Over 50 years from seeing him and the Belmonts at St Barnabas HS dance to the Riviera Lounge in Yonkers Avenue in the Bronx, I’m still enjoying his incredible music and reminiscing those old days.
I met him in 1968 at the Bitter End in the Village...he just came out with Abraham,Martin&John....he was sitting by himself in the back..this was way before the show...I approached him...telling him I was a big fan although the way from Arthur Ave...and was friends with Les Cauchi, and Freddie Ferrara from the Del Satins who backed him on all his hits...he said..."Sit down"....and we talked for about 20 minutes...after 5 minutes..I actually blurted out...What happened to you??? And he told me had to leave NY as the drugs were killing him..."I was lucky my wife stayed with me, and my father in law really helped me out...from that point on...we'd get together for a little bit...have so many signed items by him...he's the best and he's still making great music....we were lucky to have grown up with Dion.....
