Everyone talking about how fun it was to play their little woodwinds or brass but never experienced what it was like smashing the crashes together for this beauty
Tbh the crashes only add to the song they aren’t the song it’s self and I have you know my little Tuba is heavier and bigger than your little percussion.
I remember playing this when I was a freshman in high school. I was playing first part on the clarinet and was second chair, I had great times playing it. Definitely one of my favorite pieces.
I remember conducting an arrangement of this with my high school band back in the 1990's. no computers or auto tune, lol. This is such a joyous march. This is is a pretty good arrangement. So short it makes you want to put a repeat from 99 back to measure 67, it makes more sense to me. I would have done that for a concert.
This song will always have a place in my heart. I lost a friend of mine, during one of his highlights we played this for KMEA and when I hear this song I’ll think of him. Rip buddy!
Im playing it in 7th grade this year as an alto sax its really hard but at the same time its an honors group so i cant complain because all the 8th and 9th graders probably already had it down the first day we played it lol
version I played in a high school Honor Band started out with just an oboe solo. Girl kinda squawked it badly on the first attempt, the conductor stopped her, made a little joke to break the tension, and off she went again. Flawlessly the second time, and a great song that I remember almost 45 years later.
i loved this song so much omg playing clarinet for the second year and being 1/2 of the clarinet ones was the best part of band no doubt too bad we wernt confident enough to play this on concert day I love this piece
i also play euphonium its a great song for it because we get to do stuff not just background sounds, my friend plays french horrn he got off notes with basiclly no variation, i felt bad for him
There's a really watered down version of this. I feel so sorry for the ones that get stuck on the 2nd part. All they do is play on the offbeats. For the whole song.
I really like the music hopefully after this pandemic we could play this in band! I wish I could be at school because I miss going to band and thinking about music I could play in my own head.
I remember playing this my freshman year last year. I was playing Clarinet, 3rd part, on 3rd chair. Definitely one of my favorite pieces. This year we are playing American Exultant March. I hate American Exultant March.
Hal Leonard Concert Band oh ok thanks!!! Also I find it cool that my band teacher's friend arranges for you guys! His name (I think) is James or John something. Anyway thanks for making these videos because it gives me an opportunity to play all instrument parts for one song! Thankyou again!
Honestly, playing measure 91 is a pain for me as a flute, ‘cause I just started re-learning flute again and I gotta play 3 octaves higher then normal :P
In our band we were going to play this but we didnt have enough time to learn it so we played Aces Of The Air instead. Still a good piece but i wanted to play this one more.
Tell me why whenever I was in seventh grade, my band (7-8 graders) got this music piece. I’m a tenor saxophone, altos usually get harder parts than us but this was the opposite. Us tenor saxophones personally have easy parts for most pieces of music but whenever I looked at my friends music, (alto) it was 90% rests and whole notes. While tenor sax and baritone were suffering. Trust me.
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, this magnificent march, finely played, is an adaptation of an old march of Spanish fifes, called the "Marcha tradicional de Ingenieros", that is often interpreted in the changes of guard of the "Guardia Real" and the "Regimiento Inmemorial del Rey nº 1", in Madrid. You can listen to it in RUclips: Marcha tradicional de ingenieros.
I'm quite disappointed to hear this is not an original tune by Leemans. I was thinking he must have had a massive brainwave to produce this infectious tune (apparently the first piece of music I strongly reacted to as an infant). Now it seems like he made his name by copying an existing tune. Strange that I cannot find any mention of this elsewhere. I suppose it cannot be the other way round ? The Marcha tradicional de ingenieros being adapted from Leemans' march ? The Spanish march is probably older. Either way, it's a great piece of music and I don't love it any less now. If only I could find a piano version....
I was intrigued by the possibility, but I cannot for the life of me find any origin information for this "Marcha tradicional de Ingenieros", and the only reference to it being old is the word 'tradicional' in that one RUclips clip title. On the other hand, I found a document by the Spanish Ministry of Defence in which they attribute it to Leemans, saying he based it on an old Belgian tune: bibliotecavirtualdefensa.es/BVMDefensa/i18n/catalogo_imagenes/grupo.cmd?path=73138 Do you have information to the contrary? I would love to see it.

My tiny woodwind bassoon crashes very loud
This is probably the happiest and cutest march I've heard
Sounds like it would be appropriate to the Smurfs or Keebler elves.

I remember playing this when I was a freshman in high school. I was playing first part on the clarinet and was second chair, I had great times playing it. Definitely one of my favorite pieces.
Dark Musician I’m having fun playing this at my middle school honor band but I do enjoy Dvorak’s Slavonic dance no. 8 more
I’m playing this song, as the equivalent of a freshman in high school (9th grade), on the clarinet part, and also on first part second chair!
Dark Musician wow... I played it in 6th grade... And like a champ...
@@mayaeisenstein8653 6th grade!!?? Are u like god or something
KingbearPVP she is probably at a magnet school. I only played this in 7th grade
Its a really fun song for clarinets though!

With a title like that, I was expecting it to be more sinister.
Imagine if it had been "Marsch der Fallschirmjäger"
the pitty is, it's played like for a childrens play. It's nice but it lacks the parachutes march a bit.
belgium isn't a very serious place :)
@@ibuprofen-noodles Oh the irony...
Apparently sometimes it's also translated as parachutists rather than paratroopers, which I feel like makes more sense for the tone
This song will always have a place in my heart. I lost a friend of mine, during one of his highlights we played this for KMEA and when I hear this song I’ll think of him. Rip buddy!
It sounds like you had good times and made memories with him. I hope you keep them, and him, in your heart. :)
I love playing this on the bari sax.
Hannah the Musician I played this on bari sax as well in 8th grade I loved it
I didn't actually for a band or anything. I just played along with the recording. I like doing that. :D
Hannah the Musician played with bass clarinet so that was pretty fun
@Hannah the Musician I played this on the clarinet, I love our part and because we are the melody
Im playing it in 7th grade this year as an alto sax its really hard but at the same time its an honors group so i cant complain because all the 8th and 9th graders probably already had it down the first day we played it lol
They played this as we walked out of our high school graduation and neither I nor anyone else at that event have ever been more confused

The song is even better in context
I Love this song it sounds good
I played snare for UIL contest on this piece. We got sweepstakes that year. Good times.
This song is very fun on Bb Bass Cl because it’s so easy compared to some of the others we’re playing
Yessir I’m also a bass clarinet currently working on this song 😎

We played it in junior high band. My last name is the same as the composer!
as a clarinet player its sooooo good to play! but rip horn players
I played the 3rd part. I was 3rd chair. Bb Clarinet
What band plays these things for Hal Leonard??? I need to know.
Virtually all of our recordings are done at a studio with professional musicians.
Hal Leonard Concert Band Do you have a special band that plays songs for you or do random bands play for you guys???
The studio we use hires the musicians that play in the band. They tend to be the same personnel with a few differences at each session.
