Just caught myself I've never used same IRs for guitar and bass... As always, thanks for the tips, Miami! It would be even better with before/after comparisons, for full clarity 🤘
Hey Miami, you need to use the toga more often, it gives you character, and not to mention, you hit this episode out of the ballpark man!!! This was definitely a great technique from my perspective! And I have to agree, if Joey is listening, give the man a raise, he continues to kill it!!!
Damn Miami transition game and jokes where on the highest level EVER!!!. The splitting the bass technique is the most powerful thing ever, in electronic/urban music it is a must for aggresive 808 and is a great technique for stacking different textures of synths and making a gigantic unity. For pop’s ultra sheen on vocals you can parallel/split the highend , compress it and blend it in.
NICE video! As a bassist who just starting playing guitar 2 years ago this video was very useful! I'm new to recording also, I love using different IR's with the guitar but I never thought of using the same IR's on my bass. I recently bought the Kristian Kohle IR Pack: Rainbows and Chainsaws. Which I really dig. For bass I love using the Neural DSP Darkglass Ultra Plugin. I now must blend some tones! Thank you! \m/
Is there a specific impulse type I should try when I use the same impulse for guitar and bass? For example, should I run both through a guitar cab? Or a bass cab? And if so, what type? It seems like there's a danger of your bass either sounding too think or your guitar sounding too boomy if you pick the wrong one.
Ahh yes, even the guitar and bass are having relationships now... cool, okay, aight, sure, *sniffles*, this is fine, *rolls up in a ball* Fr though, I never thought of using the same Cab IRs for the bass and rhythm guitars. Great video as always!
one I do is simply reduce the mids on the amp of the rhythm since they’re gonna be double tracked anyways and it’s gonna be pretty thick because of that then boost the mids of the lead on the amp. Decap saturation on the rhythm setting 1 then setting 2 for the lead. Not much notching or precise eq work. Just letting the amp and saturation do the work. Gives it that analog feel too
Ive been seeing Jens Bogren with IRs for low tuned guitar. Can you make a video explaining how this really works? i would have thought any IR would work but maybe im wrong. please help me understand this.
Miami... Great Video As Always... I Was Watching & Wondering How Long You Were Gonna Actually Wear That & Just Ready To Hear What’s Drippy Gonna Say After He Watches This Valentines Video 😂😂😂
Solid advice Miami. How do you feel about doing some mid/side dynamic eq to remove some of the guitar frequencies out of the high mids in the mid channel that are fighting with the bass?
Love your videos Miami. But could you clarify about using the same cab? Are you saying bass and guitar use the same cab sim on their channel? Or that both tracks are bussed to a single channel with a single cab?
Miami, you gonna look back 10 years from now and be like "my mixind advice was fire" and you'll cringe at the rest. Still tho. Same cab for both instruments, got it.
Hey, Miami! I've been using the Ben Bruce Toneforge plugin and absolutely love it. Do you know if it's possible to turn off the amp head to be able to run a bass through the JST Cabinet on it?
Yes, they are interchangeable terms. If you were using a real amp you would use a cab, if you’re using a sim you’re using an impulse response. Both are essentially glorified eq curves -Miami
A. Love the puns, but you gotta e careful with them dad lines or your next pair of shoes are gunna be New Balances that come stock with grass stains. ;) B. Never heard of using the same IR/cab on bass and rhythm guitar, gunna try that out. Thanks!
I don’t know what JST is paying Miami, but that man needs a raise! Always great, fun and educational content 🙏🏽
This was also my very first thought I had within the first second of firing up this video haha
Just caught myself I've never used same IRs for guitar and bass... As always, thanks for the tips, Miami! It would be even better with before/after comparisons, for full clarity 🤘
Yeah man! It’s not for every time but it works in rock and metal almost always lol. definitely give it a shot and lmk the results!

Soo the hat, and the toga? Brave choice Miami 🤘🏽
- Poo
I couldn’t find any wings fam lmao but that woulda been doin too much
-Miami
It’s cool I know ya not just resting on ya laurels
Ah yes any marriage of bass and guitar will have their "highs" and "lows" ;) but they will always belong together. Great video Miami!
Lmao, funny stuff. Thanks Christopher
-Miami
Somehow I manage to learn something every video
Glad you got something out of it!
-Miami
Holy crap, Miami is awesome!
Your best comedic work yet 😂 great mix tips tho
Lol thanks, Mike! Trying to bring some of that back
-Miami
Thanks for the info! 💚
Anytime!
-Miami
Yeah. I love using the same amp for my bass distortion and my rhythm guitars but just using the cab IR is also a great idea I gotta try out.
Let me know when you try it!
-Miami
okay that transition made me sub haha. crazy :D
Clicked for your transition game stayed for the knowledge
Awesome! Appreciate you my friend
-Miami
Nice tricks!!!! Thank you Miami!!!
Thanks Milton! Anytime

I’ve never tried parallel/splitting the high end. I gotta give that a shot now!
-Miami
This was awesome. I already knew the same cab trick, but not so much the others. 🤘🤘 I'll be sure to try these out on my future mixes.
Awesome! Lmk how you get on with it nexus!
-Miami
Got the the sub! Great job. 👏
love these videos. Great going miami
Glad to see you’re still part of the community bro. What’s been going on with ya?

I need to learn more
This is actually super helpful
Damn I want that Gibson! Keep killing it friend.
I’m not gonna lie, it plays like a dream!

Great video!! just wondering would you do the hi eq carve on the bass just during the lead guitar and leave it for the rest of the track?
Thanks!!!
Always educational. This is a big help. My stuff sucks less everyday haha
Awesome, Zac! Glad you love it my friend
-Miami
Ahh yes, even the guitar and bass are having relationships now... cool, okay, aight, sure, *sniffles*, this is fine, *rolls up in a ball*
Fr though, I never thought of using the same Cab IRs for the bass and rhythm guitars. Great video as always!
Let me know what you think of it! Don’t forget to split the bass and only use it on the grit track
-Miami

Song: The Words We Use - Rise Or Fall
for those wondering
You a real one for knowing that lol

Miami... Great Video As Always... I Was Watching & Wondering How Long You Were Gonna Actually Wear That & Just Ready To Hear What’s Drippy Gonna Say After He Watches This Valentines Video 😂😂😂
Yup, 30 seconds maximum
-Miami
never thought about the high cut on bass. I like the click, but its not there. thanks bro
I don’t usually comment of videos. But this is who I want to see giving wisdom and leaving politics out.
Glad you commented! Stick around, we keep it about music here
-Miami
Wear a hat, no problem but one thing is true, you do not mess with Miami's hair do!! :D Awesome video mate!
Lmao appreciate you, Filipe
-Miami
Solid advice Miami. How do you feel about doing some mid/side dynamic eq to remove some of the guitar frequencies out of the high mids in the mid channel that are fighting with the bass?
I think that’s a great concept in theory, but I’ve just never had a situation that was severe enough to have to do that
-Miami
Love your videos Miami. But could you clarify about using the same cab? Are you saying bass and guitar use the same cab sim on their channel? Or that both tracks are bussed to a single channel with a single cab?
Use an identical cab sim and impulse on the bass track and the guitar track separately!
-Miami
Miami, you gonna look back 10 years from now and be like "my mixind advice was fire" and you'll cringe at the rest. Still tho. Same cab for both instruments, got it.
It was Valentine’s Day fam, no shame in my game😘
-Miami
The same IR for bass and guitar?! For example I’m using svt cab IR for bass and OH MS 412 for guitar. How is it works?
Anyone know what level his transition game is at? I’ve lost count…
122 transitions so far lmao
-Miami
Hey, Miami! I've been using the Ben Bruce Toneforge plugin and absolutely love it. Do you know if it's possible to turn off the amp head to be able to run a bass through the JST Cabinet on it?
When useful information meets puns and cringe. Love it! 😊
Happy Vanhalentines 🤪
Yesss, this one is amazing
-Miami
By using the same cab, you mean the same IR?:)
Yes, they are interchangeable terms. If you were using a real amp you would use a cab, if you’re using a sim you’re using an impulse response. Both are essentially glorified eq curves

🐐
The knowledge is great, but I think I'm coming mostly for the jokes these days. lol
Glad to hear it lol. I’ll keep it up, Niles!
-Miami
A. Love the puns, but you gotta e careful with them dad lines or your next pair of shoes are gunna be New Balances that come stock with grass stains. ;)
B. Never heard of using the same IR/cab on bass and rhythm guitar, gunna try that out. Thanks!
Lmfao those new balances used to be fireee
-Miami
But I’m using midi bass so we can’t do the 1st step i guess
Yeah you can. Just use the di from the midi bass, send it to an amp and use the same cab impulse you did on guitar
-Miami
@@joeymusic oh yea! Thanks! Didn’t think about it.
Cool video! Rick and Morty is awesome!!!
For real! Still one of my favorite shows
-Miami
... what if I wanted you to do the entire video in a toga? 👀
You’ll have to wait til next year, my friend 🤣🤣🤣
-Miami
Did you distort bass after hpf or before?
After. Certain amp sims react differently based on the information received so if I did it in reverse it wouldn’t do what I wanted
-Miami
@@joeymusic So what amp sim you used for grit here?
Love the jokes 😂😂
Lmao glad you’re here for the funny as well as education, Francis
-Miami
More like “Strap On!” 😈
Ruthless
-Miami
lol!! no.
Dislike and unsub for discarding the toga!
I’ll bring the toga back next year or if the bass and guitar ever truly fall in love
-Miami
