Definitely not milk and bag first! But I know exactly what you mean about the noise that clutch must have been making, we had a cracked flex plate on an auto Evoque once and were convinced it was bottom end until the box came off, sounds exactly the same!
I remember the first time I made brew as well. You’ll get better at it, it just takes a bit of practice.
