    A few weeks ago I gleaned from several different videos that the arms basically moved down from the top. It felt totally different from my old move and I was striking the ball much better. There were little details I was missing though and I’ve been wandering around a bit. You addressed everything here. I think this is a foundational part of the swing that almost noone is talking about. Thank you!

    Hi Chris ,many thanks for sharing this info.I am an over the top golfer with right shoulder flying out (the old heave ho lol).I am now only watching golf tuition where feel comes first.
    This lesson made me realise that to get the right elbow where it should be, the grip has to be correct , and for me made me change the grip to a stronger position right hand a little more under the handle.Secondly on the backswing I now realise the right elbow has to stay where it is and go around the body not out and around.(it doesnt have to tuck right into the ribcage though).And thirdly if the right elbow does wonder from the body I feel balance is lost and I am falling a little right.Sorry its long winded but hopefully some good feedback for you from someone that has never got the right elbow in the correct position.( But Iwill have it correct from today onwards)I am now going to watch your next video on your ball striking series Best wishes

    Thanks for the belt loop thought. I finally have a way to efficiently use the hips, in sequence with the arms. I use the right (trailside) loop as a backswing trigger, followed by the left front loop to trigger my downswing. My swing and tempo thought is a very simple one...(LOOP IT ONE...LOOP IT 2.) Chris - I absolutely loved your comment about how uncomfortable and "impossible" this position will feel. That's exactly how it feels!! LOL. You obviously understand the amateur golfer. That being said, for the first time in 30-years, I'm seeing lag (no window) on video!! I still need to get in another 1000 reps - but I'll take the 1% at a time. Really good video.

      Swing change is soooooooooo uncomfortable. If it’s not, then there’s probably not change being made. • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  Год назад +1

      You can use some pull down from the hands and the arms in the downswing. Just make sure you’re still using your hips in the sequence though or you’ll lose efficiency and you’ll make impact a little chaotic to say the least.

  • @stevenwhiting8941
    @stevenwhiting8941 Год назад +1

    Good video, I tried it and it did help immediately, TY. But I noticed when you shifted your weight forward you slid your hips forward and then turned. Instead of just turning. This seems counter to other You Tube coaching. Is it just do or what works for each person to get the ball down range to the target?

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  Год назад

      There is a measured amount of horizontal force that takes place very early on in the downswing. The hips will shift a good amount as well as rotate in an efficient movement. You just don’t want the lead side outside of neutral joint alignment.

Instead of tucking my elbow into my side I started tucking it against the belt loop like you mentioned. • @MyGolfDNA

      If you're still seeing the window, there's a pretty good chance you have your right arm working way too early in the downward half. There is a new drill that was just released last week that may help you. Here it is: ruclips.net/video/eXHobEhpyaQ/видео.html

      That’s fricken awesome Ralph. Nice work. You can work this drill with the driver. Just widen the stance up, move the ball position up and make sure you are releasing the club. Driver is the one club want positive angle of attack. Taking a lot of lag into the hitting area can make it harder create the positive aoa you’d be looking for. Play around with it and see what sorts of results you get with it.

    The most important thing for me is no conscious movement of the hands and arms
    whatsoever no hit impulse...
    The feeling of hitting the ball with the right shoulder all the way to the follow through..
    It stops any early release which is very well explained in your video congratulations on a great video 😊

      The amount of elevation (width) people have in their golf swings is considered a variable. I tend to have less width in MY swing. Not sure how that plays a role in the sort of movement that I’m teaching here.

      The right arm will begin to straighten as the post up on the lead side begins to happen. The post up video on our channel will teach you that. I also discuss some of the timing of the release in video 2 of the ball striking series and will be going into BIGger details on week 4 of that series.

    Thanks Chris I note you move your hips left as you drop your arms is this involuntary or do u also turn shoulders to bring arms down and the hips and knees react .Having trouble understanding this transition part of the swing,I have been trying Ben hogans ips and knees by leaving the arms alone at the top and moving just the lower part pushing the bent left leg up and driving the right knee towards the left knee,but will need practice if this is the right understanding.

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  Год назад +2

      Hi Garry, ideally, you want the torso to feel like it’s staying as wound as possible while the arms start down and the hips start to change the direction of the swing. The hips will pull the shoulders back to a square to slightly open position at impact. Hope that makes sense.

    I've been working on this but cant get it right. Clubface is so open at the bottom I just start hitting ridiculous push slices even though I have always hit it right to left. I then have to compensate by becoming really aggressively handsy just to square the club face up and even when I do I just get ugly low punch shots basically.

      You can use this with every club in your bag. When you start getting into specialty shots like flop shots, there can be some variance. It just depends on what you're trying to do with the AOA the path and the face in these specialty shots.

    Been working on this move with the trail elbow over the last 6 months and the results have been nothing but positive. Hitting them pure and farther with way less effort. Squaring up the face with the hip rotation takes the arms out of play and makes the strike way more consistent. My pre shot routine now consists of taking the club from the nine o’clock position to three o’clock to get the feeling (no longer wasting energy with endless practice swings) and then I just take it back and pull the trigger…….even your misses will be better!

    I believe the reason people cast is because in their mind they realize the hands are much closer to the ball than the club head. So they feel the need to throw the club head so it can catch up to the hands at impact.

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  Год назад

      Yeah most of the time people want to accelerate the club from the top because that feels like the right place to get things going to be really fast at the bottom. Speed can be produced but it makes it really really hard to be consistent with the amount of shaft lean needed to be a consistent ball striker.

      This game is super fun BUT will drive you crazy most of the time…if you allow it to. Most important thing you can do for yourself in the process of change, is work on the right things at the right time. Things that are pertinent for your game in its current state. I see so many people get lost in the abyss of golf instruction and not make any progress as a result. We can help you with that here.
