Hi Roger, yes good seeing you too! Can you confirm; I get the impression 'the powers that be' don't let you do much modelling at the club and the group is forced to "think outside the box" and model at home, i.e. table top layouts. You folks should therefore leave the PRR and form your own table top layout group (there's no point in joining a club if the club layout can't even be displayed at the club show, lol). I start scrolling through video after video, year-after-year of the club layout and it's pretty much been at a standstill. With over 30 members, it should have been finished years ago. (just an observer's point of view). Have "fun" at the meetings, lol.

They have scenicing groups, so progress being made on both layouts. I'm in a lull in motivation, I might go work on layout tomorrow morning if I wake up energetic. Anything I do at home is for personal enjoyment, no conspiracy by the powers that be I just like sharing with folks at shows.

Yes, you're right - forgot about that one. It's a good show, worth attending. Although, last time it was "dead" after a few hours (you could shoot a cannon down the aisles and was the slowest I've ever seen it). Tough economic times have certainly taken a toll on the secondary market; with higher prices, fewer people, and less disposable income.

@@chrisdaniell2990 was the pine ridge show had less vendors?

I was a member of the Pine Ridge club for about 4-5 years. In that time, between then and now I would say the show has suffered 'shrinkage'. They manage to make the gym look "full" by inviting particular clubs to fill the space, i.e. the G Scale Thomas the Tank layout was new this year. The PRR club used to bring a larger HO scale set, however, everything has shifted to 'table top' layouts as members have no interest in setting up/taking down larger layouts; consider most of those guys are 60+ (maximize laziness, minimize effort.. so long as folks see "value" and pay at the door). The same group of vendors attend year-over-year, with mostly the same stuff from the previous year. I wish they had more "gems" or "value" in what they offered. I can get anything I want on eBay, why would I then pay an eBay price at a train show? (that's what vendors don't get, which is why sales are 'brisk'). I bought my DC Controller for $40 (tagged at $50) and add my admission of $7, brings it to $47. I ended up saving the 'shipping' and 'tax' compared to eBay, making it a 'deal'. Vendors are facing the same pressure as brick-and-mortar stores; they can't compete with online offerings, have less stock on hand, and what they have is just getting older and older.
