  • To celebrate the re-issue of Robin Ince's acclaimed book I'm a Joke and So Are You, Robin took to the stage at one of our favourite London venues, The Wanstead Tap, for a special one off evening.
Robin talks about mental health, the shrapnel of 'edgy' comedy, neuroscience, Derek Jarman, bookshops, Lemn Sissay, ADHD, losing his Dad and a whole lot more. It is Robin after all.
The evening went on for a couple of hours, and we're delighted to offer you an hour of it for free here on the Shambles channel.

Robin -- you are fantastically brilliant. Thank you for your honesty, and your unguardedness. It's a rare way to be in the world, but a good way, I think.

That was great, very impressive you got through that letter from the ambulance crew to your father without crying, though that did undermine the previous joke about the true meaning of "keep calm and carry on", or maybe reveal you as a highly proficient practitioner of it as a philosopy.

Oh wow, Robin live? Ever since getting into the Infinite Monkey Cage and seeing you on the occasional RUclips video (usually enduring Ricky Gervais) I’ve really wanted to see you live. Looking forward to this =)

A long time Monkey Cage fan and a bit of a latecomer to Robin’s solo stuff. The Reality Tunnel on radio 4 is one of the best things I’ve heard. It’s hilarious and masterfully insightful. Robin is so very underrated, but I guess this is the price you pay for being a genius intellectual comedian - as Tim Minchin sang “clever never made no one rich”. The massive bonus for me is that Robin’s brain sounds very similar to mine, so I’m glad there is someone else out there whose brain is borderline torturing them 🤣 thank you Robin 😁

Loads of clever people are very rich. Minchin is an arse.
