Utterly fascinating and well explained by Dr Penrose. I hope it goes well for him and his 3 colleagues in this new publication which to me seems relatively logical.
This idea makes a lot of sense, though he didn't explain it quite as easily as I've seen others do... Essentially, an ever expanding universe, as it cools off and dies, starts to look the same mathematically, as an infinitely small, and compressed universe. They both converge on the singularity, where things eventually break down, and infinitely large/small/hot/cold, lose all meaning, and become 1. They are the sane thing, and start a new expansion, or are the end of a previous one. Twister theory is the name of this idea if I remember right.
Sir Roger is the most deserving of Knighthood of any scientist ever. Sir Roger for King! I love how he politely says they don't have time to go into it, which is an extremely gentlemanly way of saying I don't want to spend the next three weeks explaining it to you, but you know if you really asked him he would.
We need to record every word this man says. It most be extremely difficult for someone to even try to explain 1 idea when he has the knowledge of every topic leading to any 1 idea. He tries to dumb it down, but you will here him pause bc he knows what he is about explain is lightyears away from any simple explanation. Ive watched almost every documentary with him and every book. This guy blows are simpleton brains away. Every topic is years of rabbit hole reaearch to understand and get to the basic understanding . Joe and this gentleman are one in the same! This will be Joe Rogan in 40 years. I think these two individuals very much understand each other and the ways of the world!
Penrose mentioned something about photons that I have always thought about. I am not learned enough to take it further, but if I look at a tree outside, I see the tree because of photons hitting my eye. From my perspective, the photon was created and aimlessly bounced around and deflected in the massive sun for as much as 40,000 years before leaving the Sun, hitting the tree then hitting my eye. It hit my eye 40,000 years later. From the photons point of view it hit my eye instantaneously as it was created. We talk about the future, but the photon is already there according to its self. it bakes my noodle, that one.
@@wardygrub I did! Thanks. I know he says detector 1 says if its a wave or particle before the decision is actually made at the other sensors because it takes longer, but as I said, the photons dont take longer to do anything. The entagled particles think they all arrive instantaneously.
@@wardygrub Bad wording.....I mean we observe them as going to the other sensors after the first one. The entangled pair have no mass so travel at the speed of light and experience no time.
This interview is fantastic! I've recently been thinking about this idea of conceptualising infinite time and infinite space as a bounded shape for the exact same reason! It feels like the future is such an unbelievable eternity away but that's all depending on your reference frame and perception of time, so an infinity of distance is irrelevant from the right perspective. While it is still grim for us being stuck waiting around for everything and trapped in the boundary, this idea suggests a way to think about time and space externally to time and space, and it is beyond exciting to hear these same thoughts from this wonderful man. What a time to be alive!

I could listen to this guy talk about space and physics for 1000 years and still be intrigued.

This guy's legit
We can't tell but I'm sure he smells of homemade soup also
Definitely one of the more trustworthy of Joe Rogan’s guests: many other of his guests are not particularly trustworthy…
loved this interview .... more like this please joe :D
It’s inspiring to listen to someone so intelligent.
Sir Roger Penrose is an absolute legend. Even more so for going on Joe's show aswell.
Joe Rogan casually having a conversation with one of the greatest minds of our generation. The quality of guests on JRE is amazing. JRE is the #1 podcast in the world for a reason!
No doubt... Then you get people like Logan paul trying to claim #1 podcast in the world lmao!.... maybe #1 for trending whoever- the- fuck made whatever- the- fuck pop cultural impact, only to have Logan and Mike asking this guy who he's fucked lately, then talking about themselves and how cool they are the last 30 min
It used to be
This is the type of content that we need!! And it s sad that most of the people don't realize that knowledge means power.
This is the best podcast online right now. The guests just get better. So much variety and topics.
Met him in Oxford this year, a man who never fails to praise others and is steadfast in his work even in his nineties
So basically Einstein predicted the existence of dark energy by thinking of the Universe as being static...
You know you are a genius when you can't make a mistake even if you did! xΔ
NUKE Nobody: All Physicist after Einstein: Find me all of the “mistakes” Einstein did. The answers are there.
a former Ufc commentator interviewing a physics nobel laureate... quite decently too.. gawd i love the internet
Koodoos to Joe for guesting these geniuses and for his patient. Joe could've, many times, interrupted him when he couldn't understand all.
DEEP STUFF.
LOVE THIS VIDEO.
Penrose is so underrated
I don't ever want to stop hearing him talking. To call this interesting just is a devastatingly understating. I'm more than curious about what he is saying, I can't stop listening.
You would think Jamie got an A in physics comments woukd get old. It doesnt :D
For real. That and the whole Joe "stupid thing said here" Rogan stuff has gotten old too!
I don’t really get it did he say at some point he got an A or something or am I retarded?
he did say it yes @@muddymerkutio
Joe Rogan is interviewing some of the most brilliant people who ever lived. You have to admire this guy’s wide ranging curiosity.
My favorite episode ever, I love how he casually brings up Lex Fridman's Father Alexander foreshadowing future podcasts
Just imaging sitting in your armchair and worrying about what the Universe will be like when all the black holes have popped out of existence. I find it amazing that a fellow human has a mind like that, and yet others amongst us can't fart and chew gum at the same time.
From cosmological thoughts to fart while u chew???? Wtf
@@earlmyname4257 I have a feet fetish 😂 yummy 😋 I love smelly feet 🦶
Does penrose know that Artem is the goat?

Straight from central casting!

@@MrSkyrimfan No. No. he's not.
3:29 " Rotating? " lmao this is amazing.
The therory is that a spinning black hole would have a "Ring singularity" that you could safely pass through
This man is 87. Wow. Can we just let that sink in?
He’s 87 and extremely nimble is his freestyle presentation.
Yeah I’ve never heard a person that old be that smart. Or to even know about this topic. All the old ppl I know don’t know shit about shit lol
Fun fact...he farted like 6 times during the interview! His mind is sharp...but he can cut cheese as well!
And still able to talk about this stuff like he's teaching it in class. that's a sharp mind.
he does look and sound senile
I love listening to Prof. Penrose. Thanks, Joe.
There are just some people that you could listen to indefinitely. And made more so by the breadth of their knowledge. Thanks for the education.
This dude got Nobel Prize in Physics in 2020.
*He might be THE ONLY GUEST that Joe didn't tell to move the mic closer to your mouth directly... They moved it for him* @ 15:14. 🤣😅😂
That jacket alone holds answers to the universe lol.
He spent his entire life devoted. Absolutely blows me away
What a cool bloke...great sense of humour too.
This guy is incredible. I could learn from him for hours
Greatest podcast in history.
Joe loves the idea of another universe in a black hole. He asks every physicist and scientist on the podcast about it.

When ur teacher cant answer ur questions, u become joe the Rogan.
8:40 - when he says “its so hard to explain, but ill try” it absolutely fascinates me what is going on in this guys head
Sir Roger is so so so clever, intelligent, a genius if you will, that even when he dumbs it down it's still too mind blowingly non understandingly epic.
This is used way too lightly to describe average minds these days. But this guy truly is a genius! Wow
Is it just for me or is the original video private for everybody else? I want to watch the complete video.
it’s on Spotify
@@aarengaud Oh damn. They shifted everything on spotify. Not a big fan of that app tbh. Now I gotta buy premium to watch this. *facepalm*

Joe and this gentleman are one in the same! This will be Joe Rogan in 40 years. I think these two individuals very much understand each other and the ways of the world!

hey! thats what i call him
Spoonerisms...
Wow Penrose are truly a genius. I saw him at a stripclub 4 years ago. He was pole-dancing and high on speedball.

Hi. I just sent you this. Hope you find it interesting. X
@@wardygrub I did! Thanks. I know he says detector 1 says if its a wave or particle before the decision is actually made at the other sensors because it takes longer, but as I said, the photons dont take longer to do anything. The entagled particles think they all arrive instantaneously.
@@turnerthemanc what do you mean by “ think”? Isn’t that the spooky bit?
Thank you for just sitting back and letting him speak totally freely. Fascinating.
