Great history on this Apache, and a very nice minimalist restoration on it. I've owned and restored 3 of these. One little glitch in your video is when you mentioned converting the electrical system from 6V to 12V. Chevrolets were already on a 12V system since 1955, so there's no conversion needed on this.
Awesome truck and Awesome story my friend I'm in the same boat I have a 59 Apache that I'm going to make into a short bed Fleetside I have everything to do it all the chrome has been done and putting a 454 with a 400 transmission I had heart surgery in last June so I have to hurry up as well😜
My dad had this model but with column shift and six cylinder motor. One afternoon on a Saturday he loaned me the pickup. I went east towards Hart Texas to pickup a friend. Picked him up and on way back to Dimmitt, i accidently took out six big cattle. Fortunately, my friend nor I, got hurt because pickup was going about 50 mph. My dad got mad at me: not for pickup accident, but for not having wreaked guy putting one of the dead cows in the back of pickup,Lol. Well that Sunday went outside from church and the people across the street were cutting up one of the cows, I unfortunately ran over. Bad thing I really was not wearing my glasses and the insurance company would not cover accident. That was after I'd had my driver license for a little time. I felt bad but because I was a kid who got breaks all the time, I never replaced the damaged pickup. I was wrong for not following the requirements of the Texas Driving laws and even thou I do not drive anymore. Still it is essential that we as a society should follow the rules, even if the laws seems stupid. Rules are made by those who really understand and know better. If dad was alive today, it would be great that I could present him with another 58 Apache Pickup.

What brake conversion kit did you use?
