For me, this was the most thought-provoking yet hilarious episode yet. And if you think it's rehashed material, you're probably a Brooker fan. Watch it through the eyes of its intended audience and you'll appreciate its genius. It's almost an outrage that this isn't screened in schools because it's not just Brooker fans that should benefit from this.

The aspirational tv speech IS straight out of Screenwipe, But now thats its on BBC2, He's broadened the speech with more relevance, which I think is cool :)

@JJAAHH I felt the same at first - I thought "Hey, wasn't this in the second series?" Firstly, this isn't BBC4 anymore - it's BBC2. It's no longer quite so niche. Secondly, points raised and whizzed through at rapid pace before are now focused on. It's something of a remake and an expansion, I think. Thirdly, Screenwipe seldom felt it had direction - this does. Screenwipe was something of a directionless ramble that was informative and funny - this seems to be a bit more, well, direct, I guess.

@bushiki85 Nigel Slater is awesome. If you like dry chicken with no sauce at all, he's your man. If you like to prepare dessert in an unduly campy fashion - look no further. If you've ever wondered how the Daily Mail would react to 'Strawberries And Basil' then just watch Nigel's affected trepidation. Plus he no longer stalks his neighbours. Apparently.
@005Dresden yer, but that kind of ruins the point of Charlie Brooker's humour. The original point of screenwipe was to observe and sneer and the shite that's on mainstream telly. It is viewed from the perspective of an alternative man.
2:58 'Eaten & digested like lightning.' So, you have your corn flakes, and by the time your pulling out of the drive, you need the loo? Why would that be a selling point? It's like a bad fiber commercial. 'Try Colon Blow! One teaspoon in your morning milk and within minutes, your colon begins evacuating everything you have eaten in the last 15 years. Colon Blow! Pick it up today so you can drop the kids off at the pool tonight.' Ha!
dont hate on Brooker 4 recycling something, its not up to him is it. If they wanted to remake something he did previously (that the bbc obviously liked) but 4 a bigger audience... then so be it, if Charlie decided to take a bigger career move to 10oclock live which he got from being recognised for his genius ability to bluntly & wittily point out things that are wrong in the world in his bbc4 shows then so be it. he's got every right to, don't act like u wouldnt do the same given the opportunity

My problem is that he is also doing 10 o'clock live and you have been watching, which means that he has compromised his artistic integrity by being on the bullshit that he once mocked. I also find that he has changed his sense of humour an awful lot, he is just not as funny as he used to. Must be new TV executives telling him what he can and can't do.
This is just an exact copy of screenwipe, for shame Brooker, for shame, I don't mind the quiff or even the fact you have started doing panel shows, but when you start using old material, for shame.
