Tal is a wonderful player with strong musical sense. Whoever played bass here should just find new work. That solo was a disgrace to the song. Jeff and Tal were really perfect for each other. Neither would ever think of playing anything like what I just heard here.

Me too. Some people say he's just a shredder, but they don't get it at all. In this case he plays with a lot of respect for Beck's wonderful piece AND with a lot of feel and taste. He always does.

Jeff Beck was the best guitarist I ever saw in person on electric guitar. After seeing Guthrie live I realized why all Becks peers said he was truly of the the greatest.
Matteo is a fantastic player -- to state the obvious. What makes Beck's recording special, IMO, is the way it slowly builds up to an intense crescendo and then gently backs off, gracefully returning to the opening bends. The overall piece had a distinctive shape, or narrative. Even in the best covers, like this one, the transition from slow to fast and back isn't quite as smooth and controlled. Still very impressive though.

Matteo is an amazing guitar player but I don't think anyone nowadays will ever have the same feel as Jeff...he could have so much more feel in a single note than anyone else. Santana would always go on about having that one note that you put all your emotion in but the only player I ever got that with was Jeff. No one knows how he did it which is why he's the best.

Probably his long time bassist from SNIPS band, Riccardo Oliva. They did the Jaco tune, The Chicken and also Spain a while back. He has another band that also recorded in his new album with bassist Stefano India. He plays with both. Both are excellent players.
This is one of the most powerful and emotional songs Jeff Beck ever recorded. An instrumental piece that makes you wanna burst into tears and Matteo’s approach just doesn’t. Unfortunately Jeff’s touch cannot be matched nor replicated. Makes you realise why he was the guitarist’s guitarist, the one every other player looked up to for decades. Anyone can play the notes, nobody can do it the way he did. Don’t get me wrong, I like Matteo a lot and class him as a top player and a generational talent. I just think he tried to fill really big boots here and unfortunately he is going to be compared. Good news for him, I still haven’t heard anyone that really has filled Jeff’s boots…

Nah for me. I had the pleasure of seeing Jeff play this live and this doesnt come close to that experience. Mateo is a ridiculous player and his technique is frightening but you cant cover Jeffs signature piece & even hope to get close to that emotion.

Awesome camerawork, totally ignores the other instrumentalists during their solo. 1:32 onwards for example.
