    Just got one of these myself. You have to register the fob with each unit individually, leaving all other devices disabled as you go along, before finally putting all batteries back in. Also, by removing the plastic battery tab with sensors not 'in their respective 'positions' the internal SOS tilt alarm won't be set at the correct angle.
    I think the system is okay myself but the keyfob registering is fiddly and the battery removal is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ARSE. I'm thinking of just putting tape in the sides of the sensors. I can't imagine what bollocksing about replacing batteries will be like otherwise.

    • @Kernomadz
      @Kernomadz  2 года назад

      I managed to get the fob registered and linked to each unit, but I was hoping they would all sound off when someone tried to get in…all that happens is 1 goes off, which can be smashed up pretty quick when the thief is in the van…
      The main problem for me is that the main unit doesn’t react to the door units unless they are next to it…that makes it pointless for me tbh…I can set them all off and it not respond, yet I get in the van and it calls me 🤦🏻‍♂️
      I think it may be a good idea for a smaller panel van with no insulation, but I just can’t make it work for me…
      I’ll have a go at re linking the units as you said and see if that helps but, unless they all sound at the same time and the unit hears it, I’m not keen.
      How do you find the general use? I think it’s a pain in the arse to have to activate it it through the app as well as the fob. I want to push a button when I lock the car and be done with it 😜
      Thanks for your comment tho! I’m genuinely interested in other peoples experience with the system 😁😎😎🤙

      @@Kernomadz I've set mine up in a camper above the walk-through from the cab and it triggers okay. The multi-alarms thing doesn't bother me so much because 1) most people ignore them 2) they reset after 30 seconds anyway and 3) I mainly wanted tracking and an alert if the van is being fiddled about with so that I can summon Captain Baseball-Bat to the scene.

      Tbh, after more than a year with it, I don’t have anything good to say about it 😂🤦🏻‍♂️
      I’ve got a follow up video coming soon.
      I’ve had to fit another alarm that the receiver unit will register, the “no subscription” thing is a red herring as you need to have a topped up sim to keep it going, the noise makers are available for very little money on Ali express and similar apps, the remotes are so cheap and tacky, I’m now on my last one (of 4) as they snap off the keys really easily, the app to arm the device is janky at times and alerts me at all hours they the battery is low….all in all, it’s a great concept, but poorly executed in my opinion.
      I’ll get the video done soon and explain more 🤙☺️

    Well. I've just installed this system. I sat down and studied the installation thoroughly. It is now fitted in my van and works as per the instructions. Only issue is having to stop the vibration alert when driving but what the hell, big deal
    It takes one minute using the app. Those comments above should be given the contempt they deserve as should the 'honest review' video. Of everyone simply followed the instructions as I did they would find that this system works well.

    • @Kernomadz
      @Kernomadz  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m very glad the system (or rather, the 2 simultaneous systems) works well for you!
      Unfortunately I had a very different experience despite following the instructions, contacting the company and starting it all from scratch.
      The janky moped alarms don’t always set my unit off to alert, yet if I stand outside and shout, I get an alert.
      My van has been on the move, according to the app, when I was standing next to it several time. I get an alert in the early hours of the morning to inform me the battery is at 10% , the app drops in and out. The “no subscription fee” doesn’t mention keeping the sim active at cost (not much, but it’s still technically a subscription) and the after service has been less than adequate.
      So, while i appreciate the view and the feedback, my “honest review” is exactly that.
      I actually had high hopes for this product. My disappointment was genuine. No contempt necessary.
      But again, I’m glad it worked for you!
      Thanks for the feedback too. Genuinely appreciate it 😁

    I wish i had watched your video before i purchased one this week, it seems all i have bought is a expensive tracking device, because i don't think much of the alarm system, not very loud, the chicken is louder and they stop sounding after about 2 minutes. The only good thing about the alarm is the sensors are quick to fit. Like you i thought the noise from one would set off the others so the main unit could pick up the noise and alert you, NO. I would not recommend buying one of theses for a Motorhome, my be its the insulation but i don't think so. also the door sensors don't seem very good quality plastic and definitely not loud enough.

    I'd agree with every word of this. I've also got it and it's a pain in the arse. Vanolarm won't give a phone number to talk to them about it and the terms and conditions are quite specific if you want a refund. Read them before you buy this system. I think the more doors you have to protect, the less good this system is. So be warned. If there is one good thing about it, the door sensors do vibrate (usually) if someone trys the door handle. You are hoping that would be enough to put a thief off but that might be optimisitic.

    Cheers for this, so its basically two systems, an alarm system that's more of a deterrent as it chirps on each of the doors and a tracker system that doesn't react to the noises of the alram? just out of interest, can you disable the "noise" activation on the tracker and just use "vibration"... I really don't mind not having the alarm, if I could just use the tracker function, as being able to see where the van is heading, god forbidding someone does take it. (new subscriber.. ;))

    • @Kernomadz
      @Kernomadz  Год назад +1

      Firstly, thanks for subscribing!! I appreciate the support .😁
      And yes, it’s 2 systems. The door alarms are reactive which is great, but unfortunately, due to the insulation and size of my van, I can’t really hear the alarm very well if I walk to the other side of the van..only the door being tampered with goes off and doesn’t set the others off.
      The tracker system is ran on a 3rd party app which has the occasional glitch telling me the van has been stolen when it hasn’t. It also has a tendency to alert me at all hours of the morning when the batteries are low.
      The 2 systems as 1 would be fine if the issues were sorted out, but for me it seems like it really need work. Especially having to arm both systems separately. The tracker has to be armed via the phone, which has been an issue in poor signal areas and in the rain.
      The tracker is probably great, except the times it tells me the van is 30km away and I’m standing next to it 🤦🏻‍♂️…
      All in all, it’s a flawed system in my opinion. But with that said, the cost was low and it’s better than nothing until I can afford better.
      And it may be great for smaller vans, with less point of access.
      There are loads of positive reviews so I may be in the minority, so these are just my opinions. But I would prefer the whole thing to work as 1 system and have a dedicated app and better quality hardware…
      I hope this hasn’t been to negative!

    Thanks for the review. I just started installing mine, waiting for a SIM card so I can setup the "smart alarm" unit. If mine is the same as yours, and triggers only from talking but not from the door alarms, that'll be useless. That's the whole point, that it calls me so I can react immediately if there's anything going on.
    Any updates to share 8 months later? Have you gotten a better system?
    I can easily agree that it's not as good as a wired in system. But it's also £160 for all 4 doors. While I couldn't find anything less than £600 or more to get a "proper" alarm. Plus, with the better systems, monitoring costs £10 a month or so. I'm hoping that if I can get the alerts to work okay on this thing, then it's a good enough option, along with all the physical security upgrades (hardcore padlocks!) that I put on my sprinter. Was already broken into once, hoping not to repeat that...

      With that said, it’s better than nothing.
      I live in my van so I’m with it most of the time, but for those times I need a reliable system, it’s just not hitting the mark.
      I think it’s a good idea for a small work van. But a large van with insulation seems to make it less useful..

      @@Kernomadz I got my replacement unit, and it's slightly better, but still creates false alerts, and goes off whenever I move around in the van. So I got to thinking...
      What about putting the unit inside a sock? Or something else that would cut down the noise. I learned from the vanolarm folks that it's supposed to trigger an alert at 90db. Below that, there should be no alert. In tests, my first unit triggered at 75db, the second probably at 80db. So if we effectively put "ear plugs" on the unit, then a sound of 90db in the room might appear to the unit like 80db. I haven't tested yet, but I'm optimistic it's possible...

      My van is pretty big tho. Like I said, it might be on for you mate. I just haven’t had a good experience with mine
