Bruce Katz long time keyboardist for Ronnie Earl features Prof Mike Williams on guitar @Berlin Blues

Michael Williams is an associate professor in the Guitar Department at Berklee College of Music and specializes in teaching a mix of blues and jazz styles.
Mike has been active as a blues and jazz guitarist since 1987, performing extensively throughout the United States and Canada as a member of Grammy Award-winning James Cotton's blues band, and with many other artists, including Mighty Sam McClain, Toni Lynn Washington, Michelle Willson, Jerry Portnoy, blues piano virtuoso David Maxwell, and his own band, Michael Williams and Friends. Williams performed on James Cotton's album, 35th Anniversary Jam, which won a W.C. Handy Award and received a Grammy nomination for best traditional blues album in 2003. He performed on Bruce Katz's 2004 release, A Deeper Blue, and his playing, songwriting, and arranging are featured on Michelle Willson's album, So Emotional. He released Late Night Walk, which features 10 original compositions with guest artists David "Fathead" Newman on tenor sax, Sugar Ray Norcia on vocals, and Bruce Katz on Hammond B3 organ and piano.
Bruce Katz was an Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music for fourteen years (1996-2010), teaching Harmony, Hammond organ labs, Blues History and Private Piano Instruction. Bruce is a legendary keyboardist (Hammond B3 and Piano) who has released 12 albums as a leader and has appeared on over 75 other CDs with the likes of John Hammond, Delbert McClinton, Ronnie Earl, Little Milton, Butch Trucks, Duke Robillard, David "Fathead" Newman, and many, many others.
Bruce has also had a strong musical connection with the Allman Brothers Band, and was a member of Gregg Allman's band for six years (2007-2013), Jamoe's Jasssz Band (2010-2015), Butch Trucks' Freight Train Band and Les Brers (2015-2017). Bruce also occasionally toured with the Allman Brothers as well.
Bruce is a seven-time (2008, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2019, 2020,2021) Nominee for the Blues Music Award (W.C. Handy Award) for "Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year", selected by the Blues Foundation of Memphis, TN. He won the BMA for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year in 2019 for his collaboration with Joe Louis Walker and Giles Robson for Journeys to the Heart of the Blues and is nominated again in 2020 for the same award for his acoustic piano album Solo Ride. He was also nominated for "Outstanding Musician (Keyboards)" by Living Blues Magazine in 2015 and 2019.

BTW, it's an immaculate cover of "I Wonder Why", also known as "Blues in D Natural" written by Earl Hooker. I'm sure Bruce Katz has played this standard live hundreds of times with Ronnie Earl.

Thanks! What town/state did you watch from?
We recorded so many great performances from many talented musicians. Sadly, I get to see how many are no longer with us. Understandable for musicians like 92 y.o .Pinetop Perkins, but playing music for a living is deadly for too many others.

@@BluesPlateSpecial I was in Willington at the time, watching on Charter later Spectrum Cable. I taped a lot of episodes on VHS.
You've done a lot to help musicians even the odds, something I respect a lot. I had a beer with pinetop one night in a downtown
Hartford bar. I hope you can keep harvesting your collection for RUclips. Venues and other resources for musicians have continued to diminish since the covid catastrophe.

The show still airs across RI and parts of CT, but I only just started the RUclips channel a year ago after Mike Crandall died (on stage) and decided to start the channel with an episode of he and his band. It's grown from there usually about 2 clips a week. I watched your clip of Muddy Waters at Shaboo... nice! 3 of my episodes were shot at the 25th Anniversary Concert that Lefty Foster sponsored.... there are 3 great interviews with Lefty mid-point of the Jonanthan Edwards, James Cotton and Shaboo Allstars shows.
