I logged in to give you a thumbs up, I just got cloudflare going although it is still propagating I wanted to use it in conjunction with w3 total cache as a blog I set up was to slow. Thank you Eric
For the page caching and minification to fully work, W3 Total Cache needs to write a few (well, quite a lot of them) lines into your .htaccess file. If this is writable by the server, it can do it automatically for you. To solve it, you can easily make the files temporarily writable when you install the plugin and then change the permissions back again.
Hi Erik! Very nice tutorial. I just did everything you've mentioned but I am still confused about the CDN and the option you selected. Some people says that its better to use Amazon CloudFront, but like I can see you're using NetDNA ... What is the difference and which one should I use? Waiting for your reply. Best regards!:)
Could you make an updated tutorial? Because the latest version of W3 Total Cache has more options to configure. And all default settings are different than yours.
Hi there, Nice post. I thought that W3 total cache would be the best solutions to decrease my website's load time. But everything went opposite. Before installing it my website's load time was 7.59s which has now reached to 8.31s. Any idea what happened wrong?
Its a great setup to start with, however if you use many plugins on your site even the best w3 total cache setup won't really help. Test your site with gtMetrix and detect the issue. In many cases its too many http requests which in other words mean that you have to merge your js and css files into one (or fewer js and css files).
An updated version would be GREAT - options in this tutorial are NOT listed or available to configure in current version. And my W3 installed with NOTHING enabled - and a message stating "The plugin is currently enabled. . If an option is disabled it means that either your current installation is not compatible or software installation is required." The W3 support page is overloaded with unanswered queries - could it be because W3 is now offering a Custom Install for $150? Gee I wonder (sarcasm)
Hi Erik. Thank you for your clear explanation! Do you maybe also have a tutorial about the settings of W3 Total Cache when the site is also running WooCommerce...? A tutorial about taking the steps in the following link --> docs.woothemes.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/ kind regards, Koen
