I've been in the avian field now for the better part of 30yrs. I've worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. And i must say this footage is STELLAR photography and putting it all together and watching it was a sheer delight for me. Corvids happen to be my one of my favorite family of birds. They consist of; Ravens, crows, magpies, rooks, jackdaws, jays, and nutcrackers. And the Eurasian Jay or commonly referred to as just "a jay" is the originator of it's class. While Blue and Steller's jays are large and can be predatory. The Eurasian is bigger then both of them averaging around 13-15in so it's a no wonder why this little Accipiter was having difficulty taking down a bird this large. Much less feisty as Eurasians have quite an aggressive attitude and are FAR more predatory then there smaller cousins the Blue and Steller's. That's not to say the hawk couldn't kill one but it would have one helluva fight on it's hands in the process. And sometimes it's not worth the effort on there part realizing a well placed peck of the jay's strong beak could easily remove an eye...!!! However, EXCELLENT footage none the less that i thoroughly enjoyed watching. Keep up the GREAT work...!!! And happy birding everyone keep your eyes to the skies you just never know what your going to see...:)
As far as the bird world goes, I don't think I've seen anything so beautifully put together. Absolutely fantastic. Video, slow-mo, music....................hats off !
I’ll never forget the time I saw my first sparrowhawk. They’ve been one of my favourite birds of prey since that day. I still see them occasionally. Though they rarely hang around very long
Wow, what a superbly edited video you have created there. You have obviously put a lot of groundwork and time into capturing so much superb footage. There are few videos that people tend to watch right through, if over a few minutes but this was one of them. I think the Jay might have battled too hard for the Sparrowhawk and it didn't seem all that bothered about it. And then of course it has a go at a Magpie! It was a really enjoyable watch and well done to you.
Wonderful footage. In my Ghillie Suit I've often watched young Sparrowhawks sparring like this with up to 7 young Jays in my local wood. It's fantastic fun & so exciting to watch, it's as if they are all involved in a training exercise.
That said with 2 misspellings its a fantastic video .Even the lichen on the dead tree was brilliant .The person videing this was so good at concealment .Im giving it a straight 10👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Which camera, brand and model were you using? I can't believe it could even capture rain droplets aplenty, not by chance. Very good job. It's the clarity of the picture which got me to subscribe.
Hi AntPDC, than you :-) As youtube downsamples to 16mb/s from HD original approx 80mb/s it will be better quality in 4k with downsample to 40mb/s. The video is also shot in 4k 50fps which have bitrate 150mb/s.

Astonishingly well captured and superbly put together. This to me is more than a piece in a program It's Living Art! Incredible. Thanks x
Great camera work. The rain gives this video a certain edge. I in particular like the slow-motion sequences. Thanks for posting.
It's all in slow motion

Corvids are smart and fierce and can be incredibly acrobatic - at the same size, that poor sparrowhawk doesn't stand a chance. Beautiful footage.

Wonderful.
Wonderful! Well done !
Superb video, how anyone can give this a thumbs down I do not know. Where is this taken?
The reason for dislikes is its a missleading title. Replace the VS with and. Great video though.
One word: perfect!
These duck are the most colorful and brilliant as well as the adventure of the while hunting birds of prey.

An awful lot of clean air at this location!
Beautiful work, thank you. On a technical point, what benefits accrue from upscaling to 4k from native resolution other than a much larger file size?

Beautiful. I wish they could post this in HD @60 FPS so we could see the motion in detail. Would be so awesome.

any delightful section to FIT INTO that title.

again people this is a sharp shinned hawk not a sparrowhawk
Hi Darrion, you are wrong. Look up Eurasian Sparrowhawk which is the type we have in Norway. Sharp Shinned are found in USA/Canada
A brilliant video
.but wait until next year when shes griwn up and no jay will be the biss of her .Shell malivogue them 1 by 1 ..
Fantastic footage. Corvids always seem to harass birds of prey, no matter how big they are 😅
What is the location?
Physical Cliff the location is Dalen, Norway
Sparrow hawk???? Are you sure??? : looks more like a Kestral to me.
Yes im sure it is an sparrowhawk...
Sad that you have $2K+ o f hardware but you can't ease in and ease out the title scaling correctly. 0:00
Wow
This is highly garbled video. This causes severe headache. Make it more sequential
Great footage...tortuously bad music. Ugh.
There is a thing called a volume control. U can use it, right?
MANY THANKS.
