Awesome video. The sound of your first kick was deep [meaning it penetrated the target]. As you demonstrate, free and easy rotation around the upright fixed spine is vital to Wing Chun [think of a tetherball around a pole]. Centering connects our mass as one, but the drive is "squeezing" around center for "horizontal" power. Additionally, I picture wheel around my hips, the "force" is inside, but the control [and initiation] is the outside of the hip. Keeping everything connected but turn and control from the outside as if we're "falling" forward or spiraling into our target. This means we can use our mass and not have "pull back" our arm to generate power as we're not limited by the idea of "opposition" or opposite force, we're joined and every move is connected [so we don't need to pull back the arm to drive].
    Great video as always!

I have seen Sifu Nima does this kick 4 or 5 times on a demonstration video and it still amaze me how he can apply so much power in a short range. I feel for the person taking the kick, thanks for sharing!

at 3:35 you show your arm moving backwards. correct me if i am wrong but you could also have forward intent moving your arm backwards. ie generating proper power backwards with your arm whilst kicking forwards. but im guessing you left this out so as not to confuse the audience?

Yup, absolutely. the movement of each limb are independent meaning that one arm can be latching while the other it striking while there is a simultaneous kick happening, and the body is moving...

The most important thing to do is first learn how to be able to develop power and speed and then you MUST practice your skills in live sparring to be able to learn how to use it in reality. there is no other way. sparring is a must!

calm your mind during fighting is critical, when you are feared, worried, intimidated, you are 1 sec late in reaction. that 1s is enough for a deadly blow. even if you are punched, but if you remain conscious ( you are in control instead of the pain caused by the opponent's strike ) you can instantly counter-attack

Would you recommend practicing Chum Kiu and Biu Gee to help achieve Nim Tao or would you suggestion continuing with just Siu Lim Tao.

It all depends on the Level of the students SNT. If the person has already achieved a basic levels of relaxation in SNT, especially in their pelvis, hips and spine, then I would recommend them to move on.

Pencak silat is influenced by Kuntao/Kung Fu. One of Pencak silat RUclipsr Chyntia, their style very similar to Shaolin/Southern Kung fu

Why we don’t see this in any fights with wing chun peoples. And before you wing chun trolls say the same old line that these are not real masters that are fighting, you sound like a damm broken record. Its mighty funny that a lot of martial arts of old was based on challenge matches and upholding the honor of style, but yet no master wants to step up today to uphold the honor of wing chun the way it has been taking a beating all over the world.Kung fu in general for that matter whatever the style has been taking a beating and no one wants to step up and defend its honor.I will leave you ip man movie fans to yourselves keep believing you can do the Donny Yen thing in a real fight if you ever get into one.

Alright tough guy. Thanks for your valuable insight. My suggestion would be to go to a good Wing Chun practitioner who is your age and size and ask them for a fight. A much better thing to do than being a keyboard warrior in my opinion...

@@MindfulWingChun Been there done that.45 years ago i came from boxing and high school wrestling to karate and Kung fu.Back then the fights were brutal and most of them i won easily when I resorted to my boxing and wrestling skills. This has nothing with me being a tough guy, this has to do with this un going debate as to the effectiveness of a martial art key word martial art.wish as we know most Chinese arts are not.If the communist government of china dint shut down Xu Xiaodong he would have still been proving that point.

Good explanation. Kicks are actually my favorite part and this breaks it down perfectly. And any of these guys who come on a Wing Chun video just to criticize it are the softest dudes out there anyways. They eat chicken wings, drink beer while watching UFC and say I would have got him with a roundhouse.
