I’m a Jewish grandfather and am truly amazed at how organized and calm you are with a job and 5 kids! You are a wonderful family and superb parents! These are great, insightful, and well produced videos. I don’t know how you do all this, but thank you.
@@SonyasPrep Sonya, whatever your secret formula, you should bottle it! The world would be a better place if all working parents could manage life as amazingly well as you both do.
I’m not Jewish I’m Latina and I wish I had a family like this . Well behaved kids and peaceful home . Love your videos it’s so peaceful and keeps me company while I’m home alone
I never gave an allowance for chores. For us chores are what you do to live in a family. When they wanted something special I always bought it for them because parents provide for their children even special things. The special things would be determined by grades and behaviors. They grew up and I am happy to report that none of them became serial killers.
However, having said that i DO think that the kids that got an allowance understood the concept of money more because in the real world a good grade and good behavior does not translate into money. Kids that had to WORK for it understood the value more. So there are good and bad points to both really. Like everything I guess. Lol also, they didn’t become serial killers either 😂
Someone modeled for you a very calm and organized upbringing - it’s amazing to see. Maybe people with a more chaotic upbringing should hang out with a family like yours before having kids. I just can’t help but think this is innate in you but would feel impossible to someone who had never seen it done ❤️
I am a newlywed with no children and one dog. I am also in graduate school full time and working part time. We are Reform, but I am so invigorated by your spiritual and emotional intentionality towards your husband and children.
What a sweet family. Soniya is a very efficient and loving mother. Her kids are growing up in an atmosphere of so much love and affection.Shalom and love to you Soniya.
we have always felt with our 4 kids that we all live in the house so they should all take part in the ‘chores’ it takes to run the household and no payment should be attached to that. Any allowance that is given is seperate from regular chores.
Thank you for another wonderful video! ❤ Our kids are all grown, but when they were young we gave them chores and an allowance based on the difficulty of the job. Their bedrooms were something that they needed to clean without pay. Also we gave them 3 mason jars each and labeled those saving, giving, and spending. They divided the money into 1/3rds, and placed the money into the various jars. It worked well for us. 😊
I read that technique in a book by Dave Ramsey. It's simple, effective, and instills fiscal responsibility. I also like that you have them prepare their snacks and backpacks the night before in addition to them going to bed early. You are teaching them strong life skills!
I made a chart on a piece of poster board and for each chore they did without me telling them to they got a happy face. If I had to remind them they got a check. At the end of the week we added up what they had. They would get a small gift (for boys they loved the match box cars) and that was a good incentive to do their chores. It helped. When you have kids and work outside the home anything helps. And for air fryers....I have 3 and I love them.
I was raised from a strong Jewish family. Tv was for adults ONLY. I watched tv after I earned my double BA, specialist MA , and Double PHD . We had chores and earned allowance. They were independent of each other. Chores are because I was part of a family and allowance was a sign of independence and trust. We were three siblings. My parents wanted more but my mom almost died with me, and as a result had two additional Caesarian’s. The chores were split to:1. Wash dishes, 2. Dry and put them away, and 3. Fold Towels I very much enjoy your videos. My grandparents kept Kosher. My parents did until for two yrs we moved to a small town without Jewish people ( 1971-1972). We moved back to a Jewish area. I was only 9 when returning but my parents did not feel comfortable. Keep making your videos. I just got my first air fryer and I love it. God Bless.
I'm a faithful Christian walking on the Lord's path. I just LOVE watching your video and I pray the Lord Blesses me with a good husband and children to take great care of like you do with yours. May HaShem continue to Bless you and your family abundantly ❤
I’m really glad that you posted this video! When I was frum (I grew up secular, became frum, then left it after several years) I always felt that a lot of frum people couldn’t handle the amount of children they had. I’d go to their houses and it was a free for all…a bala Gan…a three ring circus. I felt bad for them. This video shows that organization pays off! So thank you!!!
My kids are grown, but I had chores they got paid for, and chores they did not get paid for. Cleaning their room they did not get paid for. Dusting the bottoms of the furniture in the living room or den they got paid for. Picking up their toys, they did not get paid for (they lost use of them if they did not get put up and had to be earned back by doing extra chores), but picking up sticks in the yard, they got paid for. I also kept a list of extra chores if they wanted to earn extra money.
Sonya can not only multi task a zillion things love love watching her cook she has a very soothing voice as a Italian/Catholic if she were my nun in school I’d ace my classes ❤️
You say you’re really lucky that your kids love vegetables, but I think it’s largely down to you, and exposing them to all sorts of food groups from an early age, so kudos to you mama
The trick for everything going well the next day is preparation the night before and keeping on top of stuff so that things don't get out of control! It's so important, no matter how tired you are, to go to bed with a clean kitchen and tidy home because I always said that if kids wake up to a mess they just add to the mess! Laundry and dishes - always the challenge for every household! And, everybody, onion are the best natural source for Quercetin - just read up on all that Quercetin can do for you. You should be eating them every day!
I love your videos! We do chores for everyone, every month they have a new chore to learn. This is a basic chore they do because we are all a family and we all help make the mess and we all help clean it up. Then we have a list of extra chores that they can do to earn money. The amount is based on the size and effort of the chore.
I’m probably older than you when you started having kids, but I’m still so afraid of the responsibilities of raising children. But the way your organize everything, you make it look possible, and the clear love that drives you is very inspiring! Of course, this looks like a relatively smooth night- everyone is healthy, no apparent disasters, haha! Quick question: with you and your husband having full-time jobs, what do you do when one of your kids is sick or doesn’t have school? I would imagine that with 5 kids, that would happen fairly often!
I was blessed with many children. I think kids are so much fun. They have come with unique personalities and senses of humor. Having children in our home was a wonderful experience! Our children were raised in the country with chores. They usually did not get paid for doing their chores, but we would take them into town for movies or going out to dinner as rewards.
I watch your videos over and over again, Sonja, and you just bring so much joy to my life! You and your wonderful family. You are truly amazing and truly blessed! Thank you for sharing your life with us! I have to tell you that my brothers were twins - and when they were 5 years old they were approached by some Nazi officer who wanted to take them to "appear in some movie," supposedly, and my brothers ran away back home. Thank God because that was when Hitler wanted twins to do experiments on. This was told to me by my brother - which was really frightening! They could have been taken to one of the camps never to be seen again and I am so thankful that it didn't happen. Sorry, my dear, for bringing up these stories, but seeing your beautiful family just makes me so grateful that my family remained intact for the most part.
Yes our kids have chores. Teenager vacuumes the entire house daily! Our 10 year old takes care of chickens (feed, water, collecting eggs, clean coop), mop the floors. And my youngest who is 7 takes out the trash & recycling, feeds the dog, and he requested to take care of baby chicks: feed, water, clean. All three kids put away clean laundry, set up the table, and clean up after we have a meal.
Another wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your kitchen control, but also how you have the children obviously loving helping you do it. I’ve had two husbands & lived with my brother & thanks to their Mums, (yes, my Mum too!) not teaching them to do tasks around the house it has been a war getting them to stop myself from thinking “Oh, it’s easier to do it myself.” I sat on my hands & let them get the message. So when I hear women opine, “I blame the mothers!” I always look at the wife’s expression, to see if the Mum is oblivious to her own shortcomings! I’m practically bedridden these days, my brother is a big help, but that’s not down to Mum, he married my best friend & she sorted him out! 😊
My son always helped at home, he didn't get an allowance as such, every so often he and I would go out after school and he would get something he had wanted, one time is was a football top and then out for tea, he was thrilled. When he was older, I would go for groceries and phone from the car and let him know I was back, he would come out and help bring everything in and put it away, while I had a cup of tea that he made for me. The chicken and potatoes looked amazing and the blooming onion superb. I had one a few years ago, but can still remember enjoying it. Have a great week with your gorgeous family.
This was such a delightful video! Your kids are all adorable, the youngest boy especially has the most beautiful smile : ) thank you so much for sharing your night time routine including some prepping you do to make your morning easier, that is wonderful!
Your videos are wonderful and inspirational even for a mama who’s son is grown and on his own! But, when he was home, he did chores with no allowance. We explained that we all had to help keep the house running…that it’s just part of being a responsible, good family member. Growing up myself as the youngest of five (five in seven years), we all had chores. There was the occasional allowance, but not consistently. Still, we were always expected to get our chores done. Whatever you chose, I am sure it will work…you and Mr. Prep have a wonderful family!!
Our almost 7 year old does chores. We don't give her an allowance yet. We started out with having her wash dishes, but the water needed to be hotter than she was accustomed to, so I ended up taking that chore (We don't have an electric dish washer.). She is now in charge of the cats. So she cleans the cat box and feeds them and entertains them. Two of our cats are rescues that we found as kittens in the gutter drain at our neighbors house after he passed. It all involved having the fire department come out and unscrew the gutter to get them out. We adopted them. Ms Johanna helps me in the kitchen with baking and cooking, but that really isn't a chore. It's a fun hands on lesson as part of her homeschooling, that we call home ec. When we have a garden, she helps me keep it watered. Oh! And she helps me make the bed.
I love this. Our family is pretty organized as well and we homeschool. Our kids are getting a bit older now and so they eat a lot more than your kids do haha but I just love this. Going back to the old ways and teaching our children from the time they are very very young is so important. This is what helps to keep the organization in the house. Unfortunately I didn't have such an upbringing and my children didn't from the beginning but we are doing this now. They easily been to this but I think it's because they love routine and they love to work hard. My kids love eating healthy as well. I am blessed. Thank you for sharing your night routine. It looks very much like mine. 💜
Your family is so sweet and I always look forward to all your videos. I can’t even comprehend the common core math my son who is also in 4th grade is doing. He’ll ask me for help and then I ask google, lol. Definitely different way of doing math then how I grew up. You make your videos feel as if we are with you as friends and they’re very pleasant. Much love ❤️
Your evening routine has inspired me to find better ways to organize my family. The rice in the oven and the air fryer are two of many ideas I am thankful to learn from you. I also work full time in a public school setting, and attend to my family at home. I used to work part time, and this recent change to full-time after seven years has been a steep learning curve. May HaShem continue to bless you and your family. Toda Rabah ❤
I love this channel. I'm glad I found you. I think you are helping people to understand we are not so different from eachother when it comes to family. Hopefully more people will open their minds and hearts. Being Jewish, sometimes makes me feel sad that there are so little things that show show Jewish homes and holidays. Now I find more people are doing You tube channels. Thank you.
I love your videos! I’m not Jewish but I love learning about Judaism! I also love all your prep, cooking and general family life. You never seem overwhelmed. Thank you!
Thank you for showing us your reality, that way you give us strength to carry out our day to day, congratulations to your husband for cooperating. I was just looking for a recipe to make chala bread and I kept watching your routine. I will continue. I subscribe.
Thank you so much for posting another enjoyable and inspirational video. You are absolutely phenomenal in everything you do. Your husband and kids are too lucky to have an adorable and kind human being like you with them. You put so much effort into your Nighttime routine that it is amazing. Many, many blessings to you Sonya!
Your Family is so beautiful! Saying Shema with them is so precious. Night time prayers helps us so much!! They grow up so fast!! May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and keep you safe.
I’ve became a single parent when my children was 9 and 6 years old my oldest son said “now I’m the man in the house” it happened naturally that we worked at home together, they did chores without me telling them, I think it came naturally because we became alone. I never told them that you can get this and that if you do this but I gave them money of course
I enjoy your videos so much. This made me nostalgic. My three "doorsteps" are grown and this was great to watch. I've recently subscribed to your channel and am binge watching. Although I have Jewish heritage, I'm a Christian, yet we are so, so similar! I'm a Southerner; and I get to see how a New York family does things. A lot like me! You guys are so nice to share your lives with us. Thank you so much. And, I want an air fryer like yours! 🙂
Hello my beautiful lady. I’m a new member of your channel. I absolutely love it. Your family is amazing, the kids are so well behaved, your husband is lovely and you my dear are my hero! I wished I would’ve a role model like you when my kids were little and I was trying to juggle life. I love your organizational skills, which they come very handy now that I’m trying to redo my house after the “kids” are on their own. Love your recipes. Thank you for sharing your life’s with us. God bless you
When we started chore money we required that it be divided into spend, savings, and give and it worked out really well and helped set up a foundation for her to continue. She's now almost 21 and is definitely a saver more than spender. It's for little ones to want to spend money the second they get money but it's good to teach them the idea of saving and not that instant gratification. Love your family, you are a doing an amazing job!
I don’t know how to cook anything. Seriously like no cooking experience. Your video motivated me to purchase this air fryer to get started! I’m a full time grad student and working professional so I’m excited to learn some basic food dishes with my new air fryer. Thanks for the discount code!
You are incredible! Where do you get all the energy from?? Thanks for the inspiration :) would love tips on how you do self care as a mom to keep you going like that!

Your a good mom & wifeGod bless u
Thank you
Your family is so sweet and I always look forward to all your videos. I can’t even comprehend the common core math my son who is also in 4th grade is doing. He’ll ask me for help and then I ask google, lol. Definitely different way of doing math then how I grew up. You make your videos feel as if we are with you as friends and they’re very pleasant. Much love ❤️
I do the same thing in regards to googling common core math problems
I just don’t get it
It seems so illogical 🤯. So happy you are enjoying the videos.
Thank you!
🌸💮Shalom sister.I absolutely love your channel, family, your kosher cooking style, and your faith.Hashem bless you and your family forever and ever 🌸💮
Thank you for showing us your reality, that way you give us strength to carry out our day to day, congratulations to your husband for cooperating. I was just looking for a recipe to make chala bread and I kept watching your routine. I will continue. I subscribe.

Yes love that as well
What beats little faces.❤️
Your rotisserie chicken and potato’s looked great. You never showed the finished onion. I want to try that
Thank you so much for posting another enjoyable and inspirational video. You are absolutely phenomenal in everything you do. Your husband and kids are too lucky to have an adorable and kind human being like you with them. You put so much effort into your Nighttime routine that it is amazing. You have a sweet and beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your videos!
You have a lovely family and are blessed with much love and happiness. God bless you all.
Your Family is so beautiful! Saying Shema with them is so precious. Night time prayers helps us so much!!
They grow up so fast!! May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and keep you safe.
Amen , thank you for your beautiful bracha
You are one busy mama! What a blessing you are to your family! God bless you.
I’ve became a single parent when my children was 9 and 6 years old my oldest son said “now I’m the man in the house” it happened naturally that we worked at home together, they did chores without me telling them, I think it came naturally because we became alone. I never told them that you can get this and that if you do this but I gave them money of course
Your kids are so cute!
Wow, busy, busy. Thank you for sharing.
thank you for watching
Hello my beautiful lady. I’m a new member of your channel. I absolutely love it. Your family is amazing, the kids are so well behaved, your husband is lovely and you my dear are my hero! I wished I would’ve a role model like you when my kids were little and I was trying to juggle life. I love your organizational skills, which they come very handy now that I’m trying to redo my house after the “kids” are on their own.
Love your recipes. Thank you for sharing your life’s with us. God bless you
Awwww, my pleasure. I am honored that you watch
My pleasure, enjoy it.

LaBriut and much love.
This is about a year after you posted this video. I just started to watch you. I find the Jewish Faith really nice. I am not Jewish myself, but I have an aunt who worked as a maid in a Jewish home for almost 50 years (two months shy of 50 years that is).
"I don't understand how they're teaching Maths these days" the plaintive cry of parents the world over🤣🤣🤣
I love and enjoy all of your videos. I can’t wait to try making all of the dishes that you have shared, it looks delicious, as always. Thank You for sharing and Have a fantastic day🍀🍀
How do you come up with such good recipes??? I've tried many of them and OMG!! Delicious!!!
Wow, thank you! Glad you like them

You are precious and bring joy to my evenings when I watch your channel. G-d bless you all.
What a beautiful family you have BAH. May you all be blessed.
Hi Sonya 💕Your videos always bring back great memories of when our kids were young, and I was a young balabusta like you. Our kids are grown and have their own families now. And I think life is even more hectic and crazy. I like what you said about picking up your kids from school (ours went to a Solomon Schechter) and how the fun just begins! So true. That was the part of the day I looked forward to and enjoyed the most. Keep posting videos! Thank you for sharing.💕
Everything looked delicious. Often, I am like Mr. Prep where I have to improve some things before I speak with my health coach. Sonya, you did an amazing job as always. (Regrettably, we are all in the "same boat" with third and fourth grade math.
Fabulous
