- My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

The mats will get in the way of the tool boxes rolling around .mechanics have there own tools and tool boxes. And also be a trip hazard. I suggest talking one of your rolling toolboxes and roll it around the lift ,and around the shop . And you will see the mats will be in the way . We have one mat in front of our solvent tank . I would work the shop first then see what works , because when the shop is open and people working in it , the flow and things change.plastic or steal carts are also nice to put parts in and tools , it keeps car parts an stuff off of the ground .
Your ac units outside will last a lot longer if you mount them off the ground.

We have done it "forever" - it's fun but started with getting dressed in the dark and not being able to find 2 dark sox that matched =;^)
To look spiffy, for dress up, I have the sox match/go with the shirt or blouse.
It reminds me of the mismatched shoes days. Was so happy to see it!
When ever my Family would go out somewhere, and I happen to notice the mismatched socks, my daughters would razz me and tell me that they had another pair just like that at home....lol.
We were laughing because all 3 of us were wearing mismatched socks that day! Lol

Hey Chrome buddy, instead of buying one long piece mat. Why not get the one's that come like puzzle pieces that connect? So you can assembly them anyway you like and replace. Just thinking out loud. Oh and don't forget to go to the chiropractor to get your back adjusted before the trip. It's time.

If I may suggest... where your lift touches the floor at the ramp area , you might mount some skid plates where the ramps meet the floor so the ramps don't trash your epoxy floor every time they contact the floor.

Next project suggestion: a fenced yard area for the dogs with a sun shelter. Anybody have some used chain link fencing to drop off? A dog house?
That's a great idea. Keeps the dogs in a contained area so they don't get hit on accident

I don't rememeber: Are you putting a kitchen in the shop? Full Fridge? Stove? Help all your friends eat better in Van life. Also, you can use a remote for those accent lights around the stickers.
There will be a fridge and a freezer and coffee machine. There is now an air fryer!
If i may, I've worked in several car dealerships. We would not have mats for the reason being of spillage. If you have a vehicle leaking fluid driving into the shop or while fixing a vehicle, fluids may leak out because of maintenance. Also the cost of cleaning the mats. In such a large quatity, it would not be cheap. Just sayin..

Chrome, I'm a professional mechanic at a Midas in Texas. Do not run any runners underneath the lift. Oils and coolant are extremely slippery on mats. Not to mention difficult to clean and over time it will destroy the mat.
Better to destroy the a rubber floor Matt than 20k in epoxy floors.
You're a real mechanic so the aesthetics is not your primary concern like non mechanics opening shops 😅

I think you having your own screenprinting set-up is a bad idea. I had a t-shirt company for many years. Screenprinting is very messy and dirty. You need a place to store and to mix the ink and a place to clean the screens. Plus the odors of all the chemicals.

Man is that shop really coming out awesome. I love how the upstairs is coming along, but don't make it too comfy, as Loren looks like he's in heaven lounging in that chair playing some video games. Honestly though I couldn't be happier for you, as your a true testament that dreams do come true with a bit of hard work and even when you hit a bump in the road, you just keep trudging forward. It's been a pleasure watching your channel grow over the past couple years and I look forward to see where this will take you. You my friend are a true inspiration to sooooo many people and I'm sure you have your fair share of haters, but the haters are nothing but jealous!! Have a great weekend✌🏼

If I were you Call workplace safety and health before you do anything else to get info on garage safety and the municipal building inspector to visit the shop to ensure your up to code laying down mats all over will cause tripping hazards. You dont want any accidents believe me !!
At the beginning of your video, noticed your ac units in the back are sitting close to the ground, you need to pull the vegetation/grass away from those units at least a foot or two, maybe using some of your future parking lot rocks to surround the units! Those units need unobstructed airflow.
No on the rubber mats everywhere. You will have oil and fluid spill and it will make it impossible to clean up.
Rubber mats plus oil and grease equals slippery surfaces and difficult to clean!

Chrome!! One concern - many mats will stain or discolor the floor. Discuss this with your supplier, PLEASE. With all you have invested, I'd hate to see it ruined by rubber mats.

Hey Chrome I don't know if you have watched 4wD 24/7 they have awesome rigs that do what you and Loren I know that isn't how he spells his name but to lazy to go back and look it up ,But it has great ideas for van setups and ideas for creating
High solids epoxy floors are designed for high traffic,cars, airplane hangers, etc. Don’t listen to the haters that have used water-based garbage from the big box stores. Rubber mats are just going to collect dirt and cause a trip hazard. VV
Chrome, I love the idea of protecting the floors, but it’s a shop, and it’s going to get damaged no matter what. Also mechanic doesn’t want to worry about the floors, they want to fix a vehicle using any means necessary and that could mean a torch. It will get wrecked, it is what it is. Sorry brother, I’m sure Loren doesn’t want a rubber mat under him and the lift.

Please get your back checked out by a chiropractor before your summer travels, please. You have been doing a lot of heavy work, lifting and doing all the twists and turns you have been doing. Would rather have you healthy for your summer travels so you can enjoy them without having to lay flat on it for about a week or so, thats no fun. Just want you to be safe.

There are cabinets and a sink up there. There will be other things added, but no stove. Upstairs is the break room 😂

Re mat. Will it get in the way if you need a trolly to take the weight of heavy elements such as dif lock etc.. Will be difficult to move over the lip of the mat and might sink into the rubber
