib though. 👍
I agree, there is a lot you can do to make a cheaper cut good, but the classic cuts are still the best. I hope all is well with you my friend.
From the dollar tree?
Walmart used to sell this same brand of steaks (Stampede) of 6 in a box for around $10. Only larger steaks. Can't remember if they were sirloins or rib eyes. That was pre COVID era before food really got so high.
I used to eat them all the time. My wife however said they tasted like shoe leather.
I put one of the dollar tree steaks in an air fryer and mixed it with some ramen noodles with beef seasoning.
I thought it was actually pretty good.
I personally think these steaks are a step above the hamburger meat that McDonald's uses. If you can stomach their hamburgers, then these steaks are not that bad.
I'd say the people who say these steaks taste awful are used to eating wagu or kobi beef or some high priced steak from Ruth Chris (Chris Ruth) steakhouse.
My only complaint was the steak shrank quite a bit after I cooked it.
Your right, for what it is, it's not bad. It's not a good substitute as a main entree, but in a sandwich or with eggs for breakfast it would be pretty good.
This steak comes from the most unhealthiest cows - remember that 💯
I love canned potatoes. I grew up on them. We got them from the local food bank as a kid and my whole family learned to love them.
I don't think I had ever knowingly had canned potatoes before this show, but I was trying to keep it all Dollar Tree products. With that said, I was actually surprised by how well they turned out.
I was wondering if they indicated the source country - USA or outside the country? I'll try finding a Dollar Tree nearby that has a frozen section. Thanks!
That's a good question. Now I have to go by a Dollar Tree to find out.
I looked for country of origin on the package but couldn't find it.
i am not real picky about food so i would eat that too, thanks.
Thanks for commenting. Actually, I think this steak would work out great as a steak sandwich.
Excellent Video !
Thanks
First time here. Nice production.
Reminds me of the steak breakfast I'd get late nights at the Golden Gate in old Vegas back in the mid 80s.
Steak, 2 eggs, hash browns, coffee for about $3.
Not much flavor, steak sauce a must.
Thanks for the nice comments. This steak reminds me of the ones you get at Waffle House.
I've seen Emmy do the dollar store challenges, but she hardly seasons them and basically goes from package to cooktop. This is no wagyu. Im sure with a little sprucing up and flavorful sides, you can get a tasty cheap meal, just like you proved.
Thanks for watching and for the really nice comment. This steak really wouldn't be too bad as a breakfast steak with eggs.
Yes. I'm having out of town guests so I'm going to make steak and eggs.🥩
Sounds like a good use for this steak. I hope it works out well.
Not even cooked fully 😂
Dollar tree ribeye I don’t think soP
Thanks for the comment. I agree, I don't think I'll be going out of my way to buy them, but it really would work out great as a steak sandwich.
@@rjones3296 I wish it was a real thing here 😂
Me neither. Right up there with "Discount Roadside Dentistry".
The 5.5 oz steaks in the $3 section are a lot better than the ones they had for $1. I just had some & it turned out pretty good.
Don't knock it til you tried it!
Aside from being covered in cold under cooked mushrooms, you also drowned it in butter so you're not tasting the beef.
Everyone’s a critic
do you not chew your food or some shit?
You know the economy is crappy when the silent generation is going on RUclips to teach young people how to make the most of cheap food, save their bacon grease, and wash their aluminum foil…
so true
