the good part is that you were honest, instead of keeping the secret
It's bound to happen more as the profile goes on too, it's really easy to lose track of things when there are so many modifiers to worry about. Oh well, I guess that just means more chaos

I put things in the backpacks to symbolise them as being "locked away". Since the backpacks are disabled AND those items are disabled, I put them in the backpacks so I don't use them at all. I could put them in a chest on my island but that's unnecessary effort and "locking them in my backpack" is easier.

He also be putting his dragon armor in his backpack when it gets disabled
The AOTE is a weapon, not a tool. This does not apply with clean tools only.
As for ANYTHING that goes in my backpack, I put it there to "lock it away". Basically, if my backpacks are disabled, I'm not going to go looking through them, so if I put all my 'banned items' in my backpacks, I have no chance of accidentally using them. I could just put them on a chest on my island/keep them in my inventory but this is effort and the backpacks are easier.
