Flying in one of the nicest Vans RV7 Builds Yet!

- My good friend Brian has finally finished in what I feel is one of the nicest RV7 builds around. If you don't know much about these planes here is some info on them.
The RV-7/7A is one of Van’s most popular current designs, with 1,925 having flown to-date. Since the RV-7/7A replaced the most popular kit aircraft in history, Van’s RV-6/6A, this is probably no surprise.
About 70% of our customers prefer side by side seating and the RV-7/7A has a roomy cockpit that will easily accept two 6’ + adults with sufficient leg, head and elbow room to stay comfortable for three to four hours at a time. The seating arrangement puts both occupants on an equal footing - standard dual controls and optional dual brakes give either occupant full control with equal visibility.
Thousands of RV-7/7A kits have shipped to countries all over the world. If you prefer sitting next to your flying partner while you both enjoy one of the nicest-flying airplanes ever… Well, we know you’ll like the RV-7/7A.

You can easily tell how much these guys love flying small aircraft and evolving technology that compliments the experience. I also get the feeling the pilot/owner is as proud of his outstandingly beautiful Vans RV7 as a work of art as Michelangelo was of his Sistine Chapel.
"Sir, can you please stop licking the tail!" 🙂 Absolutely stunning RV. Great job!
Dang, that's a beautiful airplane, and clearly a joy to fly. Thanks for letting us have a look.
I spoke to this gentleman last week. He was nice enough to join us at the Wheatland Wyoming in EAA fly-in with that wonderful plane.
This is about the 17th time I've seen this 😂😂😂 keeps gaining the WOW 😳 factor! Excelente 🛩️🇺🇸☝🏻
I'm glad you're enjoying it! 🤟
Super cool video and airplane. I was pleasantly surprised this was Erie, CO airport. My dad kept his Mooney there for years, I've flown a ton out of that airport.
I met Brian at Oshkosh last year. His airplane is simply amazing and Brian is an awesome guy.
I did a tad bit of work on this plane with Brian. I will share one story because it will stick with me and it is exemplary of how builders need to control emotions when building. There was a service bulletin on the horizontal stabilizer. This meant, roughly speaking, taking off his already fabbed HStab and drilling some holes, adding a stiffener, re-riveting, et cetera and even then his research told him it just didn't feel right. Instead, he just swallowed several extra days of work and built a whole new HStab without having to look back and wonder if something wasn't "just right". The Colorado on the VStab is such a beautiful touch to the paint job. Only regret is he didn't sign the Van's calendar he sent me :)
Hes a legend 👏
Beautiful!!
Magnificent! 😉👌
That is one beautiful RV!
“this is a thumb drive.”
“unbelievable.”
😂😂😂
Beautiful aircraft, I think I saw it at Erie this day. Awesome to hear the story behind it and the work that went into it 👍
Vote this is the best looking RV PERIOD!!
Awesome! What an amazing and beautiful aircraft.
I like the throttle set up👍
The painting made by EVOKE are super .... thumb up!
I'm from Gadsden, Alabama. Nice to hear some local guys had a hand in making this beauty. Great looking plane! Sounds like a lot of work. Would love to build one day, but don't know how I'd ever finish.
Respect.
Absolutely beautiful aircraft a labor of love and it shows....
Agreed!
Oh WOW what a fantastic plane and a wonderful builder/pilot!!!
So incredible. What a beautiful machine, amazing build.
agreed!
Amazing job! ❤
Thank you! 😄
we definitely flying this once im out of flight school
Yes you are. Hurry up man!!🤣
“this is a 3d printed sleeve.”
“wow.”
😂😂😂
My dads dream aircraft, mine too
I've fueled this before, the paintwork is incredible
Agreed its quite beautiful
WOW, that bird is AMAZING! We have a bunch of RVs here at Falcon field, but none nearly as awesome as this one!!
It’s a really nice bird.
Great paint job! I looked at 7 RV's before I found one I would own. There is a LARGE disparity in quality depending on the builder. I love my RV.
Ha, I bought one of the first Dynon D40 back in 2003, they have come a long way.
Very Nice
That is a beautiful aircraft 👍
It looks almost to nice to fly...almost. All the best.
nice edit on the intro landing, I wish I could edit my landings like that!
Although PLANE is awesome but on the other hand those CRONTRAILS are superb.
Great video and beautiful RV7! Silly side note, the left stick is molded like the stick in an F-4 (but reversed to be left handed) F-16's are a bit different =P
Listen to your son and build a Bearhawk Patrol or Bearhawk Companion next!
Beautiful! Now, go get a descent tailwheel. That shimmy is wicked, you must feel that!
Pre ignition / knock then ease in the fuel awesome!!
NICE !
Man I am 12 and I love planes I really wanna learn to fly one and well ur plane is so cool Man U should make a screen that can play movies on long journeys but man it’s literally like a camper in the air
I met this guy while ferrying a plane myself.. I might have left some druel on it, it is spectacular. Slightly disappointed in the lack of IFR capabilities though. I did see that he has provisions for a CS prop in the future, the throttle quadrant in the center console has the slot to add a prop lever! Did you see the engine is painted (including the pushrod tubes) like the interior?
We kept the engine cowling on as I probably would have lost my pants
@@SirDrifto haha you can see the detail through the cooling inlets!!
Cover page quite appealing.
A like...then i watch the video
Haven't seen you in a while Brian! Get your new prop on her? Hope your good bro!
How are you getting over 180 knots true out of an RV7? I've seen 190 hp on a constant speed Hartzell get 170. That incredible!
Great question. It’s because I have about a 205hp engine and it redlines at 3300rpm. So I can push the prop to 2850-2900rpm. The trade off is I’m guzzling gas. But it gets up and goes. This prop, Catto - 68” diameter 74” pitch is a banshee on both ends.
Thank you. That makes sense now.@@brianbeattyRV7Pilot
Major Tom to ground control
Most of the rv planes will be light sport aircraft in 2024 when mosaic becomes law.
Why are hershy bar wings beautiful?
Sad to hear about Vans having $$$ problems
Great aircraft!
It'll be a harsh business lesson for all involved but Vans should pull through.
What is the access plate on top of the tail cone hiding? 😊
Chuck, it’s my access plate to get to my dual ADAHRS boxes so I don’t have to crawl through the baggage area to do maintenance. I cover them with clear auto bra material to seal it from water.
how can you trust electronic touchscreen system ,,imagine you have an elctrical issu ? is there any other navigation system
Valid question. First, each of those screens are solid state electronics on independent electrical systems, meaning they are isolated from each other on power. Second, they each have their own backup battery as well. So the likelihood that both screens would "crap out" is extremely unlikely. Third, each screen has its own dedicated air data and GPS sources. So again, the likelihood of all of those going out at the same time is almost nil. Fourth, I have an iPad that maintains a full charge off to the side and that too has it's own situational awareness both moving map and artificial horizon. And lastly, my iPhone also has the same separate map source. So, in essence I have four separate GSP, air data, and electrical systems in operation. The chances of all four suffering an outage would be the result of some other external factor that no plane system could respond to. I feel very safe when I fly. I also don't fly IFR so I can have more "outs" to choose from.
Thank you for reassuring me. I wasn't aware that these navigation systems had independent data sources and separate batteries@@bdbeatty
Are you at Erie municipal?
Yes sure am
Those Cessna 172's look kinda sad compared to it, don't they?
Somebody can share with the average cost of the airplane.
Pre-punched holes? What’s that?
This is a kit, the factory in Aurora Airport, Oregon will pre-laser the holes at time of manufacturing making it very easy to locate it and hand drill it later when you select the sizes of the screws or rivets that you will use to build it, otherwise, you have to measure and pre-fit everything, which is not easy at all.
Tricycle gear?
Build the RV7A.
What’s the exact powerplant name/model?
Pinnacle Aircraft Engines, basically an IO-360, I don't recall the exact model number. It's basically Superior parts (Millennium cylinders), with high compression pistons, hollow counter-weight crank shaft, dual electronic ignition P-mags.
@@brianbeattyRV7Pilot do you have an online build log?
@@samtomlin2419, I don't have one, but I have thought about putting together a video RUclips page pretty doing the same thing. Is there anything I can answer for you?
@@brianbeattyRV7Pilot I have a million questions!!! First, who did your interior/panel? I love the center console with throttle controls, was that your design?
@@samtomlin2419 I am brining the pane to Oshkosh this year if you plan to attend. It will be there Sun-Wed morning before I head back home. I will have it in the Evoke Aircraft Design booth next to Vans Aircraft.
Common it’s not a tricycle gear it’s conventional gear
🎉🎉🎉THUMBS UP TO HIM ! MOHAN IZAZ RASOOL MOHAN BARIDHARA GULSHAN DHAKA BANGLADESH.😅😅😅
It's a Pagani RV7
Very nice airplane. But is too pretty for my taste.
Interesting, if you slow video starting at :55, then step at .1 sec you can see the tail wheel slap form side to side. Looks like a JD Air tail wheel which I thought would not do that.....?
