  • If you are into Smart Home devices, like I am, then this Meross Smart Garage Door Opener is ALMOST a must have! You need a garage first.
    My quest for remote control of my garage door started when I left my garage open all day, while I was at work, and found a possum trapped inside the next day.
    I have an outdoor camera pointed at my garage and now, even if I see it is open, and I'm not home, I can close it in a second.
    Even better, it works with my 5 Amazon Echo devices, my Apple TV, my Apple Watch, my iPhone, CarPlay, and if you have Google Home devices, it will work them too!
    UPDATE 2/17/24: The MSG100HK also works with SmartThings. It does not say it on the box. I was able to program this to a SmartThings button and stick it next to my door for yet ANOTHER way to control the door.
    From anywhere, I just tell some device to open/close garage door, and it's done.
    I really needed this to replace my garage remote for my detached garage. Its signal was spotty and very frustrating from inside the house.
    Most newer model garage door openers are compatible. They have a list in the user guide available on the Amazon product page. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/B...

      Glad to hear it! It’s been several months for me, I don’t even try to use the standard remote in the house now, just yell for Alexa to help. I can’t remember having a single issue with it.
      I do have a question though, do you use either the original remote from the garage door manufacturer or the programmable buttons in your vehicle? I use the programmable buttons in my Jeep, and feel like there was a slight reduction in the range since installing the Meross unit. It works, just feels like I have to be closer to the garage now. Could be my imagination. Even if that’s the case, the benefits still outweigh that problem.
      Thanks for watching!

      That’s great to hear! I hope my video was helpful.
      It’s been a month or more with mine and it works every time. Since I made the video, I’ve connected the Meross opener to SmartThings. I had an unused SmartThings button that I assigned to the garage door. Sometimes I open with voice, sometimes the button, there are so many options.
      Thanks for watching!

    Wow, simple and straight to the point setup, well done. Can the app be set up to add a restricted user. IE: only for certain times and duration that a person has limited access?

      Thank you! This is not a feature I was looking for so I had to look. After scouring the app, I do not see this functionality, unfortunately. That would be neat though.
      I know most garage door opener manufacturers have their own proprietary products that Amazon can use to open your garage for packages, it’s possible those products have a similar function for friends/family/dog walkers/etc. I don’t have any experience with them though. Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
      Thanks for stopping by!

    Can you use Apple home, siri & carplay without connecting it to an Apple hub (eg. apple tv or homepod)?

    • @TheGardenDefenderReviews
      @TheGardenDefenderReviews  2 месяца назад +2

      Unfortunately no, Homekit requires an Apple Hub (Apple TV or Home Pod) to authenticate you (your Apple ID) for security purposes when away from home. If your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network, as the device, then it SHOULD work from the Home app, but I am not an expert, and this is probably not the functionality you're going for. Sorry.
      Hope this at least answers your question, let me know if you have any others.
      Thanks for watching!

    if wi-fi goes down, will you still be able to use your garage remote button or the wall mounted button?

    • @TheGardenDefenderReviews
      @TheGardenDefenderReviews  2 месяца назад

      Yes you will! When I first installed mine I had it connected to my house WiFi network, but the garage door blocks the WiFi signal from the house when it’s closed. I have a detached garage BTW. I had to use the remote button that came with the opener to open the door.
      I then connected to my garage WiFi network and it has worked flawlessly since.

    Is there a way to connect it to the OEM in-car garage door opener?

    • @TheGardenDefenderReviews
      @TheGardenDefenderReviews  2 месяца назад

      If I understand what you're asking, you're wondering if you can connect the Meross smart garage door opener to the programmable buttons in your car, either on your rearview mirror or the overhead console? If that is the only functionality you desire, I would just follow you car manufactures instructions for controlling your garage door opener, and don't bother with this unit. But, to answer your question, I don't see any way to make this connection, at least based on my experience.
      The smart garage door opener is designed to integrate with smart home devices.
      They can be used concurrently, I do. My vehicle buttons control by door opener. But I also use a few Amazon Echos around my house and my phone on occasion.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!!
