I would send that back. With that said I just bought a aftermarket EGO 56V 5.0Ah battery made by DSANKE from Amazon. It says it has a 18 month warranty and comes with a wall mount. I have used it with my EGO Leaf Blower and 16" Line Trimmer, it last long enough to trim the whole yard and blow off the walkway. I kept using it with the Line Trimmer until the battery was completely depleted, then put it on the EGO Rapid Charger. The EGO charger was able to completely recharge the battery, the only issue was the charger fan never shut off even tho the charger stopped charging the battery and didn't over charge it. I've done this 2x since owning the new aftermarket battery and think I would recommend it to someone looking for a cheaper alternative to the EGO battery. So send that one back and get the DSANKE 5.0Ah battery!

Try leaving it on the charger overnight (24 hours if you can ). Preferably the slowest charger you have. You may have some cells that arent balanced properly. The internal bms may be able to trickle charge the lowest cells to balance them all out. Not all bms have this feature, but it may help.
The generic Ego batteries don't have a phase-changing material around each cell like the real Ego batteries do that keeps Ego batteries running cooler longer, thus lasting longer.
If genuine n they look genuine they are Samsung 2500mah 25Rs , 20amp discharge, the pcb at front is the BMS Battery Management System board could be the problem then again the batteries just arent balanced..

Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Testing a used genuine battery again a new battery isn't fair, the life of any lithium battery goes down slowly constantly with use.

I agree. I think you have a dud. I have a generic one and it works just as well as the original.
