Where you find different kinds of bedrock there's usually a contact zone where gold forms. But that gold has traveled a good long time from the source. Good luck finding a honey hole.
which 2 months are best for prospecting? ive lived in sacramento for decades and would like to start, do you have any recommendations on where to go or how to find a legal place to try panning? i dont think id like to get in the water and swim around like you do but would love to try panning on the side of the river
Look up Auburn rec area, you can pan here and not worry about claims. I'd say September and October would be my pick for best time to prospect for gold. Heavy Pans!
