Penance TV is actually reminiscent of a Guardian column Brooker wrote 2-3 years ago. And also appears in his book "The Hell of It", available from all good bookstores. Fantastic concept, humiliate the little ASBO toerags!!!
There was actually a show just like the one shown at 7:12 on one the music channels, could be The Box. It was called The Gimp and people would text in and make him do stuff, similar to what's being shown.
CSI seems to be having rather an interesting effect on juries in the US. Because the show basically deus ex machinas its way through every case, the public assumes that's what forensic science really looks like. As such, real forensic investigators are finding that juries are unwilling to accept anything but 100% guaranteed facts from them, something that current techniques and even science itself doesn't really trade in. The bar has been raised from no reasonable doubt to no possible doubt.
That reminds me. There haven't been a lot of milkmen over the past two decades. I wonder if, by "internet milk", he means milk that you can order from the internet...Then again, we already have online grocery shopping. Also, the Bookdrum looks like a cross between an oversized zoetrope and a Ludovico device.
Looking back, how fake was (Noel's House Party) NTV!? Like, "O yes, lets put a rather large ancient-looking non-conspicuous camera on top of the t.v. and hope they don't notice!!" Utter crap!!! The actors earned their money for sure, the fake, surprised expressions were priceless though!!
the penance channel actually sounds like the perfect torture devices to all these celebrities in the news that i want out of the news. think about it Gamu doing all this stuff just to stay in Britain and she'll do it no matter what it is maybe at one point you could break her will and just have her willingly go back to her own country and we can finally bury the so called talent show X factor for the more entertaning NOTHING thats right an entire show of nothing.
This is probably the funniest episode. Brilliant!
lol at the on air punishment spoof, I love the courthouse sketch with the black-hooded red-eyed reaper style character.
I approve of the Sir Anthony Eden Simulator, but I hear the Harold Macmillan expansion pack is going to be a game-changer.
I was just noticing some rimsky korsakov i think it is, but I could be getting it confused with Borodin.

Anyone notice that this has been a very Beethovenian episode? Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, Ode to Joy...

Ah The Thing´s main theme at the beggining, such a combination of pure win!
Oh god, the book sketch with Kevin Eldon is getting depressingly close to how people's attention spans actually are these days.
13:30 I've always said Charlie Brooker is like some sort of machine that every two years spits out funny and informative content.
It was a sketch. The fact that some people are buying the fake segments makes Brooker's point for him.
...the worrying thing is that the satirical explanation for the Penance Channel could make sense in the mind of a politician.
thanks for uploading these :)
Ah man, that old lady ridding bit. So silly.
@schnorschrajaxx I don't know and that's one of the thing I love about Brooker's shows.
I'm glad to see the Bumming Off guy managed to get a job after Bumming Off.

@Jiyuu89 And John Carpenter/Ennio Morricone but that seems to go without saying for Charlie's shows.
My thoughts exactly!
I want a Charlie Brooker robot!
Confession: I watched this while playing a game on my iPhone. Damn it, Brooker.
I would love to know what Charlie thinks about GPT
Who performed that rendition of Fur Elise at 2:52?
Your mum

Took me a while to figure out the boy riding the old lady wasn't real.
6:20 black mirror prediction
13:36 if only Charlie were in Alien. Wonder who would give up and just let the alien kill everyone first.

06:25 A bit of git-surfing? Must have learned that on the Cowsick Estate...
Tried the URL by the way, it's dead. Shame that.
I want internet milk

@schnorschrajaxx I think it's a sketch myself.
Yay for the Thing music. Still hoping the new movie wont suck... But thats just wishful dreaming! Ha ha!
11:00 Blinquist anybody?
KEVIN ELDON
8:32 >tfw robot
I see a rip-off of Chris Morris at 06:22.
I don't live in the UK, this humiliation show can't be real. It's like a joke or parody right? haha
