    Just wanted to pop in and say you can actually get pvc with a 5 connector crosssway instead of screwing in a fifth separate piece to a 4 connector. Not all hardware stores will offer them, but amazon has packs of 4 for $10. So if you don't want to buy a screw but want an 8 spoke staff, this is an option.

    Hey! Thank you so much for the video. I wanted to learn this sport but as it is not a common sport in my country, dragon staff is only available online at an exorbitant price. I followed your video nd have been successful in making one myself! Your video was extremely helpful. Thnx!

    Something to consider is also using the Cement with Screws for a more secure hold on the 5th attachment point on the Quad Cross Connectors. If you can sanding the Cap a bit flat will allow for better hold with Cement... Cheers...

    It might be a good idea to get an amazon affiliate link and link all the parts. Not only would you possibly make some extra money but I would like it just to see what the Amazon rate for each item is. Of course, I understand if you don't want to support them in any way, in which case I'd love a list with a generic price next to it so I could add up roughly how much it would cost based on what I already have at home.
    Great video, thanks!

    Any estimates on the overall cost? Also, is the size recommendation the same for everyone or should it be a certain proportion to your body?

    When you put the wooden dowel in, could you put a little hot glue in there to hold the dowel In place to keep it from rattling? Or is the rattle just going to be there regardless?

    • @GraceGood
      @GraceGood  4 года назад

      I think hot glue is a great idea! I think there will still be a bit of a rattle.. But you should give it a try! It will make it heavier which is good :)

    • @sarahleeann7208
      @sarahleeann7208 4 года назад +1

      You could probably wrap the dowel in duct tape or something until it's snug in there. Probably a hassle, but could add a little extra weight, too

    Awesome tutorial! Will be using this helpful info when assembling my own and some for fam. Any tips for helping to prevent the slight warping that happens where the longest part of the staff sags a little in the middle? I'm new to staff play but I made a regular staff with PVC and there is significant warping that I feel like might be throwing me off (Or that's an excuse I use sometimes at least) but if there is a way to prevent that besides using a more rigid material altogether I'd love to know.
    Also, I truly hope it wasn't too hard to get all that glue off your floor haha maybe it takes a long time to dry or something but I saw those flecks flying and was like, "nooooo your security deposit" lololol

      I recognize this is an old comment, but you could try using something besides PVC for the core. A broom handle, or an aluminum tub both would be comparably cheap and not bend. Cheers!

    if you used sch 80 instead of 40 the staff might not need the dowel, sch 80 is twice as thick and rigid just about

      and its grey, which to me looks cooler

    Is the PVC by itself going to be too light or do you recommend the wooden dowels?

  • @RoseTinted

    You said you don't recommend any longer than 60" for beginners, but it feels kinda short to me (I'm 5' 10"). Does height/wingspan matter when choosing length? Thanks for making this video!

    • @GraceGood
      @GraceGood  4 года назад

      The only thing with a longer staff is it might get a bit wobbly especially with these home made staffs!! I do have some length recommendations and more on my FAQ Here: www.gracegoodcirque.com/new-blog/dragon-staff-faq

  • @britishogo

    AVOID using PVC pipe for the core at all costs. It's a terrible material and wobbles like hell, directly affecting the rigidity needed for dragon staff. For the same price, or less you can use low grade aluminium from a metal warehouse. Ideally you want grade 6082-t6 aluminium in 22mm diameter with 1.5 / 2mm wall. Or the right diameter to fit the pipe splitter.
    These 6082, or 6063 aluminium tubes are cheap and straight, they don't wobble. However they are on the heavier side, and once bent from poor handling / travel they need replacing.
