You can flip the insert upside down for more protection from the top zipper and pens won’t slip out of the case. The case is supposed to “stand” on its own when you flip completely open.
Someone else was saying the same but I said that took what I see as the advantage of Galen Leather’s case for easier access to the pens. But it is a good idea to do when traveling! Stand on its own?
@@TwoMiceOnMyBookshelf yes the front side folds all the back to the case and the the side with the elastic leans, so you can sit it on your desk and see the pens. I purchased mine at the DC Pen Show and they explained that me. I hope that makes sense. I thought turn it upside down, just for traveling, otherwise it was more difficult to access the pens
Hello! Sorry I just saw this comment now! (You've changed your RUclips name?). It looks like Galen has finally advertise this zippered version their website for Black Friday! Did you see that?
If you turn the pen insert upside down for in the Galen leather does that fit and then offer the protection to the top of the pens that you were wary of because as you said the bottom of the case is already reinforced?
Hm. Interesting solution! Not ideal for me personally since this means all the pens falling off (into the case) if I am not careful, every time. Unless I treat it like a drawer. Lay it flat with the front side on top and then slide the tray out. That’s possible. Not ideal. But possible. Thanks for an interesting idea!!
@@TwoMiceOnMyBookshelf I had thought you would just slip the case the same as the Visconti and just pop the pen out with it having to remove the case? I don’t have expensive fountain pens and so I have mine in a pencil case from The Superior Labor.
@@dani2xll Ah! I see what you mean. But then you would lose Galen’s advantage over Visconti. HOWEVER, I can do so while travelling! Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for the comparison.
Pleasure!

@@shellymaiorana3045 OOOOOH!! Thank you! Yes it occurred to me that we can turn the tray upside down just for when we are on the move! Good idea!
Do you have a link to the Galen leather case. I also could not find it on their website.
