A better test might be a lower amp draw for a longer time period. Maybe use a window fan. Heat producing appliances drain any battery quickly. Thank you for the video!
Going to try and max range test
I purchased a generic ego battery via ebay. The weight of the battery was about half that of the genuine battery. I sent it back. Clearly it was not rated correctly.
100% an issue, thanks for watching!

Spent $220 on an aftermarket (Amazon) battery. It lasted 9 months...died after just a few uses. Reached out to the seller, but they are half a world away, and couldn't care less. No warranty folks. Never again!!
I have often thought buy dtk batteries. But my concern is the chances of fires.
What are the risk of fires associated with after market batteries like dtk?
These batteries worked good so far, have a decent bms to protect from fire. But only time will tell. Thanks for watching!
“Konking out”? Sounds like Brit-speak to me…
The early batteries were great, but somewhere along the way, they have started sourcing cheaper cells.
I have the Z6 and watch my batteries like a hawk. I’m afraid they will die before the 5 year warranty expires and I will be claiming, if that happens!
lol, hopefully your batteries last. Ego is good with honoring their batteries for warranty. Thanks for watching
Names seem to keep changing. "DTK"? SunMily seems gone? Anyway, thx as "$100 vs 2-300" dollar batteries still seem to prove out despite falling short of claimed amp hours (3.5 vs 5). At some point, hopefully more people gut these and reach for those Tesla cells. 18650, 2170, to keep their stuff alive. I'm still dumping electric-(insert tool here) because I don't tear down, yet, and rebuild.
Been noticing the longevity of these Ego cells is poor along with their recharge and discharge rates. Changing the cells would definitely yield a better battery. Really need to update these to a pouch cell, which I believe is in the works with Ego. My guess is sometime next year, but probably going to be expensive, but will drive down the cost of their legacy batteries.
Thanks for watching!
@@Fix-it-tony No expert here, but thought pouch cells were proprietary? Replacing a non-standard form factor might get tricky (shape?). I've only seen them in RControl brick batteries. Tools I've seen have consistently been cylindrical. FWIW, pretty happy between chain saw and blower use of an EGO 5.0 a/h. Got 3 years out of it. Homeowner stuff, only.
